I worked at his dad's house a long time ago. His dad had a bunch of gold records from KC and the Sunshine Band and several very expensive(he told me) saxophones.

I moved from rhythm guitar to base in our band in Jr High School. That was in 1967. This interview exactly tracks where I am today. 55 years later, playing with musicians that i started with 50 years ago in college. I worship these players and their guts to follow their dreams! Thank you Joe for continuing to provide us with your in depth interviews and thoughts regarding our music history!

When I watched Get Back I had my headphones on and it felt like I was in the room. It was incredible. I played as John in a tribute band back in the 90's and learned so much. I can really relate to this interview. Thank you again Joe 👍🏻😎

Hi Joe. Another awesome interview. You are either very gifted at interviewing artists, finding great artists to interview or most likely, both. "I like music" was a wonderful short line. Cheers.

Great interview, I met well playing with Oz Noy in Toronto about eight or nine years ago. Anton fig was on drums, I had no idea they were playing with Oz and it was a great surprise. We hung out and chatted between sets.

Joe, a great interview with a great player. Will mentioned a Beatles tune "She's Leaving Home" at around 18:45. I don't see that song in my "Beatles Complete Songbook" and was wondering where I can find it. Thanks.

15:00 "Yeah man, even they wanted to have a five piece Beatles."
This statement is deeper than it appears. Early on Paul hung out at the clubs in London and ended up being good mates with Mike Smith. He was the lead singer for the Dave Clark Five. They talked about him joining the Beatles as he was a real strong KB player w/a great voice. He was a songwriter, too having written Glad All Over and a couple more. Dave Clark had Smith locked down with a services contract that The Beatles would have had to buy out in order to get him. Brian Epstein discouraged the move as MS had a real strong R&B voice he felt would overpower the blend and the KB would change the band's overall sound. It was never seriously considered because there'd be so much to unravel before the path would be clear. Then John, George and Ringo would have to sign off on it, too. So, nothing ever came of it, but the possibility was on the table for a few months. One can only imagine.

Just an average bass player who made it big on Letterman. Not impressed
