    Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥
Here some information about the band:
LOVEBITES are around since 2016 and their first EP and album came out in 2017. At this point they have already released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of live DVD/Blu-ray releases.
Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for best new band.
Then came Covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023.
Recently their album „Judgement Day“ was voted #15 in best metal albums of the year 2023 by readers of Metal Hammer UK. What is a fantastic result for a still relatively unknown band. That’s the power of the Wolfpack 🐺
LOVEBITES finished touring Japan in October. Earlier this year in March they played their comeback show, 2 evenings at the same venue. This was their first live gig since 2021 and the very first show with their new bassist Fami. There are 4 videos from evening one on their YT channel. One of them is „The Hammer of Wrath“ you just reacted to. „Stand and deliver“ is the newest release on LOVEBITES YT channel and was played on evening two of this double concert.
We the Wolfpack, name of LOVEBITES fans worldwide, are all hoping for a world tour next year. LOVEBITES have already announced 4 international festival appearances for 2024 (Prog Power - Atlanta/USA, Rock Imperium - Cartagena/Spain, Hellfest - Clisson/France, Resurrection Fest - Viveiro/Spain)
The band members are (including their official nicknames) ...
Asami on vocals (the one and only voice):
Has an amazing vocal range and vibrato, writes most of the lyrics, also did parts of the song writing for their latest 2 albums, she is a former ballerina and RnB/soul singer
Miyako on guitars, piano, keyboards (the golden touch):
She is the musical brain of the band, main composer and arranger, also she is a soulful but also shreddy guitar player and concert level pianist, she loves her pets and Star Wars
    Midori on guitars (crazy shredder):
Incredibly fast and technical guitar player, does songwriting for a few songs, also she is a body fitness athlete
Haruna on drums (little big engine):
Best drummer in the universe (IMO), wrote one of their songs including lyrics, creates handmade miniature fake food creator
Fami on bass since 2022 (shining fingers):
Absolute bass prodigy with outstanding technique, she speaks faster than sonic speed as she plays and smiles non-stop
Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger):
she is very solid bass player and astonishing bass player, she wrote several of the songs for the band’s albums 1-3
The band was Miho‘s idea, she and Haruna were the founding members!

I had to smile when you said, "Oh, we're getting a solo!". Bro, that was nothing. That was a short warm up. They are famous for their virtuoso solos. Some take one and a half minutes.
Had to smile again when you complimented Fami (the bassist) on having learned her lines so well. She had a career as a solo bassist before joining the band, making bass covers of J-pop on CZcams, and has her own EP out, with funky pop with a bit of harder rock thrown in (a great EP, great morning music, equivalent to a very strong cup of coffee). Again, that was nothing for her.

LOVEBITES - The Hammer Of Wrath lyrics:
What's the worst way to die?
    Burning to death, or drowning?
    Everyone laughs in derision
    There's no hope at all
Why is the world rotting away
Howling in pain, they slowly die
All of the sorrow is murderous
    The insanity
    (Burn up)
    They're calling me
    (Burn up)
    It's do or die
    (Burn up)
    Get ready for hell
(Bring down justice to the wicked)
Don't look away from the mistakes
Open your eyes, and see the truth
When lightning cracks the blackened sky
Listen to the screams of distress
It's like a bad dream but it's not
No way to get out, a living nightmare
Bring down the Hammer of Wrath
Who will be the next to burn?
    God only knows the victim
    Everyone knows they are innocent
    All the hope is gone
    In despair they pass away
There was no hope to begin with
Even the angels are giving up
    Looking down on us
Will this night ever break dawn

Fami was recruited in a long (worldwide) audition with hundreds of applicants. Miyako also finished her piano solo EP this year. And she did a lot of duo guitar sessions with Midori. I'm sure, they did a lot more...

