  • The UVtransfer is an integrated laser system that performs the three vital processes in MicroLED fabrication - Laser Lift-Off (LLO), Laser-Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT), and Repair/Trimming. UVtransfer supports R&D and pilot line fabrication and is based on the same high-energy excimer laser technology long proven in high-volume display production for LTPS backplane annealing.

    A nice intro video. But may I ask is it a mature technology for microLED mass transfer? As for as I know, this is the most difficult part in making large scale microLED panel.

      You are right, mass transfer is the most challenging part to make a MicroLED large display. Mass transfer needs to be very precise, suitable for very small die´s in the future, and at the same time, it needs to come with a very high throughput to make MicroLED displays competitive. Laser-based mass transfer is the most promising solution - it can be very fast and precise. Coherent continues to make it happen, a first step is the UVtransfer system that we offer now to customers. We call it the future-proof technology.

    Very interesting and nice multiple first generation solutions now to tackle the future megatrend of µLED manufacturing. It'll be a tough competition for the best processing route!!!
    Is this beam shaping unit available for other beam sources and wavelengths too?

      Thank you! We are very excited to offer this highly integrated system for MicroLED laser processing to help our customers to develop their MicroLED displays. The design and specifications are focusing on MicroLED laser processing. For other processes and lasers a more detailed discussion might be necessary. We will get in contact with you soon!

    What is that makes micro led panels so expensive? Your process looks fairly simple. If we're allowed to know, of course...

    • @CoherentCorp
      @CoherentCorp  Před 2 lety +2

      MicroLED Display Manufacturing is in a very early stage and process chains are not completely defined. That makes the displays more expensive but seen for other technologies as well if it gets more mature and common the prices will drop.
      Coherent started early in the MicroLED market and the laser processes we are offering helping customers to reduce costs in the future by providing high throughput combined with high accuracy. These are the fundamentals for the success of MicroLED displays in the consumer market. Coherent is providing future-proof solutions (UVtransfer) already today.

      @@CoherentCorp Thank you. It looks similar to what ASML does but for microled. Amazing!
