Why Starfield Is THE MOST ADDICTIVE GAME I Have Played In Years

- Bethesda’s hotly anticipated space exploration epic has finally launched, and whilst there are teething problems in the game’s first dozen or so hours once you’ve gotten to grips with Starfield’s gameplay loop the experience becomes very addictive indeed.
It’s the side-quests that steal the show here, showcasing the breadth of Bethesda’s scope and ambition there’s simply a universe’s worth of side content - each proposing a moral quandary - that add to the tangibility of Starfield’s already exquisitely designed planets.
Joining factions is the way to go, and there’s heaps to become engrained in - space pirates, peace envoys, scavengers, to name a few - populate worlds rich in biodiversity. You’ll be hard pressed not to be distracted by something, anything, in the deep reaches of outer space. - Hry
It's crazy how many people will lie and mislead their audience just so they can sniff Todd's farts.
Its not goty, and alot of critiques are valid, but man is it addictive.
You can dump hundreds of hours in this game. Im just over 50hrs and barely scratched the surface, so good

This is one of the biggest things I’ve noticed so far playing this game; is that I’m having a hard time wanting to get off it, or play any other game. This gameplay they integrated into here; ESPECIALLY the ship combat is extremely addicting.
I was actually dreading ship combat, as I’ve never done it. But wow, is it ever fun!
I love the ship combat! I just finally started boarding enemy ships last night...my dude! The captain alone had 25k credit on her person! So lucrative!
How do you guys even get good at ship combat? I hate it, you can’t evade or is very hard to evade ship damage when the is more than one ship in battle. Also ship construction is a mess, the game never explains why some ships can have only 2 weapons (and can’t add more) and some of them 3. This probably gets more deal able as you level up your ship skills, but there is so much you can level up im this game I don’t even know when i will start leveling up ship skills (this actually is cool).
@@ageup7493 it takes a good few hours to get used to and get a rhythm going; just stick with it bro trust me. As for evading ships, I put my boost on and fly the complete opposite direction and double back on enemy ships while taking fire.
@@ageup7493 can you use thrusters, yet? If so, a good tactic is to target one of them, then boost away from the enemies. They will pursue. Once you are 3-4k away, use thrusters to spin your ship around, continue flying in reverse, and fire on the ships as they chase you. (Thrusters are RB on Xbox. To spin your ship, hold RB and use the right thumb stick to turn yourself. Keep holding thrusters and you will continue in that same straight line, only backwards.)
I have to agree with this assessment. I'm about 70 hours in and have only finished two of the three main missions you get after the first trip to the farm.
Janky as it is, and as glaring as the many mixing qol issues there are, i am having a blast. I spent a half hour on a guided tour of Titan yesterday and loved every minute of it.
Lol I did the guided tour as well, and I was charmed enough to give him extra credits. Sarah liked it and Bill’s good in my book.
@RobTheDoodler i tipped him extra, too lol Had Sam with me at the time
200hrs in and I’ve only unlocked 1 power, and spent most of my time bsing in the 3 main cities… It’s also a FAR more in depth game than most reviewers gave it.. They ALL somehow had COMPLETE reviews in 2 weeks when they should’ve honestly been “so far”.. This games HIGH levels of depth that most “instant gratification” seeking gamers will miss me..
It's one of those games if you blast through the main story in a week or two, you just missed most of the game and played the least enjoyable way possible.
Bethesda said that this game had callbacks to Daggerfall and Oblivion and I understand that because there is proc gen and some of the best side and faction quests I've ever seen in a game, just like Oblivion. But personally I think this game is most like Morrowind in the sense of discovery, initially difficulty curve, and its RPG systems. Your starting character is weak and locked out of many game mechanics since there are like 300+ skill points to invest. Unlike Skyrim you can't swap to whatever playstyle you want midgame and expect to be competent at it in the beginning. Stealth in particular is almost impossible in Starfield's early game. And then when it comes to navigation, cities have signs and kiosks to guide you instead of a useful game map. This reminds me of Morrowind where NPCs gave you verbal descriptions of where to travel. I think Bethesda's objective here was to have people explore the cities the same way they explored Skyrim's game world, just running somewhere to see what you can find and then getting lost. This works best on Akila City and Neon IMO, New Atlantis is a bit less interesting. Seeing the sheer alien-ness of some of the planets and their lifeforms reminds me of Morrowind as well.
Shouldn't need to be 500 hours into a game for it to get good
@@anthonyfernandez82 Well I’m not, I’m 200 in and it’s already REALLY good, so good I don’t actually even search for the MAIN things cause the side stuff keeps me happy and occupied..