Welcome to the realm of the Wolfpack (Lovebites fans from around the world) ! These amazing ladies play a seamless and innovative blend of speed-power/thrash/prog/neoclassical metal/heavy rock/power ballads which makes their sound unique. Some of the thrashier songs don't truly showcase Asami's (lead vocalist) broad and powerful mezzo-soprano & melodic range, but as you dive further into the rabbit hole that's Lovebites, you'll realize what an incredible vocalist and stage general she is. As you have just witnessed, this band is phenomenal LIVE ! As such, I'll recommend another track from the same concert - "Judgement Day" LIVE : czcams.com/video/yYEUGlFNBKc/video.html . Prior to singing she practiced ballet before going into R&B, where she sang with various artists and headlined some shows in clubs. There are surprisingly a few videos of Asami from 10 years ago singing at one particular club! She is the real deal and her voice is exceptional and showing no signs of struggling!

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.
They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD-“”Hammer of Wrath”, “Judgement Day”, “Nameless Warrior” and “Liar”. All of them are barn-burners. They have also posted “Stand and Deliver” from the second concert.
    Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Their first song with Fami is “Judgement Day” czcams.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/video.html
The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."
Here are more clips you should check out:
“Set the World on Fire” czcams.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/video.html from their 2021 concert DVD “Heavy Metal Never Dies”.
    “Don’t Bite the Dust” czcams.com/video/oHnKGEj1CMc/video.html, from the same concert;
"Edge of the World" and "We the United", back to back: czcams.com/video/sl0-U-ykJCU/video.html They form an incredible journey from darkness and despair to light and hope.
    Also, “Empty Daydream”, which starts as a ballad and becomes a real rocker: czcams.com/video/lXh_uMM94jU/video.html;
    Perhaps their greatest masterpiece, a showcase of multi-instrumental virtuosity and even classical dance “A Frozen Serenade” czcams.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/video.html;
And their most reacted-to video, “Holy War”: czcams.com/video/bgAxpEpEcno/video.html
Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. She is self-taught on the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: czcams.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/video.html.
For a thrasher with heavy Slayer and Metallica vibes, “Break the Wall” czcams.com/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/video.html includes two gorgeous and completely contrasting solos by M&M.
For a heart-stopping ballad, “Epilogue” czcams.com/video/1ynnXDfEnnY/video.html (this includes a second song, your choice whether or not to react to both)
While you will sometimes hear you should only react to live clips, actually their MV’s are epic and worth seeing. Here are four of the most spectacular:
    "Shadowmaker" czcams.com/video/Brmoln5Gxus/video.html
This is the song that blew up and melted faces all over the world
    "When Destinies Align" czcams.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/video.html
    "Glory to the World" czcams.com/video/-wJtD2XEXH4/video.html
    "Winds of Transylvania" czcams.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/video.html.
Finally, the audio tracks of some of the new album are up on youtube, and worth checking out. The band clearly came out swinging and wanted to make a statement. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself!
You'll get lots of suggestions, just one thing: don't bother with Bloodstock footage, the sound quality is poor. Best to take suggestions with actual links. Also, you can’t go wrong with any of their official clips. Welcome to the Wolf-Pack!

For me, Lovebites are the gold standard of metal these days. They come at you with different flavors of metal from 80s-style metal., thrash and power metal all blended in to create Lovebite's own style. The talent of all these ladies is amazing. I have been a fan for about 3 years now and cannot get enough of them. Be prepared to go down a rabbit hole you will not want to come out of.

‘Swan Song’ next. Miyako, the guitarist on the right, plays a Chopin intro on the grand piano on stage. After the intro she moves over to guitar and returns to the piano for the outro. Miyako is a classically trained pianist which becomes obvious when you watch her play.

Not bad for being on hiatus and not performing for 2 YEARS and the bass player is new and this was her FIRST LIVE show with the band!! Insane talent in this group at every instrument. Power, Thrash, Prog, Classical, Acoustic, piano, and every influence from the 1980's Metal age forward all blended (often together in the same song) and brought to a new level by these musicians. BTW most of the Japanese bass players don't use a pic. LIVE this band is an experience not to be missed and they NEVER disappoint, but do them LIVE for the total experience.

