Sea Pool Swimming at Dancing Ledge: Jurassic Coast Walking Tour, Dorset with BiTW & Valley Camper NR

- We were hapless tour guides for this walk and wild swim. We had such a laugh with the awesome Gez from Boyz in The Wood channel and Nick from Valley Camper NR. They were the absolute best, great lads with a massive passion for the outdoors, go have a peek at their channels if you get a minute, links at the bottom of this description.
We started at a free carpark...of course.... in a small carpark at the top end of Acton village (BH19 3JY) from here we walked down, through the village and followed the lovely Priest's Way Path towards Keates Quarries to look at the National Trust's Spyway Dinosaur Footprints. We showed the lads the well preserved, 140 million year old sauropod's footprints.
From here we walked up to Spyway barn, a smugglers hideout, before walking down to the sea and the popular Dancing Ledge. The quarried ledge is used for many leisure activities such as tombstoning, rock climbing and fishing, but even better than that, a swimming pool has been blasted into the limestone, every high tide it gets refreshed with sea water, pretty awesome! We all went into the sea pool for a nice little swim.
Once we had dried off we started walking West along the Jurassic Coast to show them the quarried caves, and the dramatic Winspit Quarry, used for a backdrop in Starwars.
Really cracking day in a beautiful place, can not wait to meet up with these two again, hearts of gold.

Hey Martin, Micelle, they was a few awkward embraces and near tumbles, that drop must be about 5foot! we also witnessed a couple of people come a cropper too, so yea wise to turn around if your not feeling up for it, I opted for the lower myself and drop approach, Gez played hero to Kat 🤗🥰👏 was great to get back and have a wee dip, catch you soon, Ceri and Kat ☕❤😁👍🥰💖

One thing I wish I'd done when living in Finland, was go swimming in the lakes... However when I lived there, temps were -2 to - 7 some days. Maybe next time I go, must go in the summer.

@@TeaInValhalla yeah, it was pretty cold. We took up walking as the brakes and suspension on our bikes started freezing up 🙈 wasn't good lol. Hmm, there's some rivers, your not allowed to swim in reservoirs up here. Apparently there is an outdoor pool at a place called Tynemouth, but in not sure if it's been renovated 🤔 it's filled with water from the sea. Other than the lakes and there's a couple of spots in Yorkshire too... I'll have to dig the names out 🤔

Well done on hitting 800 subs and never seen dino prints before myself. The cows seemed friendly down there, not bothered at all and I remember that school swimming pool form a video a while back and loved the 'Silly Salmon' LOL! It did look great fun mind and well done on you all for going in. I assume the caves are man made and are really impressive inside, as was the coastal path there. Great to see you got good weather, not be many of them for the rest of the year with Autumn well on the way Up North. The blue benches are out, perfect place to stop of a brew and sandwich. yes all the caves are a result of the quarrying, the flat areas are where the loaded the ships, a lot of the stone was used in London. It was a great day and lovely to meet the guys after months of chatting here in the comments, felt like we had known each other for ages. Such a great collaboration! You were great tour guides on this one! The Dancing Ledge was spectacular! The pool looked wonderfully refreshing, and loved the footage; the reflections, action shots, underwater, waves, etc. Really excellent! The caves at the ledge were awesome, and the ledge itself so cool. Hiking along the coast looks so pleasant. What a fun video!

@@TeaInValhalla Ahh we ended up not going this weekend after all. My 18 year old gave me her pink eye and JByrd hurt his foot sooo its a no-go for AT hiking. BTW the weather is perfect of course for backpacking out there. But hey you can't win them all.
Lovely little collaboration, and you guys make excellent tour guides. Nice to see some folk walking by cows in your area without that look of fear in their eyes. Love getting a good swim in on a hike. Takes a 10 all the way up to an 11 doesn't it? Was hoping we'd get an underwater shot or 2, and we were not to be disappointed! Loved how Kat was out trying to out-fact the other lads, and Cerri's just off on his own talking about the quarry business. That was some lovely coast walking there, certainly worth re-visiting, and we saw a couple things this time that weren't there in the last video.
Seagulls are total jerks, this is known. We were out on the seacoast a couple years back and Aria was enjoying some cheese puffs with her lunch when this Seagull hopped down on the table right in front of her. She thought it was the coolest thing until it mugged her and made off with some of her snack. Not a thing we could do, they're quick.
I keep meaning to go have a look at Boys in the Wood. Been hearing the name dropped multiple times over the last couple of weeks, but we've got to get through the regulars first before we add another to the list, and I'm quite afraid they'll end up being on the regular watch list as well, just from reputation. At least now we don't know what we're missing yet.
