Xscape Talks New Bravo Show Featuring SWV & Reflects On Hits Like "Who Can I Run To?"

- The ladies of Xscape have solidified their legacy in R&B and Soul music but there is still much more that we can expect from Tameka “Tiny” Harris, LaTocha Scott, Kandi Burrus, and Tamika Scott.
Ahead of their upcoming performance at Ontario’s Toyota Arena, the iconic group stopped by the 935 KDAY studios to chop it up with Romeo of the KDAY Morning Show about their long-standing career as a group and how they continue to expand their fanbase with new opportunities. As the group recently had their own Verzuz battle, which saw them going up against the incomparable SWV, the ladies of Xscape speak on their experience with Verzuz and share a few details about their forthcoming show which captures their collaborative work with the leading ladies of SWV.
With undeniable and notable hits like “Who Can I Run To,” the group reflects back on how some of their biggest hits have come together and how they continue to reinvent themselves through style and inspiring their fans and up-and-coming artists.

The industry and labels took advantage of them and so many artists who, OUT THE GATE, were poppin'! The labels really robbed them in the 1st 10 years of their MULTI-MILLION album sales. Xscape made those labels so much money and didn't see a dime! I'm glad my favorite group has been back and successful for this long!

You know what I love is that when it comes to these ladies, like or girl groups for other lol okay just say groups sometimes you like the group sometimes you may like particular people and that makes you like the group maybe vice versa or maybe none for me I love escape and always have and the ladies but just never really got a chance to know them individually kandy when she first came out to housewives, Tasha yes her sister not too much about I think she was more private I remember seeing something with a wedding of her daughter I believe and remembered knowing tiny little bit more from no Scrubs and stuff I never really paid her attention with ti I was a fan of hers not her husband I like him but I'm not a fan it's too different things and it's not because of him I just his music never reach me and when it has I loved it but earlier actually today I was watching some videos of escape from the verses and that song do you want to when tiny was singing it and that black cat suit live and I think I forgot his name to DJ that is always with candy the track went a little fast so tiny had to sing a little bit faster or something so you can tell that she was really really singing but even when she said a little bit it was so cute like she really sang so beautifully even a simplicity it reminds me of those voices of the 90s like from Black I know I spelled it wrong I voice typing but they had that song there you Are looking ass fine ass can be and that fancy car....,. I got to know Tasha's sister I think her name is Tamika I know it it's just early in the morning where I'm at but during the pandemic when she was doing those videos like from my house and her kids are beautiful the foyer and her home is beautiful she's always in a pump I never got to try a seasoning Jack but I can tell she can cook and she's always has a glow and glitter in her eyes make no mistake and this is not a perspective these girls are royalty and the blink and glow in your eyes is so relatable that you really can see them in your local supermarket in terms of being relatable these are ladies , woman yes but some words are just oversaturated these are ladies with a z oh and then just not too long ago finding out what Carlos king tried as is supposed to relate to the scandal with their life story trying to be sold to a network and Kandy just happened to find out but only just happened to happen to have a conversation but in all that she never even vented to the public about the issue if that's not a lady hunny. Which are hits .702 has mixture of both which are hits too . & I feel like 702 never gets the shine they deserve. Xscape will always be everything to me. Ms. LaTocha Scott...whew! That girl can blow. She don't play. Whenever she reach at that microphone, you already know it's gon be bomb and she gon make it do what it do. All of these ladies can blow, but Ms. LaTocha ended up being my favorite and "The Voice" of Xscape. I gotta give props to Ms. Kandi Burruss for not letting herself fall off of the radar. She saw that music wasn't working out anymore so she put her thinking cap on, found other platforms to make money on and here she is today. Just sitting pretty w/o a care in the world. That's how you do it. She didn't sit around waiting on the music industry. She saw that reality tv was gon be the norm and she got on board. She signed up for reality tv back when it was taboo. She signed up for reality tv back when folks were saying that only "simple-minded people" watch pictures like that. Nah, here we are in 2022 and it's the norm. Reality tv for artists of my generation is the new record contract. But yeah man... Shout out to Ms. Kandi for not letting herself fall off of the radar. Same goes for Mrs. Tameka Harris. She didn't let herself fall off of the radar. "Why you doin' reality tv? That's gon ruin yo' image" and yadda, yadda, yadda. Nonsense! Reality tv ended up being the new form of music. Nobody's checking for new music from '90s artists anymore (for the most part). Fans of my generation are watching reality tv, podcasts, etcetera. New music is the last thing on our minds. I know that artists don't wanna hear that, but it's indeed the truth.
You can really see that toscha is a lot older than them. Not in looks but she looks like she doesn't have fun with them. I also think kandi is not being truthful about not caring what people think. That's the whole purpose of her speak on it to give rebuttal of opinions of her.

