  • Hi In this Video I diagnose why my Ford Transit Mk7 2009 doesn't start when cold.
I use a clamp on ammeter and a multimeter to diagnose a complete failure of all 4 glow plugs. I remove all the plugs and fit new ones to once again be able to start when cold.
I hope this video is of some use to you if it is you may consider buying me a coffee:

Great video, I had a Mk1 Diesel transit with a York engine in the that had the 1 little glow plug in the top of the air filter that never worked. Resorted to a can of easy start then it was no going back, had to use it most mornings.

Thanks, MK1!!! That's a long time ago. Yep once you are on the easy start it's hard to get off it 😂 thanks for watching.

Great job. If the mass flow sensor is bad, would the vehicle still start. I just purchased a mk7, and I am having a starting problem.

There are two sensors on this engine i think, one by the air intake from the air box and one just before the inlet manifold. If they are dirty it will still start but not run very well. Check the eco for codes because a faulty airflow sensor will ping up quickly.

Fantastic video Andy and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
I can remember in the mid to late 70's driving a firms van and in the mornings I had to press and hold a red button on the dashboard to warm the glo plugs up before trying to start the engine.
That is also the 1st time I have seen what a glo plug looks like.
So pleased everything worked out well for you in the end.
What are you going to do about the oil leak?
    Take care Andy.
    Cheers, Huw
