It is obvious the Tories are just waiting and expecting our protective (for the big two parties) FPTP to return them to office. If, as it seems, we get a few years of misery, expense and despair under Labour, the Tories know we will do the same as now and vote Labour out by voting Tory - the Tories may well be expecting Reform to stand aside (as they did when the Brexit party) to ensure Labour do not get another ticket to destroy.
If we did not have FPTP, the Tories would be having meetings with Reform 24/7 to cut a deal as the Tories desperately need those lost votes. The Tories would have to become a centre right party.
But no, they still run on the sense of entitlement FPTP gives them, and they will expect everyone to do as told when Labour muck things up, which is we vote Tory not out of belief but because we want Labour out, and Reform have to pull aside otherwise it might mean we keep a Labour government.
End result, we get another liberal government and the same old, same old. This is why Labour and the Tories adore FPTP.

Labour became New Labour, which was a neat trick to appeal to everyone, but the Conservatives have the problem of guilt for broken promises and blame for bad policies, and this is difficult to shake off. Reform have none of this. They have a clean sheet, and that is a huge advantage. Personally I don`t see the point for the remaining Conservatives in trying to resuscitate their brand. Make a big change and call yourselves something new and have a new realistic manifesto.