The band is named after the Grammy winning song Love Bites (So Do I) by Halestorm. Lead singer , Asami, has joined Lzzy at Download 2019 to perform that song. Miyako and Midori (blond pony tail) shredding on guitar. Haruna is a beast on drums. This 2023 concert is the live debut of new bassist Fami, this song is the opener. Fami joined last year Oct, after original bassist , and band co-founder, Miho left in 2021. Formed in 2016, they have 4 full albums, the latest, Judgement Day, was released early this year. This song is from the 1st record, Awaken From Abyss. Some of their songs lean towards thrash, some lean towards power metal, and some ballads. 60+ songs to choose from. Some of their influences are Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest ,and Helloween. The solos? Yeah!! Often back to back solos and then unison shredding.
For more try Holy War, Thunder Vengeance, Break the Wall, and Swan Song live from Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020. On Swan Song , Miyako plays a Chopin intro on piano. And more from this 2023 concert, Judgement Day, Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down), Nameless Warrior, and Liar.

First LIVE show since 2 years of 'hiatus'. First show for bassist Fami as band member & with crowd she can hear cheering & yelling. Former u2b phenom playing in her room. All LOVEBITES songs have a solo by each guitarist & almost all have a harmony duet, if not many harmonized guitar parts/segments. If you like solos or as Miyako calls the duets, "twin solos" then LOVEBITES is a band you will enjoy every song.

Great Reaction! Enjoyed the Livestream, but it's always nicer if the Poster interacts, at least a little. This was indeed their first time back Live onstage in 23 months. Lost their bassist (and founder, *Miho* ) for personal reasons in Aug '21, and *Asami* (vocals) and *Miyako* (dark hair guitar) had babies. They added *Fami* (21 now . . 20 at this show) in Oct of '22. It was also Fami's *1st* performance in front of a real crowd. This show was their 'Resurrection' as a Live band. The other amazing guitarist is *Midori* - she was 'born' to Shred. That drummer you respected was 4'9" Nuclear Powercell *Haruna* - (co-founder of Lovebites). She is the Queen of thrashy dbl-kicks and Cymbal Accents. No one drives a song forward like Haruna does! 🤘🏻🐺🐺🐺🤘🏻

Nice reaction from a man of the trade. That always pleases us fans the most. I estimate that I now know 10 female Japanese double lead guitarists who are absolutely world class. Midori and Miyako from Lovebites and Hazuki and Saki from Nemophila are the best of the best. I hope we will see more reaction videos from you about Lovebites and other Japanese female heavy metal bands. Let's go dude ... come with us to a new world of female super musicians in Japan.
    LB History :
Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in
2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany
2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England
2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium
2019 - Download Festival in Spain.
In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world and it is very rare that in these times a rock band comes so far forward.

This is an overview of LOVEBITES's 55 self-written songs and 3+6+1 covers of different Heavy Metal genres and styles. Not a single bad song, no fillers, just awesomeness. Take any of them, and you won't be disappointed. They revive old Heavy Metal with fresh sound, which makes them the future bar of Heavy Metal music...

Well the recommended songs for this band are all of them, but ones that are of note are probably Holy War, Swan Song (with Chopin intro), Edge of the World, Judgement Day and Stand and Deliver (all Live of course).
That said there are a number of excellent bands from Japan that are well worth checking out: Nemophila, Hanabie, Band-Maid, Doll$Box/Gacharic Spin (they have 4 members in common but different genre of music), Asterism and many more. Many of the all female bands know each other to some extent. Lovebites and Nemophila are kind of but not exactly related (they both have ex-members of Destrose) and have been seen at each others shows and hanging out in their down time. Since they share large parts of a fan base we are hoping they tour together or at least play the same festival, but that hasn't happened yet.