From the outside looking in, watching their earliest performances and interviews. Tocha and Kandi actually had a connection. Tocha was always saying "sing Kandi" "what you tell em Kandi?" Kandi was happy being the face of Xscape when the first came out, though it was disrespectful of Jermaine not to establish roles. Tocha started and Tamika started the group. With Tocha being the oldest she came up with the group name and made very important decisions to get them started as a group. Jermaine should have established their respect of roles in the group. Kandi got too comfortable being in the front, that when it was time to move to the back she didn't like it. I imagine how tough it was for Tocha being push to the back and taking the most criticism out of the group, and not getting the credit she deserve for Xscape being Xscape. She stood behind Kandi taking the lead for the first two album, but it seems like when it was her turn to take the lead on the third album it was a problem. I think Tocha is being very professional considering the disrespect she got over the years. They are all handling it the best way they can. All these ladies are beautiful. I pray one day they can genuinely apologize for the hurt they cause each other, heal and move forward.
Kandi got blamed for the group breaking up when in fact they third group album was about to be a set up for Latocha to go solo. And Tamika lied on Kandi to make her sister look good.

@@teannaworld8102 no, Kandi was not blamed for the group breaking up. Tamika spoke up after all those years of Kandi blaming the break up on Tocha. Even if Tocha wanted to go solo, Kandi would have been fine with it as long as she was the one the sung the lead on the third album. She had a problem with it because the producers wanted Tocha to sing more. Kandi love being the center of attention in all things she is involved in, and everyone around her has a problem with holding her accountable. Tamika admitted that Tocha wasn't the reason why the group broke up. She basically said Kandi play a role in the group breaking up. After seeing real housewives I totally believe she played a role in the break up. If that's how she acts at her age now, imagine how she was in her teens and twenties.
Kandi was not the lead singer on the 1st two albums. They alternated quite a lot with who was singing what, but if there was a lead singer then it was Tocha
@@channel_wavy she did sing lead on most of their songs in the first and second Album. They alternated lead vocals on a track or two, but majority of the songs on the first two albums, Kandi did sing lead. I agree that Tocha was the lead singer. Tocha had to come to Jermaine and remind him that she was the lead because most of the songs he wrote was fit for kandis voice. It seem like it had a lot to do with their relationship as well.
Well, no matter what they broke up about,,Tamika made a public apology (on stage) to Kandi! It was beautiful and emotional.

My 13yr old made me do a double take when I heard her singing one of xscape songs. They are back without new music 🎶
The problem was that Latosha was the oldest ,she was a senior in high school,Kandy and Tamika were freshman's and they met Tiny after the other friend Tan left the group and Latosha felt she should be able to run the group,but Kandi was just had vocal about the group and LaTosha not telling her what to do, Latosha has made some bad moves on the younger girls , because she always felt she should of been the lead singer,forgetting that they were a group of four who all could lead a song that's what made them special,because their is no other female groups were every singer could lead.

I would like to mention for those who don't know Xscape was not the original authors of the song "Who Can I Run To " they sampled the original authors of the song were the AMAZING JONES GIRLS in 1979. Xscape version was nice but not even close to The Jones Girls .

there is a lot of drama in the group. She specific said not with swv but with her own band members and she mentioned that tiny is always the mediator in the group. Tocha and Kandi are the most opinionated people in the group and always argue since they are young Kids.
In my opinion, both of them never healed from things that happen in the past, that's the reason why they argue so much.

Thats not correct they love each other even when they argue a lot kandi always mention the love that she have for them, she can not compare it to anyone else because they grew up together.
