I was waiting for the monthly update for when we go in August. I’m not changing much of our plans from last year. I am worried about the Las Vegas New Mexico fires…..watching that closely. We did add Chaco Canyon and Aztec Ruins.

    We just returned from RMNP with timed entry of 6-8 a.m. for mid-July. It was so nice to get an early start and have pictures without people in most of them. This is the best way to experience the national parks. Be sure to get your separate Bear Lake timed entry too if you would like to drive to that area. Parking was available for Bear Lake for the 6-8 am time slot but parking lots in the Bear Lake corridor were full later in the morning. The lines to access the park at later times would have been at least an hour, even more if you are going to Bear Lake which has another stopping point to check access.

    Used to love going to RMNP and Estes Park. Camped at the KOA and rode horses at
    Sombrero Stables Ate breakfast at the Big Horn Restaurant most days and dinner was wherever we felt like eating. I actually got a ride one day in Les Foiles` Cobra replicar. Went into the park anytime we wanted to. Took Old Fall River Road up to the visitor`s center and then Trail Ridge Rd back to EP. Hiked to Emerald Lake, Lawn Lake and Mills Lake too. Had a friend who lived in Allenspark and stopped at Charlie Eagle Plume Store.
    Was there for the flood of 1976, Lawn Lake washout and the torrential rains of 2013.
    Now we are looking to stay in the Rapid City area in September and do several day trips to avoid the crush. Gad we got to go there before it became so crowded.

    Ihave a timed entry and park pass so does that mean once we came into the park we can stay as long as we want or do we have to leave when the timed entry pass expires? Sorry if this seems obvious but just making sure I understand and don't need to buy more timed passes.

    • @ColoradoMartini
      @ColoradoMartini  Před 2 lety

      Yes you can stay in the park. And it also depends on what pass you have. The bear lake corridor plus pass, you have the run of the whole park. The other pass you will only be able to stay in all areas except for Bear lake corridor

    The full-park passes are only available for afternoon entry times on the date I want to go. Can I get two passes, a limited park pass for the morning, and the full-park pass to do Bear Lake Road stuff in the afternoon?
    How would that work? Would I show the limited-park pass on entry to RMNP, and then show the full-park pass when entering Bear Lake Road in the afternoon? Or would I have to leave the park and re-enter in the afternoon to show my full-park pass?

    • @ColoradoMartini
      @ColoradoMartini  Před 2 lety

      Yes you can use your pass for the rest of the park and see those areas. And then when it's time to go into Bear lake you can use that pass. Log in at 5:00 pm mdt the day before. And they'll be some morning passes available. The only thing that you can buy in advance is an afternoon pass
