  • You can get started playing R&B songs on guitar when you learn just 2 chords. Today's lesson is more of a beginner lesson. However, if you need a refresher on R&B chords, this is the perfect video for you. I cover 2 chords that will help you play most R&B songs, and I give a couple of examples of how to use them.
    My mission is to help you unlock the fretboard and play the guitar the way you've always desired to play!

      My 1st barred chords I used with this method was Fine China by Chris Brown. Very fun to play. 1st major 7th ever was Dmaj7 in the 2nd fret because it's the easiest chord ever to me

    I tell a major 7th chord as soon as I hear it on a record, cos it has that lovely dreamy quality about it. Takes you to another world. A world of peace and bliss. I love 70's funk, soul music. It was just magical.

    Nice instructional material. Your delivery of the material comes across, to me, as laid back,
    and aptly applicable to candid grooves.

      There are a several exercises you can do. One is to play every one across the fretboard on each string. Use a metronome. If you need more personalized help, join me at my weekly beginner's sessions in Kerry's Kamp.

    My question is are Major 7 an minor 7 cord bar cords? Do I strum all the cords down?

    • @danmccoy82
      @danmccoy82 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yes, all are bar chords you strum, however not all strings are used in every barchord shape when you strum. Example...on the first major 7 he shows (with root on the A string) you skip the low E and do not strike it at all, beginning the strum on the A string and on the second major 7 he shows (with root on the E string) you use your pointer finger to mute the A string and just strum through all 6 strings

    • @Kerry2smooth
      @Kerry2smooth  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yes. If root is on the 5th string, you don't play the 6th string. With the root on the 6th string, you skip a string for the Major 7. It takes a bit of practice to get it.
