There are some covers that aren't great yet I like them because they work for the book(s) + also sometimes there is nostalgia involved. And kind of the way you described some as campy. I know people don't like the original covers for the Vampire Academy series but when I bought those books last year I specifically looked for the original covers because I think it goes well for what those books are. ALSO they very much remind me of Buffy promotional photos- like, they knew the audience! Same for the original Mortal Instruments series. I got those books around the time the newer editions came out and I did not want the new covers. Part of it is just me being pretentious about wanting _original_ covers and editions. But I don't really think they're bad.
Sometimes you just have to bask the original camp covers of things!
yeah the original VA covers aren’t great but neither are the new ones and the originals are much more sentimental so that’s what i have

I think this is mostly an older issue (since most books I see around now days have the uk/us covers) but swedish covers are some of the more horrendous out there. The secret history, lunar chronicles, shadow and bone trilogy are some of the worst I've ever seen. It's so strange too since the covers for the nevermoor series are beautifully illustrated. And they're all different publishers so we can't even blame one for poor taste.

The only good Swedish book covers (as in better than the English ones) are the Harry Potter ones, they are actually really nice!

Cassandra Clare's book is polish edition. And this is not the only book that was disgraced by polish publishing industry, believe me :D
I should’ve realized because I am Polish! 😂 my great grandparents are from Poland but I never learned Polish and just have a very Polish last name that no one can pronounce 😩
hahaha that Twilight cover was on the book I originally read from the library, and it was shortly before the movie came out as I remember reading my teen magazine at the time talking about the movie, while I was reading the book and I was so excited. For shame, haha!

@@sarawithoutanH I honestly started reading them because my Facebook book club group kept hyping them so we all read a few. They sounded weird enough for me to read. I read quite a few and while they were spicy, there is not much world progression. I felt like they could of wrapped a lot of plot into half the books. The coupling felt repetitive. 😅
