একান্ন সতীপীঠের একটি অন্যতম সতীপীঠ হল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্যের বীরভূম জেলার নলহাটিতে এই নলাটেশ্বরী মন্দিরটি। নলহাটি স্টেশন থেকে মাত্র মিনিট দশেকের হাঁটাপথে এই নলাটেশ্বরী সতী পীঠ। এছাড়া রামপুরহাট স্টেশন থেকেও খুব সহজে এই মন্দিরে আসা যায় । বীরভূম জেলার এই অঞ্চলে সতীর কণ্ঠনালী বা গলার নলি পড়েছিল, সেখানেই এই মন্দির স্থাপিত হয় । বলা হয় এই থেকেই নলহাটির নামকরণ হয়েছে । এছাড়া এই মন্দিরটিকে অনেকে ললাটেশ্বরী মন্দিরও বলে । মন্দিরের গর্ভ গৃহে মা নলাটেশ্বরীর অবস্থান করে । এখানে দেবী তৃনযনী কালী রূপে পূজিতা হন মা নলাটেশ্বরী। প্রতিদিন ভোর সারে চারটে থেকে বেলা একটা এবং বিকাল চারটে থেকে রাত আটটা পর্যন্ত এই মন্দিরে মাকে পূজা দেওয়া যায় । লোকমুখে জানা যায় ২৫২ বঙ্গাব্দে কামদেব সতীমায়ের দেহাংশ এই কণ্ঠনালী খুঁজে পান এই স্থানে। তারপর ধীরে ধীরে এই মন্দির গড়ে ওঠে ।
মন্দির প্রতিদিন সকাল পাঁচটা থেকে দুপুর 1টা 30টা পর্যন্ত (5:00AM থেকে 1:30 PM) এবং বিকেল চারটা থেকে রাত আটটা পর্যন্ত (2:00 PM থেকে 8:00 PM) খোলা থাকে।

Akalipur Kali birbhum : বীরভূমের আকালি কালী সম্পর্কে বহু ইতিহাস প্রচলিত রয়েছে। কালীপুজর রাতে এই মন্দিরে বিশেষ পুজয় না।
গুহ্যকালী বা আকালী হিন্দু দেবী কালীর একটি বিশেষ রূপ। দেবীভাগবত পুরাণ মতে, তিনি দেবী শতাক্ষীর শরীর থেকে উৎপন্না অন্যতমা মহাশক্তি।কোনো কোনো সাধক এই রূপে কালীর আরাধনা করে থাকেন, তবেগুহ্যকালী কালীর এক অতি ভয়ংকরী রূপ। এই রূপ কালীর প্রচলিত রূপের চেয়ে অনেকটাই পৃথক। গুহ্যকালী দ্বিভুজা, সর্পভূষিতা ও খড়্গহস্তা।
নন্দকুমার ছিলেন নবাবি আমলে বাংলার বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলের দেওয়ান তিনি এই স্থানে এইমন্দিরে স্থাপন করেন। ১৭০৫ সালে বর্তমান বীরভূম জেলার নলহাটি থানার ভদ্রপুর গ্রামে নন্দকুমার জন্মগ্রহণ করেন।ব্রিটিশ আমলে তিনিই ছিলেন প্রথম ভারতীয় যিনি ফাঁসির সাজা পান। ১৭৬৫ সালে তিনি ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানি কর্তৃক বর্ধমান, নদিয়া এবং হুগলির দেওয়ানি লাভ করেন। এর আগে যার দায়িত্বে ছিলেন ওয়ারেন হেস্টিংস।
