Great video. I flew, as in the pilot of a corporate BAC 1-11. It didn't have the hush kit when I first flew it, but it was installed a few years later on. Me, I never really noticed much of a difference in sound, slight difference in performance, It did make it legal, but!!!! Now it's all cut up. I love these older videos. Real airliners. Noise and smoke.
Nowadays, the loudness of one of these planes taking off on a regular basis would have been as unwelcome as an earthquake to residents living close to major airports like London's Gatwick. To hear a non-hush kitted BAC 1-11 or a VC10 taking off was extremely deafening. It's as if the sky was about to crack. Car alarms would go off all at the same time (that would be fun). I miss these old silver birds though. Today's aircraft are so boring to watch.