Thanks for reacting to LOVEBITES, one of the most musically talented metal bands on the planet. If you like old school (80's inspired) metal, then you simply need to continue your journey down the LOVEBITES rabbit hole. They have about 60 songs, with exactly zero bad songs, and several which are legitimate masterpieces.
Regarding Asami's vocals, the issue you probably have (as I once did) is not so much the "tone" of her voice, but rather her imperfect enunciation as she sings. As a Japanese woman singing in English, it can be difficult to understand her, which can be off-putting at first. But LOVEBITES fans learn to treat this as a "feature", and not a "bug", and I for one could not even imagine them with a different singer.

    • @jameswolfblood
      @jameswolfblood  Před 7 měsíci

That's a good way to put it. I'll be honest, I didn't realize she was singing in English, until near the end. Which might explain why Her voice ended up growing on me!

Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Lovebites is one of the best bands in our country. Their live performance is much better than MVs. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

  • @alekhidell

Get used to the idea that LOVEBITES has one setting…excellent. Every song, every performance, every concert. This is 0.6 percent of their released material so far, and without an enforced break of two years it would undoubtedly be an even smaller percentage. They are all virtuoso musicians, they all genuinely respect and appreciate their fan base and they always perform with smiles on their faces. They love what they do and they thrive on the fact that their audience loves it too. It’s a mutual feedback loop and as someone in that audience, at that show, front and centre, I can tell you that there is no concert experience that comes close. At 64, having seen many of the greats I can tell you in total seriousness that LOVEBITES have no peers, past or present. They are the best thing to happen to music. Ever.

This level of talent and musical skills is not unusual in Japanese Bands. To know how and where it comes from, go to JRock News and read the 2 part interview with Marty Friedman. He is a former guitarist with Megadeath. Today he lives and works in Japan. He does an excellent job of explaining how the Japanese culture and education system supports the arts with the encouragement and structure to develop the talent and skills you just watched.

If this was your first Lovebites experience, you have seen nothing yet. These women are phenomenal. I recommend their other pieces, all of them. They don't have one weak song.

One, the base player is like 20 years old and she just replaced the old base player. And this is basically here first time in front of an audience. Two the singers voice. Everyone is iffy on it at first but it usually quickly gro2s on you. And they are singing in English. But like with many rock bands it's hard to tell what they are saying.

Lovebites is probably the best new metal band on the planet right now. The level of talent in this band is almost unfair. Before joining Lovebites, Asami (singer) had not even listened to metal music, she comes from a R&B background (even studied a little in the US). For Fami (bass) this was her first large concert and her first concert after joining Lovebites and this was the first song of that concert. What you saw here is just the tip of the iceberg of her talent. Here is a cover for a song called Alien Alien she recorded when she was only 16.

Other Japanese bands for you to check out:
Band Maid - Real Existence They are more hard rock than metal.
    MAXIMUM THE HORMONE - A.L.I.E.N.
    Hanabie - We Love Sweets
    Nemophila - Dissension
    Galneryus - Angel Of Salvation
Unlucky Morpheus - CADAVER/REVADAC They play CADAVER, then play it backwards note for note, REVADAC. They have a heavy metal violinist who also does Van Halen covers.
    DOLL$BOXX - Take My Chance

have you ever heard of Unlucky Morpheus? it's also a japanese metal band (not all-female tho) kinda supergropu since most of members used to be in other pretty good bands before, i highly recommend you checking out their live stuff, songs like Black Pentagram, Angreifer or Dignity of Spirit, they describe their style as "technical melodic speed metal", but in practice it's more like power metal with melodic death metal and neoclassical parts, and most important fact - they're having fun on stage

Not my favorite Lovebites song as I tend to prefer their more melodic pieces rather than pure thrash like this one, though it does give you an idea of how good they are. I would recommend checking out Liar, Judgement Day, or Shoot em Down from that same concert.

The best version audio and performance is the one with Miho, and the 2 intros on tape as the crowd warms up and the girls walk on. IMO of course, not much reverb and the main riff sounds heaps more chunky. here it is >czcams.com/video/otJZPUCwyOM/video.html