I just don’t get it.
Everyone in comments here say it’s addicting. Your experience is positive too.
But there is so much hatred for this game.
people say - “It’s wide as an ocean deep as puddle”. Many people feel it’s same old Bethesda and they have not evolved etc.
Now who is right? What is going on?
the amount of hours I've put in this game while just completing a few story missions is insane. its become a comfort game for me lol
Just wish it didn't have a woke feel to it....would like a mature answer gritty game.
100 hours in and I’m still loving it
There is a strange phenomena with this game every time I start playing it I’m like “why do I love this game again” then 5 hours in I have to tell myself to go to bed because I have to be at work in 3 hours
Because it just works.
Starfield is addictive. The gameplay on the surface seems repetitive but it’s still very enjoyable. Collecting upgrading getting better weapons, ships

I am testing a summary bot. I would greatly appreciate if any feedback on how well it works.
Here are the summaries for this video:
1. Bethesda's highly anticipated space exploration game, Starfield, has finally been released.
2. The game offers an immense interstellar playground with thousands of explorable planets, beautiful vistas, and intriguing narrative threads.
3. The game requires patience as the initial hours can be dull due to complex inventory systems and unreadable maps.
4. The real fun begins after investing 12-15 hours when the player gains useful abilities and power-ups.
5. The side quests are the highlight of the game and offer a vast array of moral quandaries.
6. Joining factions is the way to go, and there are many to choose from, such as space pirates, peace envoys, and scavengers.
7. The game offers a sense of discovery and exploration, with the universe being full of biodiversity and intrigue.
8. The game's music is masterful and adds to the vastness and scale of space.
9. The game's maps can be difficult to navigate, but this adds to the sense of discovery.
Them glaring eyes, they just work!
Starfield allows you to do so much for an RPG, I really just don't get how people play this game and get bored. Even something as simple as coming out of your spaceship for the first time on a brand new planet, with new gear you just bought/found is just flat-out cool and entertaining. Looking up at the stars, and seeing ships fly off in the distance, or watching weird aliens in their natural habitat sleep and attack other alien animals is mesmerizing at times. I watched a herd of 30 dinosaur-like aliens running along the plains of a moon at night, while the stars glimmered above. So much of this game oozes originality, there really has been nothing like it. Idk to me, It feels like a lot of gamers have lost their sense of wonder when playing games, and can't appreciate them how we all did when we were kids.
Beautifully stated. I'm old myself and I still can appreciate the wonder I did in my earliest gaming days.
Couldn't agree with this statement anymore.
Yup! Everyone just sounds so jaded all the time. Like...who hurt you bro?
Your choices mean nothing there is hardly any depth most of the planets are completely pointless along with most of the "choices" your given as per any Betheseda RPG, More generic skyrim bandits branded as space pirates, the NPC's are still the same brain dead crap since the beginning, you cant actually land and take off from planets. Its a piss poor title for 2023 and im not looking forward to anymore future entries if this is as good as it gets, Star Citizen is a better, and a REAL space game.
@@amartinez97depth, choices? You mustve not played the game. Their are choices to handle each mission. I just made a massive decision that i may be wrong that will affect the end game. Roleplaying in the game is great, i havent found a game that allows roleplay like bgs games do. Choice doesnt = roleplay either. There are games with more choice during quests but you cant roleplay as whatever you want
60 hours in and I can't stop playing !

Loving Starfield. I find myself sitting down to play, and playing for hours. I also find myself warping to a planet’s orbit and hoping someone’s waiting to try me in a space battle. Space combat was the big surprise for me, I truly enjoy it. The game is satisfying, addictive and fun. Sure, the NPCs glitch randomly sometimes, and navigating space and city maps is a little (ok, a lot) frustrating. But exploring and adventure is the name of the game. And I FINALLY memorized the location of the gun dealer in New Atlantis. I think.
Everyone should do the Ryujin questline if they haven't already.
I brought my XBox Series X 9/5/23! Just for this game! The shit was the best purchase I made! Starfield is incredible!
The game is good, and i mean really, really good..Currently grinding through new game plus until NG 10 and then i will do the side quests i only have one problem with the game a big problem and that is that most of the POI's on planets are just a copy & paste i have been running through the same cryo lab like 20 times..i hope they will improve this and add procedural layouts then in my opinion the game will live for years on other than that 10/10

