Well done lads, just goes to show that you don’t need a billion dollar budget , just some innovative thinking and the willingness to push the design barriers and not be scared to experiment!
Just keep spinning those cranks gentlemen and soon the Tour of Bermuda will be yours!

I really very like how brave Team New Zealand is and was the last decades. I very like them. I was only on the «opposite side», when the Swiss team raced against them...
The pedals drive hydraulic pumps. The power from the hydraulic pumps is used to turn the sail, raise and lower dagger boards, etc. Everything that's done on a normal sailing boat by pulling on ropes is done here with pedal->hydraulic power.
The pedals system recharged hydraulic pressure much quicker than the traditional method which allows etnz to carry only 2 hydraulic oil tanks instead of 3 like all others. Which means a lighter boat, easier to fly .
".... the power that can be used to generate hydraulic fluid pressure - energy which drives many of the control systems on board. This should result in better foiling tacks and gybes during racing."
I think this sort of innovation will keep the cup interesting, given that they continue to simplify the rules and change the format so that races fit between TV commercial breaks. I am really really happy that there are no longer diesel engines providing hydraulic power like in the days of Allinghi vs. USA-17, and I think NZ deserves the cup if they can take advantage of the extra watts they (may) get by using bigger muscle groups.
Bloody Brilliant boys! Bring back that cup back!!!!

Saw this up close today and it nearly brought a tear to the eye.

The swiss team were the kiwi team so you liked em lol
The Kiwis are more or less present in any team, isn't it?
love it boys ... Awesome job ... can't wait for race one.
My boat.
Got to touch her before she went to Bermuda.
The best day ever. Thanks Dan.
Then why are they upright? recumbent position is way more efficient !
The recumbent position will not be efficient if they tack and have to change hulls easily and Quickly
Congratulation!!!!
Why did they make the decision to ban them in AC36, then? This team won the cup with cyclors, but then bans them the next circuit? Weird.
Amazing!
amazing
Can someone tell me what the pedals are meant to do

New innovations on this boat? Not once was there any explanation of what this is about.
horrible audio. Way too much background music.
Theres always a whinger on these isn't there?, put it away buddy, stop being miserable
Am I the only one who would rather lose grinding my ass off than win the mug by riding a bike on the most advanced sailing craft of all time?
YES
Yes you are.

I totally respect the decision though. And especially impressed the way the crew has owned it. I can't give any style points but you have my respect.
