Official name of so called Mugal Empire is "Riyasat E Hingdoostan ریاساتِ ہندوستان" in Persian and "Mamlakat Al Hindia مملكة الهندية" in Arabic.
And From Arabic Hindia modern term "India" evolved via latin..

The glaring evidence of Aurangzeb's tolerance is standing right in the Capital city - Aurangabad (named after Aurangzeb) of the then Mughal empire as the "temple" of Khajuraho riddled with nude and vulgar sculptures in utterly inhumane and disgraceful sexual acts involving animals and orgies.

Mughal architectural buildings are so famous in India that people from different countries visit India solely to see them. I recall Aurangzeb subtly mentioned as the worst mughal emperor from history books whereas Akbar was mentioned as one of the greatest. I read Aurangzeb killed his brothers but the books choose to skip the mughal legacy of brothers fighting for the throne.

His demands were, Sambhaji shall surrender and convert to Islam. When Sambhaji rejected this offer, Aurangzeb ordered his men to impale Sambhaji's eyes with heated metal rods and plucking his nails one by one. This is how much of a peaceful muslim ruler he was.

In 1679 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj protested against Jizya tax, Shivaji Maharaj in a letter to Aurangzeb wrote: I have learnt that because of your wars against me your treasury is exhausted So, you have decreed that Jizya be collected from the Hindus. Your ancestors Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jehan could have also levied the Jizya but they rid their hearts of bigotry because they knew all men, high or low, were created by God and they represented various religions. Hence, their prosperity increased and they were successful. In your reign, the army is uneasy, traders unhappy, Muslims cry and Hindus seethe with anger. You have lost many forts and provinces Since I shall not desist from inflicting more devastation you will lose the rest, also!

As a history enthusiast, I was always fascinated by Medieval India. I have read many books on Mughal Empire and among them are books that are taught to post graduate students of India. Nowhere did they mention any brutality on the side of Aurangzeb against Hindus. In fact a book quoated an Indian Hindu Historian said " We have no evidence that Aurangzeb destroyed Hindu temples, even if he did that would be never more than the temples destroyed by Hindu kings themselves to show their might to other Hindu kingdoms "
Coz most of the history in our books is distorted and is overly influenced with mughals.

I wonder why Indians have no problem with Afghan Mahmud of Ghazni. In 1025 Mahmud raided Gujarat, plundering the Somnath temple and breaking its jyotirlinga. He took away booty of 2 million dinars. The conquest of Somnath was followed by a punitive invasion of Anhilwara.

1. Why didn't you explain about re-imposing of jizya tax and imposing extra taxes on non-muslim traders by Aurangzeb
2.If Aurangzed was that good administrator, A perfect statesmen, A great religious being (who liked replacing others religious sites with mosques by going against the quran)then why did his empire started to fall apart after his successfull tenure.
Q1. Aurangzeb imposed Jiziya because he was a fundamentalist Muslim. He also damaged temples of regions where kings confronted him and refused to accept his rule, like Gyanvapi. On other hand he also built temples in regions governed by him and where he did not face rebellion.
Q2. How is Aurangzeb responsible for his successors turning out to be incompetent? When Alamgir himself ruled he expanded Hindostan's borders from Peshawar to Deccan. He was a conqueror and an abled administrator.

Aurangzeb’s orders to harm specific temples is seen as symptomatic of a larger vendetta against Hindus. I don't think Aurangzeb has gotten an honest scholarship, either side has highlighted the part which favors them for agenda.

*He wagged an unfruitfull war in the deccan for a quarter centuary(25years) and he has also failed at last in that war
*He has not handdled a single major rebellion in an efficient manner .All of his actions were only fuelling those rebellions which at last overthrowed the mighty mughal empire.
Note:-please don't cleansify him ,no one has a part in his actions (glorify other farsighted ,efficient rullers like akhbar, shah jahan(they were also muslims) and e.t.c to pramote religious harmony)
I thought there must be something in history about Aurangazeb that was intentionally skipped but after watching I am truly disappointed that whatever the Audrey gang claimed is nothing but the concoction of lies and misinterpretations.
1. Did Aurangazeb kill guru Teg bahadur? Ans- yes but they tried to whitewash it by making arguments like he just tried to destroy the armed rebellion.
2. Did he reimpose jizya on non-Muslims which was abolished by Akbar? Ans- still yes
3. Did he destroy Hindu mandirs ?
Ans- still yes but they tried to find out the intention of alamgir who killed all his brothers and imprisoned his own father .
Now let me tell u why the Muslim rulers destroyed Hindu and Jain temples again and again. Because temples are the centre of life of Hindus be it economic , educational or social everything revolved around temples. So they realised if they destroy temples normally whole system would eventually collapse.

The same is also mentioned in the Varanasi Gazetteer which was published in the year 1965. It is clearly stated on page number 57 that on April 9, 1669, Aurangzeb issued a decree to his governors to destroy the Hindu temples and schools in Kashi (Varanasi).
