  • Hey there friends! I wanted to make a video teaching you how to make this macrame wall hanging. It’s one of the first patterns I learned how to make, so even if you are a complete beginner you can definitely complete this!
IMPORTANT - I realized I made a mistake at 34:47 - the cords you use as fringe in the back of the piece should be about 20 inch long (1 ft 8 inch), not 1 ft long
If you like my pattern but aren’t in the mood to make it, you can purchase it here:
    Etsy Shop: www.etsy.com/l...
    Supplies needed:
1 dowel at least one foot long
Macrame cord, single strand, 4 mm
    Measurements:
    Inner section:
6 cords, 8 ft long each
    Middle section:
4 cords, 10 ft long each
    Outer section:
8 cords, 12 ft long each
    Outer fringe:
About 46 cords, 12 inch each
    Inner fringe:
About 12 cords, 20 inch each
    Knots shown in this video:
    Larks Head Knot

    Double Half Hitch Knot
    • Double Half Hitch - Ma...
    Square Knot
    • Square Knot - Macrame ...
    Spiral Knot
    • Spiral Knot - Macrame ...
    Where to find supplies:
The dowel I used in this video was from Michaels

The macrame cord I used was from my favorite Etsy shop. There are a lot of high quality macrame cords sold on Etsy, and another great option is Ganxxet

I don’t usually comment on videos but I find your videos so clear and informative so much so that I’ve been able to learn macrame because of you! So thank you for the time taken to compile your videos and please keep up the good work posting macrame videos as you’re extremely helpful and gifted! I found other CZcams videos too complicated and rushed! I am so grateful!! God bless you 🥰🙏🏼

Hi! I love this tutorial and am so proud of my progress! It's such a beautiful easy piece and the video is very easy to follow. I hope it is okay to make a suggestion. 8 feet was not long enough for me. I would suggest 10 as I have gotten to the end of one pattern and ran out of string.

For the inner section, 8ft long with 4mm cord is NOT enough. You will run out. I ran out because some knots took up more cord than the others. To play it safe, I’d go at least up to 12ft!

I love this tutorial but I ran out of cord for the last two big diamonds. The two cords I was using to tie the square knots in the middle. I cut the cord to the correct size so I’m not sure why this happened or how to complete now? Tying more cord on to them seems like it would wreck the pattern :(

Hi I tried this last night but I ran out of cord (the two working cords) on the first two sections so wasn’t able to join them together and had to unpick them both. Reading the comments, no one else seems to have had this problem so I’m assuming I’ve done something wrong, can you advise please? Is it correct that the whole length of the cord is eight feet long so four feet when folded in half? This is a lovely project and would really like to finish it. Many thanks

I would just try it on a few pieces and see. That way if you don't like it you can just replace those few pieces. Fringe is a personal preference...some like it unraveled and some don't. I go either way depending on the piece. So one piece may look amazing where another looks awful. 😉

I really like this pattern so I got myself some macrame cord and got to work. One of my 8ft cords ran out and I had to somehow take along another strand, defiantly not enough with only 8ft. I would request the video to be normal speed throughout since it’s much easier to follow along and also keep the same angle, I got lost a couple times🫣. Other then that, so far I’m enjoying the tutorial!

I used 4mm cord and ran out so was only able to yield 4 diamonds from my inner cords and 6 diamonds from the outer portion. When I do it again, I'd add 2 more feet length to the original measurements. Does that make sense? I will say, it looks very good, even though it's slightly smaller :-)

I’m so sorry to hear that you ran out of cord! I’ve found it very tricky to purchase macrame cord, I have multiple rolls of cord in my stash labeled 4 mm that somehow end up being different sizes - if you decide to make any future tutorials, I always link the the exact macrame cord brand I use in my video description! 🙂

I made the same mistake, using 4mm cord I was only able to make 4 diamonds . Lesson learned

With a 5 mm cord I have to cut the same lenght? 🍂🍁🍂

I read online that if you want to go from 4mm to 5mm, you have to add 25% more string. It was a conversion chart.
