Great work. Thanks so much for posting these helpful videos. In lick 7 the 3,4,5 3,4,5 bit is reminiscent of a Django lick I use in Beaumont Rag 8,9,10 8,9,10.....etc, across the strings. I got it from Jack Lawrence.

How did people learn anything up in those mountains without being able to rewind a video lesson 100 times.

Good stuff dude. I'm a new subscriber, and you may have already addressed this in another video that I just haven't seen yet, but it would be great if you could make a video of some ways to play licks for the chord changes over the classic 1-4-5 bluegrass progression. So like, if in the key of G, you could show some licks focus on G for the first part of the lick and then as the chord progression goes to the C, the lick transforms into a lick for the C chord, etc. I'm an electric blues player mostly and have just gotten into bluegrass flatpicking (I find the challenge of playing really fast parts on the acoustic to be so much fun, but also a lot more difficult to play cleanly than on electric), so I find myself always kind of playing one standalone lick for the G chord, then one standalone lick for C, but I would like to get to a point where my licks can flow in and out of each chord change instead of sorta being choppy like they are now. I haven't seen a really good video on how to tackle the 1-4-5 bluegrass progression in that way, and maybe you can help me out there. Anyway, I'm glad I found your channel, you have some great content. Keep it up!

Hey there, good question. You might try my video "Bluegrass Improv Exercises" it's kind of an anti-lick approach to improvising bluegrass lines!

More fab vocabulary, thank you Marcel! Only recently delving into Bluegrass & discovered your excellent channel. Your playing is sweet as & your teaching makes everything super easy to understand, - except why you wear a hat in some of your other videos when you have such annoyingly magnificent hair.

It will take some time to play these fast I first learn the notes and then keep chipping away at the speed I’m new to this so hopefully I can bring it up to speed
