Jungkook has three great attributes- great ears, great memory and great voice.
. He has a background vocals credit on almost every BTS song.
Perfect pitch can be defined as a singer who can sing any note on cue… which jungkook can do… jungkook knows the notes names… but he’s being normal insecure jungkook who always second guesses himself… and always downplays his skills and achievements… his hard work. How many times have you heard jungkook say he doesn’t do something well that everyone knows damn well that he’s incredible at and has mastered ? Literally ALL the time. This is a perfect example of this. Jungkook hears notes in music that most ppl don’t… this is his perfect pitch he was born with.. Jin here clearly knows there’s been some talk about jungkook having perfect pitch behind the scenes… and jungkook did not deny having perfect pitch… and he mentions not knowing the note names.. which is why he’s not just confirming it… he’s doubting himself.. but once he starts he knows the bells perfectly even though other members are humming completely different notes as he’s going to answer… even though as he’s answering jimin and hobi both yell DDAENG… Jk stops just to look up at the staff bc he’s confused… but he finishes the last note… and now even though two hyungs have said he’s wrong… he still confidently finishes his answer not changing anything… and is right.
Jungkook learning to play guitar online …clearly has musical knowledge and understands notes well enough to teach himself how to play guitar that way.. learning practically a full song when he barely started playing guitar lol
Other than them.. what really solidified Jk having perfect pitch for me was the story Charlie told about how he finally found out that jungkook does have perfect pitch.. and how he kinda wondered if jk had perfect pitch after working with him for “we don’t talk anymore,” but working with him on left and right… he said that he found out JK does have perfect pitch and that he knew back when they performed years ago… but “jungkook was too shy to say it.”
That’s the most jungkook thing jungkook could do… and there would be no reason for him to make this up especially bc he wasn’t even being asked anything about perfect pitch or anything like that… but about how easy it was bc jks vocals were perfect when he sent them for left and right and Charlie said he didn’t do anything except copy and paste them in.. and jungkook being easy to work with was how it came up.
Regardless.. jungkook is a vocal anomaly and nothing about how he has learned to sing has been normal… jungkook basically teaching himself by learning his favorite songs in any language… and always singing these covers with bits of the originals vocal characteristics and colors blended in with his vocal styles…. He can pick up on those little nuances in others voices and replicate them flawlessly… his vocal stability and power is so under appreciated in this fandom bc he is really held back in BTS music… and I’m so excited for his solo album. That’s all that really matters. I know JK has perfect pitch… but am done caring if anybody else does lol it’s such a small speck on the exceptional vocalist and artist that jungkook is. He’s only just beginning !!!

1:34 lol not only did he not get distracted by the multiple melodies that the other members are humming that are not accurate… but jimin and hobi both shout “ddaeng,” bc they think he is wrong… but he wasn’t wrong and he finishes… and they ask him to repeat what he just played over again without slowing down, even though he only slowed down bc they yelled ddaeng so he looked up to see the staff, but even though they said ddaeng… he replays exactly what he had just played and it was perfect again. A lot of ppl would second guess themselves if two other ppl are saying you’re wrong. That just is a testament to how sure he actually was

As a vocalist myself, it is important to know solfège/scale degrees and how they relate to each other. Not perfect pitch, but I can tell he has very well trained and developed relative pitch. Our boi knows his stuff

Some people forget that relative pitch can get to be just as good as perfect pitch. A relative pitch well trained and develop can get to be confused with perfect pitch 'cause it does the same thing, identify notes, just that the process they do for it isn't the same. And i don't think he has perfect pitch but i do think he has a very well trained relative pitch (so good that people confuses it with perfect pitch)
Same here! And it’s even more impressive if that is the case cause you’re born with perfect pitch, but him being able to work on it so much it leads to people having to discuss whether he does or not is incredible!

The person who made this video doesn’t really know what they’re talking about. Perfect pitch is the ability to identify any note (for example identifying the note of glass breaking) what Jungkook has is relative pitch and he sounds fantastic and has great musicality and understanding of music but again most singers have that. With this video’s logic every singer has perfect pitch.

There’s no way of knowing unless he gets tested and to be frank, it is never that deep. Love Jungkook’s voice and his great ear but we don’t have examples of him having or not having perfect pitch. I’m just saying it’s frustrating when people who aren’t trained musically or don’t have a background in music comment on whether or not someone is gifted when they have no idea what they’re actually talking about.

