Puerto Rico is an awesome place, but yes, it faces a lot of difficulties and challenges. Ive lived here for 5 years and have seen a lot of crazy things, but it is worth it. The people here are amazing and the island is beautiful. Good luck!

Hey guys, if God is driving forget everything else, up there in the mountains, like on the west coast people are totally different from the rest of the island, you guys made the right choice and yes your girls will live a more mellow life up there. Im from Fajardo and live in a little mountain and love it. Good luck on your garden..

Hey guys, your number one reason is the most positive and motivating one that will give you the energy to push forward during your journey in Puerto Rico. I left the island at the age of 18 years, back in 1984, and finally I will be retiring at the end of this month. I will return to PR in early December. I will also live in the mountains were is nice and beautiful. Reach out for advice.

HI, GUY'S wow you guys are like a fresh of breath air☺ we left Puerto Rico for a little bit to go on a journey back to US. We where in San Sebastian, before that we where in PR for 5yrs coming from Cali. So it's been a year away from our 🏝 island, I love San Sebastian, we are now looking to buy, miss it so much because Puerto Rico has taught me so much, it truly humbled me. Thank you!!! Your video has been very encouraging. We are moving there to live in the mountains and plant our own food since we strickly eat nutrient dense whole plant base foods. The only hitch is getting acustom to tropical life after growing up in the city. Best wishes and sending you much love.

Build small and humble so that you can live simple and stress free, wish we had did this when we move here! No regrets though! We are able to make payments for our daughters university because of our lifestyle! Our daughter had aopportunities to prepare her for studies in NY which is what she wanted! Bet she is wishing she should have stayed but she made this path and needs to follow through now. She had the most giving and amazing music teachers who poured all their knowledge and time into her! I pray your children can experience this! BTW we were homeschoolers!😍😍😍she went to escuelas Libre de musica, traveled many towns to give her more experience and one teacher prepared her to be accepted in the conservatory at 15 yrs old. I heard you say playing piano which is why I wrote this! Hope you find una escuela Libre de musica near you for your kids!🙏❤️ excellent ones, Humacao and Manati!! Where her teachers are at!😀

Welcome to PR! I was born here raised in NY (most of my life in Long Island). When I retired I moved to Camuy pueblo. Camuy is on the north coast very quiet and beautiful people very polite and warm. I live on a mountain on the north I have the sea on the south I have the country. I love it here, but like you mention customer service is not like in the states going to a doctor is even worse they over book and you end up waiting to see the doctor more than you should. PR is a lot cheaper housing and land. Most people are exempt from paying taxes on the house you live unless it’s an expensive house. Everywhere you go you’re going to find something you don’t like. Overall it’s a beautiful place to live.

I moved to PR 6 months ago and I was not able to adjust. My family and I moved back to Arizona. But my husband and I will definitely return once we retire.
But while we were there we attended an Amazing Chuch in Homacao called Amore Chuch. You can find them on Facebook and CZcams. Amore Church is still out home church although we are in AZ, bc we watch it online.
They have an English service @10 on Sundays and a Spanish @3pm.
Hope you guys can make it 🙌🏼 the leaders and pastors are extremely amazing people, very down to earth and always willing to help if you guys need anything 🙏🏼

I hv had that same yearning to move to the mountains since bout 2018. I wanted to move to Oregon or Washington though. I always wanted a tiny home. I love the minimalist lifestyle. That’s what I fear as well I don’t like bugs or dirt holds me back. I think it’s so important now a days more than ever to learn to be self sufficient. Being able to live off your land is so awesome. I think your wife should record more of just the process, it could be very insightful. Looking fwd to watching your journey. GOD bless

I was house hunting these past 3 weeks & stayed in palmas. I always said I never wanted to live in palmas but I learned so much & now thinking of having something in Palmas and a home/farm in mountain. The reason being is the schooling. I have no kids but need to think about that and palmas will be the only school I would want. Can’t forget breakfast by the tennis courts Volea. Omg I’m hungry now.

