Toonami was great for kids, very clever in how they got the audience engaged. Every message was beneficial in the golden age of Toonami

So happy for Slim to be recognized after his years of hard work restoring these old toonami promos. Shoutout to metroidman as well.
TBF, he did borrow most of the promos from Jeff Harris of The X Bridge, who recorded them on beta and VHS back in the day and uploaded them to Toonami Digital Arsenal, but Slim still put in a ton of impressive work over the past decade that has gone largely under the radar.

I never watched DBZ as a kid but I wish I did, I watched it when they first released the volume sets. I bought them all as they were released and became a DBZ fanatic. I couldn’t vibe with Super tho and turned to Naruto and now I’m also a Naruto fantatic.

This brought back so many waves of nostalgia. The original toonami was the greatest thing ever. To this day, every person I talk to in my generation about old cartoons brings up old school Toonami. Ah the good ol days

I think the greatest thing about toonami (besides ostensibly introducing anime to the west) was how it was the one kid's centered programming that didn't pander or talk down to kids. It respected the intelligence of the adolescent while still giving them solid advice and nuggets of wisdom. Tom felt like the "cool" older brother to me, as corny as that sounds aha

Ocean Dub Piccolo is the greatest.
The one & only true Piccolo, next to the original Japanese Piccolo of course.
I remember many years ago finally meeting Scott McNeil & him signing a Piccolo picture for me. He told me I should get Sabat to sign it as well. I remember responding with a laugh & saying "Haha, Sabat? No. Your the true Piccolo. Your autograph is all I need". Scott was both amused & moved by my comment. He smiled, gave me a handshake of respect, & told me it was a honor. I will always remember that day.

So weird hearing the original English dub DBZ voices again, before Funimation took over and remade the Saiyan and Namek sagas with the modern and current voice actors.
