    My two bits worth:
    When my grandfather came to this country in the late 1800s it was common for a small businessman to live in the apartment above, or behind his shop.
    So, you are carrying on an old tradition, having your apartment attached to your business.
    I am very impressed with your rig. I hope it serves you well.

I am a black guy who grew up in the inner city, my mother was a single Mom with three boys, on welfare for a while, the whole scenario. And I say this because I want people to realize that even though you come from that environment, yes, you still are supposed to have respect for the men and women who put that uniform on. Just like all black men aren't thugs, all white cops aren't racist. Straight up.

    WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TRUCK & GREAT SLEEPER!
    I'm a born & raised Atlanta girl.
    My Dad hauled produce for the Army during WWII....Later he had 18 wheelers & his own mechanic. He always wanter a RED PETERBUILT so I had the local dealer park a new one put in front of the business for his 70th birthday....Then the dealer stayed for his lunch/🎂 party & let him drive the Peterbuilt out I-20 to the AL line & back.
    My Dad died of COPD @ 87 & NEVER FORGOT HIS PETERBUILT BIRTHDAY!
    He would have LOVED your whole set-up!

    I am so happy for y'all. My dear wife and I first tent camped, then moved up to rigs. We were young and healthy. We sadly sold our last rig because it was becoming too much to manage, especially for her. It's so cool that you have combined your business to support the travelin' lifestyle. Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the walk thoughs; it reminded me of our units and how excited we used to get.

But until recently for me im 140,000lbs fully loaded so that would be a pipe dream. I just bought my own deck now switch to flat deck full time, going to be nice only being 80,000lbs or lighter.

      @aarongranger Před 3 lety +2

      I drive a desk all day in corporate America so I know little about the logistics. Can a single person run expediter trucks like this? I would figure that part of the 'expedited' work would rely on a pair of drivers, so one can rest while the other is on the clock (moving the load much more quickly). I've seen other expanded cab / custom trucks like this that look like they could pull normal trailers, but see people mention that it limits the weight / trailer length options, which might limit OTR loads.
      It almost seems like expanded sleeper cab means you should run expediter loads and expediter loads mean you need to be on a team, but I might be missing something or just not understanding.

    I had a tractor with a generator years ago and it was noisy. I went to Napa and got a Honda muffler and simply slipped it over there tailpipe. Made a huge difference in noise and helped with living in New England during the winter I needed it running when I was home for the heat and to keep the engine coolant from getting too cold. The neighbors stopped complaining about the noise.

    This is exactly what I wanted to do a couple years ago when I retired from the military. Let the truck help pay for the "RV" lifestyle. Wife wasn't hearing it so I just pay, pay, pay to pull a 5th wheel and live on the road. 145k for a truck and trailer that can never generate a dime of revenue.

I put food in the baskets according to the types of food that is same. You can even stack the baskets. Have you ever purchased something at the store. Got home and threw it in the fridge. I have baskets with labels. I have a basket for grapes,apples,fresh salad, sandwich meats and cheese. Ect but you get the ideal. And you never have to worry about forgetting a food item that gets lost in back of the fridge. God bless and stay safe.

    Hey guys, I have the same APU and like Jason said it is really loud. What I did with mine was added a muffler.
    I had an exhaust shop add 6’ of exhaust pipe to get it further away from tractor and they put a small muffler for a Honda car on it, it’s half as loud now and works fine, I had carrier sign off on the idea before installing muffler just to make sure I wasn’t voiding any warranties and they had no issues with it....just thought I would share that with ya all.

      If you don't use the front section alot it could be used for a portable work shop and storage for bikes or light weight scooters to use in down time. Loved the video.

    Y'all make me so stinking happy. This is a killer setup. Having spent about 4-5 yrs driving straight trucks for delivery in state and sometimes ajoining states (im in AZ) , the idea of this kind of setup is so appealing. So much more simple than tractor trailers in so many ways. I just didnt realize you could make straight trucks into long haulers
    Of my time driving them, i spent 2 yrs driving for a moving company. I'll tell you right now, that seperate section in the back of the box is going to be a gold mine. Especially with how clean and organized you two are; those high dollar clients will love it.
    Anyway, awesome video and congratulations. I now need to revisit my life goals now....

    In the Marines on ship we say take a Navy shower wet down , soap up , rinse off . Good old days 🕶

    • @kodonosaki7342
      @kodonosaki7342 Před 4 lety +10

      In WWII ships, if damage to their distillation equipment resulted in suboptimal potable/fresh water production, the first priority was always to the engineroom. Under extreme fresh water shortage, especially in subs, a basin of water, maybe 0.5 gallon of fresh water was allotted to each sailor, every ? days, for personal use, if available. If the ship or sub produced enough fresh water for a Navy shower, each sailor was allotted a 1 minute shower. From my Navy Bootcamp, Damage Control training: max 10 sec to wet face, head to toes; close shower valve, lather feet to head, face last; open shower valve, rinse face, head, down to feet, using what's left of your 1 min of water. In 1969 the USS Tulare LKA-112 returning stateside carried so many troops, that many had to camp out on the main deck. "Hollywood" showers and other water wastage was forbidden. Water usage by the crew and troops onboard, never threatened the ship's production capacity. I was there as an EN3, in A gang.

      I always used the loose leaf log sheets. I missed trucking for years after the accident that shut me down in 2004, but from what I hear other drivers say about e-logs, and all the new dumb-ass rules, I sure don't miss any of that nonsense.
      Best of luck to you guys still out there, go home safe every time.

    Finally, I always wondered why this design did not exist.
    It makes sense as sleeper trucks are already so comfortable, and designed for high milage, just make the sleeper cab a lot bigger, and boy can it tow anything.
