Lord Jesus, please hear my prayer as I lay in my hospital bed alone and scared. I am at your mercy lord please forgive my sins and my ignorance. Lord Jesus why have I seen so much suffering and loss, unimaginable pain and misery. I knew in my heart that you wouldn't forsake those that seek your word and live life pure. Please heal me lord. I ask this in the glorious name of Jesus, Amen.

God delivered me from depression when I repented of my sins, received Jesus Christ as My Savior. At church they laid hands on me and that spirit of depression left and has never come back.

My school always played this song in assembly since Year Two. Now Im in Year Six and I finally found the true meaning of this song. Although we may feel wrongful for our sins and may want to punish ourselves, God believes that we are all of heart, somewhere in us, and that we may succeed in living our mission: to worship thou Holy One. That we may strive to do better. That we may, eventually when the time has come, see Jesus standing at the right hand in the kingdom of heaven. As a Catholic who regularly serves mass as an altar server, this song is always one of my favourites to listen to when feeling down, you know? Sorry if I was a bit rushed typing this out and made some spelling errors here and there 😅 Ill try better next time =D

OMG, how this grabs me every time!!! We sang this Taize in my Episcopal Church this morning. It was the third time we had done it during my past four years there. It's a good thing that I arrive early and give the entire program (or, as some people call it, a "bulletin") a look-through so I know exactly what we're doing and singing for the service. Otherwise, if this Taize would have caught me off guard, our church would have had to have built an Ark this morning so that nobody would have drowned in my flood of tears.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Tonight (February 18), we begin 3 weeks of Lent services at my church. The 4th & 5th will be at my sister church. We will begin our services with this hymn. It is #751 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

Advent Taize
Played this last night in our wind band as part of our memorial service in remembrance of world war 1 since it’s the 100th anniversary of course. Absolutely surreal environment, tune has a slightly haunting tone to it that hints at the reality of the war and horrible events we’re remembering and how many of the victims wished the lord to hear their prayers. During my break on the trombone during this tune, I glanced up to see a man in military uniform weeping, hiding his head down but his posture still straight and and his uniform perfectly spotless. Such a moving experience, almost brought me to tears too.

This is the most beautiful, and saddest of all hymns; it is so haunting an plaintive - what if there is nothing there but the void - what if it is a cry into the darkness....?
We may be in darkness, but God is Light and provides it to whoever asks for him. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
what if there is nothing but the void? Go to the beginning of the Bible, and it says just that - "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep" - and " God said, "Let light shine out of darkness," and he made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God'.
We 'know' there is more than the void - we can see that there is with all our senses - God gave us this knowledge, but left it up to each of us to choose.
Please don't cry alone. Find a good friend or pastoral carer accompany you.

***** thanks for that. Unfortunately too many Christians pray to God to get their wishes fulfilled or to get the miracle they want instead of making them the miracle God wants us to be. It is the one thing we learn from Christ, that to pray is not to have our wishes fulfilled but to pray for help that we may fulfil his wish. Once you understand that, you pray to God not to get reality changed but to make you change reality.
***** If you pray for your wishes to come true you still play the lottery. It was when my sister was in hospital with a head injury and I wondered what it meant to ask to let that cup go by. Did I want her not to die or not to be a burden to me or to have a miraculous healing.. I suddenly realised that I had no right to ask for either of those but to ask God do give me the strength to cope with whatever happened. I was lucky that she is almost as good as before and independent, but what I got from those prayers was the strength to be there for her and to help her to heal as to project hope that whatever would happen we would find a way. After all, that is what healing is about, to regain the hope for the future. If you loose a limb there is no point to asking God to grow you a new one as asked by materialists as in "why doesn't God heal amputees". Look at Martine Wright or Nick Vujicic who have no legs. Pray for being given wings and you might start to see that there are angels all around you to help.