@@borntoslay3996 from the viral bell test video we can tell that it's not perfect pitch. But sure, would be interesting if he did an actual perfect pitch test. However, judging different videos of what he can do, I feel almost certain that he doesn't.
It's pretty annoying seeing a bunch of bts fans claiming things that they have no idea about. 2 in my family have perfect pitch and I come from a very musical background. Being a person that's somewhat competent in that field, it's frustrating when people throw these words around 😅😊
@@borntoslay3996 I heard Puth’s statement as well and have listened to other artists talking about his music abilities. I’m a BTS fan after all. Perfect pitch does not equal good music ability. My mom has perfect pitch (confirmed) but she doesn’t have good music abilities. My dad is a musician and has insane music abilities (he is a music professor and a hobby performer) but he does not have perfect pitch. My younger sister has perfect pitch too. So many factors plays in whether your music abilities will come easily or not. For example, if you have good fine motor skills, playing violin will certainly be easier for you than for someone like RM who seems to lack it. Jungkook definitely has well developed fine motor skills, hence partly why he’s good at painting and would probably be good at playing instruments if he tried.
I’ve seen many videos of him when he’s showing his music abilities and from what I can judge for now, he doesn’t have perfect pitch. Puth’s comment on what he based his judgement on says absolutely nothing. I can easily do the same and I don’t have perfect pitch. My mom and sister can literally identify at least one note from an airplane passing by, and can identify notes from a glass shattering or a knock. They are always spot on. That’s actual perfect pitch but since you’re brother has it too, you probably already know ☺️.
I’ve heard ARMYS throwing around the most ridiculous claims. Apparently everyone in BTS have higher IQs than influential geniuses throughout history, they are music geniuses like Beethoven with perfect pitch and they are the next Leonardo Da Vinci and will be the next Zlatan in football. I’m consciously overreacting now but you get the point on how ridiculous it is when fans claim they are super humans and look at them as some Gods. It’s not healthy. I hope those fans are at least children that will mature and grow away from that mindset as they get more life experience.
@@borntoslay3996 yes, you’re right. Perfect pitch doesn’t equal being able to name the notes with words. That’s a common misconception. It is however easier to demonstrate it if you know. My mom can’t read music at all even though my dad is a music professor. Her profession and hobbies are not music related so. She learned the names of the notes so my dad and his colleagues could test her out more, but now she has forgot it like your brother. My sister knows some music theory and can name the notes. Perfect pitch is basically being able to imitate the exact notes of sounds you hear in almost any given situation. You’re also able to distinguish those micro differences. My mom knows how to do that and my sister. The funny thing is, they aren’t as interested in music while me, my dad and brother, who don’t have perfect pitch, are all very engage in it, lol. I guess many with relative pitch often develop another appreciation for music. Either way, perfect pitch isn’t necessarily “superior” to relative pitch since those are very separate hearing skills. Having both would of course be the best.
From what I can judge for now, I feel ALMOST certain that Jungkook does not have perfect pitch. Especially since I can do all that, even before I learned music theory, too. The only thing that would explain it is if I’ve had a hidden perfect pitch which I doubt, lol. The bell test if not, is demonstrating someone’s relative pitch, focus and memory. The test is about rhythm and notes in relations to each other.
Jungkook is welcome to prove me wrong of course, but this is my opinion, being somewhat musically competent, for now. Another reason I doubt it is because his profession is music. He has trained and worked with very talented and competent music/singing coaches, artists, producers over the years. I think someone would have noticed it and tested him.
I feel like it’s hard to find an interview with Puth where he doesn’t mention that he has perfect pitch or something about it. I think he just says it because he always has to mention perfect pitch 😂😂. I’m not a hater though. He seems like a genuinely nice dude.
@@borntoslay3996 you got some good points, I’ll admit. However, I actually did a similar “bell” tests that was even harder before I began playing my first instrument and learned music theory. I knew pretty much nothing about music at that time. For having a music professor as a dad, I actually started my journey fairly late (I think I was about 10 or 11ish). He used to do all kinds of tests on me and my siblings for fun. That’s how he discovered that my sister has perfect pitch just like mom.
Music has always been easy for me. I learned it much faster than classmates and other people around me. I always remembered the right key of a song and I understood rhythm well even as a beginner. The first song I learned on drums was Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2 and that’s not for beginners. I learned it after 2 practice sessions, but despite having music as my strength, I still don’t have perfect pitch.
The bell test again, doesn’t measure anything that has to do with perfect pitch. It’s about listening to the notes, repeating and sensing patterns. People with no musical competence or perfect pitch can still distinguish between notes, memorize and sense rhythm.
The first instrument I learned was violin. I used to go to a beginner violin ensemble class where we were taught something similar to a thing called the Suzuki method. Most of us were at an upper beginner level at that time. A big part of the Suzuki method is listening and repeating by ear similar to what Jungkook did with the bells. I don’t think all kids in that class had perfect pitch nor were musically competent yet. Still they could repeat what the teacher was playing.
So many factors determines whether or not you’ll be musically gifted. I personally think Jungkook might be similar to someone like me, that it’s just understood very easily despite not having perfect pitch.
Anyways, interesting discussion. Always fun to exchange knowledge with someone in a civil way. I was a bit nervous that I would be brutally attacked by an angry army, lol. I think we can come to the conclusion that we agree to disagree at certain points, and that’s okay :).

Perfect pitch is the ability to know exactly what note is being played just by hearing it etc. this is just having an on pitch voice. No hate just correcting your use of the term, it’s very misleading. But yeah Jungkook has amazing pitch when singing :)