So glad this game came along was so tired of waiting for Star Citizen to do something and Elite Dangerous was nothing but a boring grind fest and No Mans Sky just way to cartoony arcade graphics for me and x4 just could not get into and Eve Online is a griefers paradise and just was not fun anymore and I can keep going but you get the picture. Starfield is exactly what I needed and wanted in my gaming life and I am having a BLAST! o7 😎👍
I have 50hrs, and only did ''The Old Neighborhood''! And in the middle of Vanguard quest about the Xeno aliens. That's the only faction I've found so far. I have only seen 2 major cities, Atlantis and Cydonia. I have done no side quests and have missions, activities etc all piling up. I've done next to nothing in 50hrs! That's how big this game is.
Just think, If you only visited planets and skipped over all quests, the game would take months! If you just landed on each of the 1,000 planets, and only in one spot and explored for just 30min. It would add up to 500hrs to visit all 1,000!!! 500hr game without even seeing the whole planet, landing only once and skipping all questlines!!!

I think a lot of them are Sony fans ''pretending'' they played it. They bitch cause you can't manually fly all the way to the planets surface. So what? That's just useless time that doesn't benefit the player in any way. They should play No Man's Sky then.
Then they claim walls stop you from exploring. One guy said, ''you can only land in four places on a planet. When you do, you walk for 2min and hit a wall, no room to explore.''
I busted this guy big time and exposed him as a liar! You can land ANYWHERE, and you have a HUGE given area to explore. He tried to claim you can't hardly walk in any direction, as if stuck in a clost sized area. Then said it was the most boring game ever released. These people are sick.
Yeesh, 85 HOURS and you ain't even DONE with the kiddie pool intro quests yet? Now THAT'S the definition of milking a SNORER for all it's worth! You better start applying that resume to Space UberEats because the way you "blast" through content at a glacial snail's pace, it'll be another 300 hours before you "finish" this yawner.
I love how your standards have sunk so low that walking from one procedurally generated cardboard cutout "location" to the next qualifies as a real blast now. Did those other games you listed actually require any brainpower beyond holding W? No wonder you gravitated to this thoughtless skinner box - critical thinking isn't your strong suit!
Let me clue you in since your pea brain can't discern quality - REAL open world epics like Morrowind, New Vegas and the Witcher 3 had depth, choices, consequences and memorable characters/plots keeping you engaged for *hundreds* of hours. Starfield is a soulless tech demo with all surface and no substance wearing an "RPG" mask to fool rubes.
But hey, if endlessly fetching Space Trash and murdering the same 3 enemies ad nauseum for a weapon that will be obsolete in an hour qualifies as the ultimate "gaming experience" for you, by all means keep "blasting" comrade! Don't let me interrupt Todd's finely calibrated dopamine button mashing. 07 o7 o7
@@mattfayne9691 Correction - you've WASTED 50 hours of your brief mortal life shuffling between the same handful of dull objectives in Toddcorp's polluted wasteland simulation. "Big" is not the word I'd use to describe the breadth of this emptiest of sandboxes.
visits to all 1,000 repainted junk heaps would take 500 hours? And you see this as a glowing endorsement rather than damning indictment of artificial, mindless padding? Exploring procedurally fizzled "diversity" for its own sake is NOT an achievement, no matter how much you try to glamorize your grim waste disposal "adventure."
True depth emerges from quality over quantity. A single meticulously crafted world like Riven or Morrowind offers more reward, wonder and rich systemic gameplay possibilities than This slog could ever muster in 500 EONS.But keep telling yourself you haven't "done nothing" as you robotically fetch trash for daddy Todd. One mission literally has you walk into a building to access a computer, only to make you turn around, leave the building, and find 3 power cells in the building next to it. It's not a puzzle or fun. It's just something that pads out the run time and makes it feel like you have to work just to get to the fun parts of the game.
I legit downloaded it twice and deleted it just as much.
I'm intrigued as to whether those who love it, genuinely can't see the flaws. Or see them but consciously overlook them. eg. exceptionally poor AI that just stands there to be shot at. Repetitive quests that are 95% "go there, fetch something, come back". Repeat 10 times to complete quest. Poor User Interface. Zombie NPC's that look they are in a trance. The lack of reactivity from the envrionment compared to other leading games etc etc I actually like the graphics and don't care about the fast travel, it's those other things that bored me. And I found the main quest to be particularly boring and I didn't care for any of the characters
But once I just left that behind and started doing faction quests and side quests and let those little stories start taking me on adventures across the galaxy with context and without ever staying in one place for too long

