My sons are gamers and I never understood why they watched other people play video games until the day came that I realized that I like to watch other people watch shows like South Park and watch movies. If my son can spend an hour watching somebody else play a game and I can watch an hour watching somebody else watch a movie I can't be a judge casting Stones LOL

1:35 sometimes it’s fun to enjoy watching gamers play it because of their reaction or the simple fun sake of it. It’s very enjoyable. Plus there people who can’t afford or have access to the game so this can be a way for them fo enjoy it without playing

Watching streamers is the same reason watch reaction videos or even watching sports. It's just a relatively new medium where the majority of people aren't aware of it like that until they think about it like that.

There are two reasons I can think why somebody would watch someone else play video games, the same reason why they watch you do your reactions to South Park for one, and the other would be in order to see the game play of specific games if you're undecided as to whether or not you want to purchase the game to play for yourself.
The main reason I prefer watching someone else play video games is because I never really had money to buy games growing up and my parents made sure we were frugal with money, but even when they told us we could ask them if we wanted anything, I'd still be hesitant because of how poor I thought we were. Now as an adult with a form of income all of my own, I still don't buy games all too often because it's what I'm used to, that and the people that I watch are in fact entertaining to me.
Found the channel recently so am a bit late. I play games a lot, but I just started liking rogue-lites. I've been playing Dead Cells, Binding of Isaac, Blasphemous, Hollow Knight, and Darkest Dungeon lately.
Fun Fact: The real Lorde reenacted Randy's "I am Lorde Ya Ya Ya" in a video she posted sometime after the "Gluten Free Ebola" episode. Implying that she enjoyed the parody. 😂

People make a big deal about streaming, and at the end its true that you cannot moderate the way streamers and content creators deliver a message, or what they say in the same way tv does. But the final choice is on the people. They watch what they want and thats what it is.
Not an avid gamer here, but the Mass Effect series was a classic. These days you find games that are just another form of interactive narrative (except that the name "interactive narrative" is often used by really boring pieces, and these games have awesome stories).

I play alot of world of warcraft, wanted to play it when i was a kid back in 04 watching my brothers play but I wasnt allowed to play myself by my parents until 2012.
I've always wanted to play but the game is hella overpriced 20$/month subscription back than it may of been reasonable cause there wasn't many games like it but not there lots of games pretty simular that is either free or a 1 time payment

Season 18 was pretty good; there aren't many seasons that are bad, some individual episodes, but even those just don't hit as hard right now because of them being topical.
As far as gaming btw; im playing MechWarrior 5 and Metroid Prime Remaster. super excited for the new Zelda later this month.

Season 18 is also serialized, but much less than season 20. Watch S18E03 The Cissy, it focuses on Randy as Lorde.
I think it's the first season that started getting into serialized season of could there some plots in old season but the episodes normally still stood completely on their own
One thing I love about south Park is they make fun of everyone. When I was younger though I was pro canceling South Park.. even now I still stand with my opinion. South Park is cool but it's not really a woke like show. It's entertainment. They did hit a few good topics though. So I'm not saying they haven't helped at all. I'm just wondering has the good outweighed the bad?

I watch people play games all the time for various reasons. Sometimes it's to gauge if I want to buy a game, or sometimes it's the streamer/CZcamsr that's the entertainment and the game is just in the background. After watching people for so long, it's kind of like watching your friend play. I get why people would be turned off by it or misunderstand the point though.

Yup, fellow G a m e r reporting for duty. If you would ever consider a lets play of either of the two Southpark games (Stick of Truth / Fractured But Whole), I would watch the hell out of that. They put in a ton of references and it feels like playing a giant South Park episode, including all the great writing and humour. And the gameplay is very good too!

As a gamer who also enjoys watching let’s players on CZcams, I can tell you that I don’t watch it because I think they’re better than me. It’s like your reactions where you enjoy watching the person for their personality/commentary. Sometimes, I’ll even watch let’s plays of games I have no interest in just because I find the person playing to be entertaining.

I use to watch let’s plays all the time. My parents were strict about what I could read watch play and who I could hang out with. SpongeBob wasn’t acceptable there was no way in hell I could own a gaming system or video games.
We were also too broke to get the games and have the hours to actually play it completely through, so sometimes instead of spending the money on a game that I could only play maybe an hour if I sneak around I could be on my phone watching the whole game from start to end.
At some point I still wanted to talk to my gaming friends about the games even if I couldn’t join in so saying ‘ya I saw the new game sequel and holy shit you know that one part-!!! Crazy right it was so cool!’ Even if I couldn’t play it still was cool and it was nice to talk to someone about smt like games and not school/work/daily bs. Not a lot of your friends would stream themselves playing so the only way to know about the game when you couldn’t be there was to watch a different person play it and if you liked how they played enough games you could subscribe for free on CZcams

im not one to suggest video games, but about a year ago i picked up a game called Outer Wilds and it blew my mind, never played a game that good in my entire life. would recommend to anyone who likes single player exploration/puzzle solving games. not free but it's under $30 so pretty affordable

I watch a lot of gaming videos
Most of the timr, it’s videos of people playing a game I have no ability to play. Example being that I don’t have any of the current gen consoles. My newest Xbox is a 360 and my newest PlayStation is a 3. I have missed out on playing a ton of theee current gen games just because I don’t have the consoles that play them. Also, I don’t have wifi, which just adds to it.
Plus some of the streamers on CZcams and twitch are pretty entertaining on their own. That’s how I got into watching the Sidemen was watching them play GTA online years ago. Then I started watching more of their other videos.

Watch all of season 19. Especially episode 1. It’s a masterpiece of a satire of the current US political climate with Randy as a PC sorority bro, Caitlin Jenner, PC Principal… it’s amazing. It got me back into South Park after 10 years off

I never understood the streaming thing, but I love playing, the only new game I've been enjoying really is Hogwarts, other than that still playing GTA and mostly old games
1:51 I think sometimes its more about the streamer/youtuber than the game itself, like yea its fun but some games get boring quick when you play alone, so alot of people just prefer to watch someone who they like play instead, maybe they're funny or have cool comentary or editing or paly well, I think its the same as people who watch reactors tbh, If I wanted I could go and watch these episodes by myself, but I find it more fun to see someone watching and commentating them for the first time

Tbh it feels like people might want the experience. Watching someone play a game is like watching someone react to a video. Or they want to see how different people make their choices compared to their own playstyle. The games I'm watching I've never played and the ones I do own I'd seldom watch people play it. If it's new and exciting, I'd wanna watch someone play. It's just a video but a game, I don't see the difference between it. Probably also due to me not wanting to get a console just to play one or two games that I'll beat and never play again. More replay value even if I'm not the one playing. Like the only issue I'd have watching is when commenters tell the one playing how to play or trying to dictate the game when they can but their own.
About kids watching streamers playing games... way before youtube and before we even had computers at home there're gaming clubs/internet cafés ... a friend of mine was paying to the best gamers to watch them play ... same with any sport with spactators
Oh hell yeah, I game! Big fan of Markiplier and Jacksepticeye on YT (not so much of a PEWDS fan) and CoBruhs on Twitch. I love watching let's plays! but so many of the let'splayers are actually not that good at games but it is the commentary, and comedy of them failing that makes them entertaining. Critics on TV are totally self-unaware.
I am a completionist so I just 100% Hogwart's Legacy and before that was AC Origins, and AC Odyssey, Valhalla is next but I am currently enjoying some down time with all of the House Flipper DLC.
