  • Kelley and I decided to spend all day Saturday working on The Shed at the Byron 80. We installed two windows, completed the shower system and built the “changing room”. Saturday night we had a bonfire, ordered pizza from Beard’s Market and had a few cocktails. Temps got down to 29 overnight and we stayed a cozy 74 inside. The sunrise was spectacular. We cooked some scrambled eggs along with biscuits and gravy Sunday morning. We then packed up our tools and headed back home to get ready for the Super Bowl!

New sub here. How secluded is your little refuge? Nice job on it. Is it insulated? Once your little kitchen area is finished, you'll be living large! I think I would look at a small woodburner stove in there in case we get a situation where propane is not available. The newer more efficient ones are very safe and rated to be as close as 8" from walls but one could still add a heat shield with an inch or two dead air space between. The blue water cubes by "Reliance" are 7 gallons and have a great little spigot on them. We've used at our hunting cabin for over 20 years. Sits on counter with spigot hanging over the sink and a five gallon HD bucket below lol

Not that secluded, actually only about 40 yds off road. Insulated with fiberglass batt insulation. Stayed in it about 4 times this hunting season so far. I thought about woodburner for the heat and more for the ambiance of the fire. It heats up so fast though, I think we'd be roasted out. Propane works, but yeah it has a couple drawbacks.

The vent less heaters are fine but you need to put the 20 pound tanks outside. some time these heaters leak. and will blow your self up.

Tanks are always outside when we use them. Thanks for looking out for us! I think the heater leaks just a touch, but we also have an additional in-line shutoff.

Gas heater should install outdoor wall for it is danger in house it burns exhaust oxigen,
Many people in my home town die in winter for this reason.

The Shed is far from air tight and we have both windows open as well with 2 ridge vents in the ceiling.
