- Devo perform "That's Good" on episode 9 of the TV show Square Pegs (Muffy's Bat Mitzvah, aired November 29, 1982). Starring a young Sarah Jessica Parker, the show aired for one season on CBS during the 1982-1983 season.
In 1982, I once came across a dollar bill that had all the letters in "Federal Reserve Note" blacked out except for D, E, V and O.

All costumes and visual gimmicks aside, DEVO could seriously rock.
I remember being 11 years old, watching this, and shocked that this esoteric group would perform on a pretty mainstream adolescent sitcom.
But I'm glad they did.
That's the first time I've seen people dancing on a tv show, like we actually did in the clubs.
Carlton Banks got his famous dance moves from the kids back in the early 80s.
Don't judge Devo until you see them live.even haters will love them live.they put on one of the best live shows ever!!!

I saw them live about 20 years ago. They were 50 something and kicked ass and they were one of the best live bands I ever saw.
I remember that the day after this aired, my best friend kept singing this and he would hold up his history book like Devo with the "crack" sound, and sing "everybody wants good thing, everybody wants a monumental good thing..."

@@hifivaliant8937 Fully agree. Lots of people are too easily led by bad reviews that mostly come from journos who either have a dubious taste in music or write to get the pay. Sadly at the time reviews actually meant something so Devo got hurt badly at the crucial point of their carrier. Unforgiveable! But then again, the press was always sniffy about them :(
Been listening to them all my life since the 70s and put Oh No at #4 or 5 in my list. I loved their early stuff.

I remember watching this in 9th grade when it first came out.
Energy dome off to DEVO that they even squeezed in some bits of the french fry and donut along with the unhappy woman, and 3:52 was a nice touch with the suit and hair.
Familiar faces for us old-timers:
Dena Dietrich and Merritt Buttrick (1:00), Mother Nature hanging out with Captain Kirk's son. Later interrupted at 2:06 by Marj Dusay, who didn't get away with stealing Spock's brain some years earlier. And the gent doing the introduction, William Bogert, well, you'll see him some years later interviewing Clayton Bigsby.

I saw this back then....as this masterpiece aired... i was about 16.
In 1982 we didn’t question grandma hitting on high school freshmen boys.

years ago some on demand channel or another put all of the Square Peg Eps. on for viewing. I got them all. I had to. It was just one of those one of kind shows. I knew it wouldn't last, but I got SJP in her bloom. RIP Johnny Slash....,

The actor portraying Buffy's father also played Molly's father on Facts of Life. The mother was portrayed by Marj Dusay who was recurring as Blair's mother on Facts of Life on and off from 1981-1988 Jamie Gertz who played Buffy was on Facts of Life in the 1983-1984 season as a recurring similar character, Boots.

Haha, I felt the same way whenever I looked at pictures of teenagers from before my time. It’s because they’re wearing clothes and hairstyles that are dated to you so it makes them look older. If you had been alive at that time they would look young. Just like in 30 years people are going to look at teenagers today and think they look old! 😀
