Genuinely thought these would be under $100 when I saw them. At $1,500, they are taking the p. But, it is a free market, and some people may decide to buy them just because they can.
They are over priced at £1200, but so is the Speedmaster, Aqua Terra, Ingenieur, Submariner... Watch prices have gone crazy. Doesn't put me off the Speedmaster, AT... etc. Just won't be buying one... not at retail anyway.

Only certain models are in stainless steel, with the colorful cases being made of Arnite, a high performance plastic, hence why they needed to track down the original mold from the case manufacturer.

However, if you look at Tag's description of the series they explicitly state that they went out of their way to track down the original case manufacturer specifically for the mold If you look at listings on KITH, they have more options (unsurprisingly) and many of them state that the material is Arnite. Ironically, I think the plastic aspect is a selling point here because of the tracking of the mold and limited nature of the series- I believe they are overpriced for the movement, but it's actually kinda cool that they are keeping it original with modern durable polymers

It's reassuring to see other people say they have/had no idea what Kith is. Having never heard of Kith, I was very confused when I first saw these watches. After finding out what Kith is, I have realised I dress too well to have any reason to know of their existence.

I was 12 when the original Tag Heuer Formula One came out. I remember looking at in the shop window wanting one, but not able to afford it. Much like I feel now to hearing a Kith sweatshirt is >$800 (also hadn't heard of Kith and a few lanes away for me!). BUT I am tempted with one of these for the retro nostalgic element (which i never got from a MoonSwatch)...and rather one of these, than 2 sweatshirts!
My uncle, already in his 60s, has one and he is wearing it till this day as a fun watch. He claimed that it only cost him less than 250 dollars back then.

Hi Adrian, I still have and wear my original F1 (black strap with tritium markers and lum on the dial, it is very much "Trigger's broom", it's had a rough life, its last service brought it back to immaculate condition with an original strap. TH even returned the parts they replaced. Great service.

No, because there are less than 5000 and this isn’t a collaboration between a luxury watch brand and its parent company. Time will tell on whether TAG will now do more F1 collabs with other brands though.
All of us in our 40s remember when in the 90s we were day dreaming of having a TAG. My first "nice" watch was a TAG Heuer SEL chronograph with white dial which I got in 98 for $1300 on a MSRP of $1800. I absolutely loved that watch, but I sold it a year later to get my Submariner 16610 for the crazy price of $2800 lol

No, because there are less than 5000 and this isn’t a collaboration between a luxury watch brand and its parent company. Time will tell on whether TAG will now do more F1 collabs with other brands though.

All of us in our 40s remember when in the 90s we were day dreaming of having a TAG. My first "nice" watch was a TAG Heuer SEL chronograph with white dial which I got in 98 for $1300 on a MSRP of $1800. I absolutely loved that watch, but I sold it a year later to get my Submariner 16610 for the crazy price of $2800 lol
Definitely a Gen X’r watch. My first nice watch was a TAG Heuer 2000 auto I bought new in ‘04. I just wore it yesterday!
@@chriscon8463 Technically I'm a millenial (81) but I got started in watches very young! Yes I remember the F1, 1500, 2000, SEL (sport/elegance), and 6000 series, the kirium arrived a little later.

Bought an original Formula 1 in December 87 Cost me 79.99 as an 18 year old that was 15 percent of my monthly salary. Interesting to see the comparison now maybe. 1500 gbp seems steep but wow they make me feel nostalgic ❤
