Wonderful that Tiggy’s owner took him in when his original owner was ready to sell him-knowing full well what a challenge he could be. It is sad that the original person was ready to give up on him and sell for money, rather than search and give him to the best possible family. But he found it either way! He is a very lucky boy to now have an owner who invested the time and energy to accommodate him and find what’s best for him. ❤️

It is always a good idea to learn dog speak. All dogs do show and tell us what they need. Humans just rarely put in the time to learn it. Dogs read humans perfectly and shower us with limitless unconditional love. So it would be advantageous to try to learn their language wether with a professional like this or really putting the time and commitment on your own.

I love watching Victoria working with the dogs. I've a service dog that I trained with since a puppy. She'll be 10yrs old in a week. Have a new pup she's about 7mos now and she is VERY different training with. Episodes like this one are helpful with the new pup who is wild at times and a barker similar to this dachshund.❤❤❤

Great video. If you have a dog that gets overwhelmed, you can use things like Rex Specs to cut down their side vision slightly. Just like blinkers are used on horses, the goggles cut out a little of their peripheral vision so they focus straight ahead. I trained with the clear lenses, and use the darker ones in the sun to protect his eyes. I bought them for eye protection, but noticed that he always stays focused ahead when walking!

Wait...Did I hear that part well?
    Sell a puppy...
SELL a PUPPY when you don't want him bc he's barky and anxious...Like if it was an old-era game console/cell phone or an unwanted toy...
I know at least Amy "buying him" was for rehoming Tiggy in a better place instead of him being sold by his ex-owner to God knows who...But really?
"Adopting/Fostering" would have sound better in terms and actions for giving him to another person... :I

Amazing ! Dachshund owner. He's only 15 months old and quite a cutey but still a puppy. He will be that active and "nuts" for quite a while and maturity will stop the tugging also, and that is fairly soon. Are you telling me she had no chew toys for him ? Geeez ! Good for the trainer to expose the treat game and the squeaky chew toy, get more. I use soft training treats, 3 calories, and hide 12 of them around the room. You'll be amazed and enjoy at how he finds them all.The squeak attraction is mimicking live prey, which dachshunds are so attracted to. I throw small squeaky Kong !!!, balls (the soft little tennis balls, not the hard ones) to fetch, and my dog not only learned to fetch them, but in time now only fetches the green (attraction) and the squeak (attraction) balls, sitting and chewing on them when she rests for a minute after many throws. And you can play fetch with him indoors also. Can be a small area. GREAT exercise and fun for you too. Trainer nailed it walking him in a quiet woody park !! And I was so happy to see you'd let him run free. If you can walk him in an area for a bit off leash, he will soon learn to stay close and follow you. Oh, in time, take him on city walks again sometimes. I guarantee he will not bark at anybody or anything and he will love the activity around him and the change of scenery. Just love your pup ! You will be SO attached to him, SMILE !! PS, would love to see a video if possilble, after a year.

I’m sorry, I’m only 3 minutes in but she had MULTIPLE trainers and NO ONE could help them? Did she have the trainer(s) in the long run? Or did she just take a puppy course here, an obedience course there etc? Bc that’s the most common thing I’ve seen and heard, they take a 10 week course, once a week, and think that their dog will be “fixed”, then don’t stay consistent and forget everything 2-3 weeks after the class ended.

Seem Undersocialized and frustrated. Lack of leadership and connection with owner, sending mixed messages as she petted Tiggy while he was nibbeling on the owner. Also use a leash inside in the beginning so it is easier to guide the dog and get easier acsess. Toys, treats and games are great, but timing is everything. As a balanced trainer, I could fix the humping and mouthing in 15 minutes. The barking on the walk, I could solve in 15 minutes. It would probably take another couple of hours to train the OWNER, not the dog. There is NOTHING difficult about this case. And in the end, the relationship between the dog and owner would be SO MUCH BETTER!! This positive-only approach that Victoria uses is CRAP!!! Aside from that, this dog is DEFINITELY NOT a dachshund. It is definitely a mix that includes dachshund, but treating it like it's a "dachshund" is ridiculous. Victoria... do you know what a dachshund LOOK LIKE???

She doesn't have to - she & Tiggy did great with Victoria's lessons, especially controlling Tiggy's barking on walks & taking him to quieter, greener spaces. She also has learned to guide Tiggy in the scenting activities, playtime only on the floor, and a fuzzy, crackling, squeaky toy to distract him from tugging on guests' clothing.
