Idoru is actually a book by William Gibson, which she shows for a second in the video. He's one of the best sci-fi writers and the book is about a post-modern /cyberpunk type future. A lot of sci-fi icon's writings have become truth and so many people read these classics to gain inspiration for the world we are headed towards. And we are even closer than ever to a complete merging of human and machine.
Other fun facts. William Gibson is from Vancouver. A place GRIMES lived for a while before moving to Montreal. William Gibson talks alot about cybernetics so I bet the deeper meaning to her current project is in that book. Also the way she performs all her videos the same way like they are computer generations. Maybe one of her influences.
I wish people would appreciate her music without talking about her child or Elon Musk. Grimes is talented and doesn’t just make music how other artist makes music. A talented women in her own right without the stupid comments.

When Grimes opened the copy of "Idoru" to show the dedication to "To Claire", I was momentarily bowled over by the thought that William Gibson may have known her family back in the 1990s and dedicated his book to her. I even went and got my copy off of my bookshelves to double-check that it did indeed contain that dedication. Wow! Then I occurred to me that it was probably just a dedication to Gibson's own daughter. However, it gives the video a powerful little moment of synchronicity.