I'm a huge Bethesda fan love the elder scrolls and fallout 3 and 4 like so fucking much but I'm having a really hard time with starfeild I'm level 8 but getting my shit kicked in on the regular and I'm finding the interface hard to learn and it just feels like alot to take in in young to keep with it and hopefully it finally clicks with me
At any time you can adjust the difficulty level. But you should first load in to a place on very difficult so the legendary items will spawn and then switch the difficulty to normal or easy.
You can mine minerals with a fire Hatchett??
I love Starfield
I just could not get into this game. Thank god for gamepass
So a space version of Skyrim
I'm thoroughly enjoying Starfield....
Anyone who has "deep space trucked" to Hutton Orbital knows it ain't all that grand or goorious.
I don't own the game, but why are ppl bashing the game so much? I saw someone call it Midfield for example. Thanks.
100 hours in I'm loving this game so much and I've just now started the main quest and it's amazing. The factions side quests are so amazing
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS GAME! I LOVE STARFIELD PLAY IT EVERY DAY!!!🔥🔥
Just beat the game. It was awesome probably starting a new character then NG+
hell yeah bro! im on ng+2 rn i love starfield
It's crazy it just came out in a year where it's not even going to make top 5 for game of the year though
Easily top 5
Objectively true title
I really just can't be arsed...
I had a few years off gaming then elden ring took over my life.Starfield will have me single before long can not put it down.
I became a space marine and did bounties
Nice to get away from real life for a while, least we can control what happens in the game lol amazing experience
I really need a disclaimer put beside every article like this. I am new to space games. And haven't played elite. Let's pretend like lords of the fallen is a souls game. Bc that's what we're doing here.
the yakuza series is still far superior but I will admit starfield is a good game (but no man sky is better)
Starfield is so unique, yet the Media and Xbox haters chose to focus on what other games do, games which NEVER do what Bethesda offers but lets NEVER bring that up in reviews.
The haters literally don’t touch on the RPG part of the game, the quests, the relationships, the lore… They’re judging it on everything except the main point of any Bethesda RPG… I’ve never seen so many mindless NPC comments before.
Cry harder xbot
@@ProjectMoff Starflop was garbage. Cry harder xbot
So unique??? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
It's literally just a Fallout DLC
I dont play it due to it not having a multiplayer. I def. Dont like it without. But the game is very impressive!
@@Joe-no7gsclearly you know nothing about gaming if you can't grasp the amount of work needed to put into a game this vast.
This is the 2nd Xbox game I've played & even I have to admit they did amazing with Starfield.
I am torn with this game. First 30 hours or so and I felt the same way - addicted and loving every second. However the more I played, the more I wish they would have made 4-5 totally fleshed out planets, the size of, say, New Vegas. With tons of unique locations, and exciting exploration. The way the game is now, exploration is close to non-existent. There is nothing worth exploring the 1000 procedural planets for. It’s all the same thing - some outposts, resources and landmarks with barren land between it all. Why do we need 1000 of those? Give me 4 New Vegas sized planets with tons of cool locations and it would be game of the generation.
No Mans Starfield
They had me at stealing star ships...m
Glad to be playing this game. It's a change of pace in a big direction for me.. I'm a huge Dmz CoD fan and have loved the solo story mode.. No trash talk from your team or lil kids.. I love this play ground and am actually counting the time till I can play again... almost 40 hours in and it's amazing... If you ever played star fox as I did the flying will become easier... Love this game
good game if not very terrible inventory management. And half of menu is disabled on enabled scaner wich is pissing very much
You shouldn’t have to play a game for 12-15 hours in order for it to be fun.
I am 60 hours in, and from what I can tell, I've got a hundred or more hours to go, if not more. It get's deeper and deeper as I go. All the haters are just crazy. And on a side not, the amount of time I have spent in this game that has to do with so-called "woke" stuff is under 5 minutes (in 60 hours).
Best game I’ve played in years ...
I'm 115 hours in 4th playthrough
wtf, are you just blasting through the main story line each time lol
Im like 230 hours in and barely touched the main story.. 😂
Well I murdered the game on the first playthrough did every quest and side mission. Now I just want to see what the multiverse offers differently plus I'm working on achievements and getting to level 100@@Battleneter
@@jmxarcx1173 I smell BS, I guess if your enjoying yourself thats all that matters.

Im anxious for The story dlc
I agree Addictive 100%