Please consider the quality of construction due to the hurricanes and now the constant earthquakes in the island. Do not go cheap and find a certified engineer. Better safe than sorry! It’s so funny we moved from NYC 17 years ago to the Poconos, Pennsylvania we knew no one here had no family here it was just us we had many uncertainties many hardships and we made it through it all. we moved because we wanted to raise our boys where they had more space a county setting and a good school district. We don’t regret it. They had a great up bringing many wonderful memories. My older Son is in his 3rd year at PSU full scholarship and my little guy is graduating this year. My husband retires in 5 months NOW... we are moving again full of uncertainty and fear as yourselves but we know GOD will guide us every step of the way.

Hi, guys! Keep praying for directions because God will guide you. The enemy will try to put some stones on the way but God will help you get through it. Now that you start to see that some thins are slower in PR and this is for our experience, try not to compare everything with USA because the enemy will use it to discourage you! Keep your faces looking to the sky knowing that God is with you because your doing what you supposed to. Leaving the cities to go to the country. The bugs, the disorder, the humidity, the heat. I can see you are exhausted. It took 5 years but I did find my sanctuary away from it all on the 13th floor of a high rise BUT we are looking for land now. It took me that long because I’m not an American citizen. If you ever need a place to stay a few nights in San Juan let us know. We have two spare bedrooms. Happy to host you.

Puerto is beautiful, my husband and I were born there, and go every year. We first stay in Rincon and then we stay in San Juan. I’m with you I hate bugs n dirt. Question? How do you find the medical situation there and are you close by your church? Kudos to you both Boricuas. I wish you the utmost best.

We did the same. We move from Florida after living 21 years. We needed to make a change and we also have a land here in the island. We have been living here for a year and half. I love the mountain :) We plant plantain; ginger; tumeric and much more. The kids love it plus they are learning. Good Luck! Where is you land located?

Stay in Palmas, kids have access to great school and things to do. Your home up in the jungle can be your second home with an amazing view. Also on CZcams JenThereDoneThat and Fstoppers are both located on Palmas. They have great CZcams channels FYI

I've been living in Puerto Rico for one year my lease is about to be up soon January 1st. I am a young black guy a little older than you. You can find a apartment for about $400 $475 $500 $600 some things may be included some things may not be included. But me personally I think the food prices a little more expensive because it has to be imported. So if you were to go grocery shopping try to shop at places like Walmart CVS. For example a gallon of milk here cost about $5. That is to give you some insight. But after that I think living wise far as rent you will be pretty good with that.

@@Tsentasu yes right now I am a college student for my income I receive a $1,200 stipend a month from the federal government I will receive debt for the next 2 years. I am from Washington DC I got that through a federal agent in Washington DC it was only for DC residents. But the problem I had was the apartment that I looked at was in mayaguez there is no train station on Metro that runs from San Juan to mayaguez. To drive from San Juan to mayaguez is 3 hours and 30 minutes that is if you take no toll roads. But if you take a toll roll it would take you 2 hours and 30 minutes. And that partment was $450 everything was included. And from the way the pictures look it was very pretty. My lease is up January 1st. I think we're kind of messed me up was I came to Puerto Rico a month before the covid-19 outbreak. So thanks load up for me. And where I currently live my rent is $350

How u guys did it for ur girls school? I recently moved to PR and school is a challenge because my kids don't know spanish and public schools don't have much resources.
We have been homeschooling for a while so we just kept it that way
I have thought of moving to Puerto Rico. The only reason I don’t consider it seriously enough is because of the quality of education fin PR. My kids education is important to me and I know that the quality of education in PR is not good. Also, I don’t like homeschooling. So I need my kids to have good schools before I even consider moving.
I understand. PR has some good private schools as well.
We own properties throughout the island and have a gated property in lajas and Issabella for sale- both excellent neighborhoods with upper class school districts ( by island standards)

@@thelostrican6296 Isabella is right off of the highway and in a private gated community while Lagas is on a traditional middle class block and has a double lot for a back yard
None of these properties are actively being sold- they are available but no real estate agents or listings- I believe lajas has Uncle that is squatting there because the house is nicer and larger
The property in Isabella has private security and an HOA- We actively looking to sell that one in 2020 - Going to be making a video for the house when I go back out in Christmas

Puerto Rico lacks community but most communities lack currency. All the cost of living is greater then the salary. But Puerto Rico has a great cost of living but I can lower it.

Why don't you make a small house with madera with just two bedroom and small bathroom on your land for now That's how I did it you will save more money that way instead of renting.
