Tall Girl 2 is an American romantic comedy directed by Emily Ting from a screenplay by Sam Wolfson. The film stars Ava Michelle, Sabrina Carpenter, Griffin Gluck, and Steve Zahn. It is the sequel to the 2019 film Tall Girl. The film was released on February 11, 2022.
    Plot
Jodi Kreyman is 16 and 6 ft 1+1⁄2 in (1.87 m) tall. She has been tall for her age since she was three, which has made her insecure her whole life. Students continually ask Jodi, "how's the weather up there?". In contrast, Jodi's older sister Harper is of average height and a multiple beauty pageant winner. Jack Dunkleman, a life-long friend, frequently asks her out, but she is reluctant, partly because he's much shorter than her.
Stig Mohlin, a Swedish foreign exchange student, joins Jodi's class, and she is immediately interested, along with most girls in her school. However, Kimmy Stitcher, her bully, starts showing him around. Dunkleman is distressed to learn that Stig will be staying at his house as the host family. Jodi asks Harper for help getting Stig to notice her. Harper and their mother help her with a complete makeover.
Kimmy and Schnipper prank call Jodi, pretending to be Stig and asking her to homecoming. To Fareeda's frustration, Jodi hides in the bathroom to avoid Kimmy. Stumbling across Stig playing the piano, he encourages her to play, and they sing the duet "I've Never Been in Love Before" from the musical Guys and Dolls.
Jodi finds her father has organized a Tip Toppers (tall people club) chapter meeting in their house at home, which she finds upsetting. Stig calls, and at first, thinking it is another prank call, she yells at him, but he invites her to watch a musical. She turns up to Dunkleman's house, and he becomes jealous when he realizes she is there to see Stig. He continually interrupts their evening, but as Stig escorts Jodi home, they kiss. Later, feeling guilty, Stig asks Dunkleman for advice, and he tells him to focus on being with Kimmy. Jodi gets angry at Dunkleman when she learns this.
Meanwhile, another girl-Liz-asks Dunkleman on a date. Schnipper is now interested in Jodi, so he gets Kimmy to ask her to join them for an escape room; Jodi ditches a concert with Fareeda to go. In the escape room, they kiss in couples: Jodi and Schnipper, Kimmy and Stig, and Dunkleman and Liz, until Jodi gets frustrated and leaves. Jealous, Stig talks to Jodi and agrees to go on a date to Harper's pageant competition. Harper wins, but Stig does not turn up. At Dunkleman's party, Stig explains that he lost track of time helping Dunkleman set up.
Dunkleman rejects Liz when she asks him to the homecoming dance. He gives Jodi platform heels to apologize for being a bad friend. Jodi is sent a video from after she left the party. Stig pretended that Jodi had an unrequited love for him. Standing up for Jodi, Dunkleman first called him out. Then he had a fistfight with Schnipper.
At the homecoming dance, Kimmy and Stig are crowned Homecoming Queen and King, but he breaks up with her. Jodi arrives in the high heels Dunkleman gave her and made a speech expressing newfound confidence in herself. Stig asks Jodi out, but she rejects him. She talks to Dunkleman: he reveals the reason he always carries a milk crate. He stands on it and leans in to kiss her.

As a 15 year old, nothing pisses me off like movies and shows and ads all trying to appeal to me wanting to be trendy and an influencer and that I have anxiety and all the other bs. Fucking crazy they think everyone my age is the same person. I legitimately haven't seen a TV show in recent years come close to representing an actual mentally stable teenager.

I've struggled with mental illness most of my life and know many other people who have as well and I just don't understand why it's become so glorified, like people think it's this trendy label anyone can slap on without any professional diagnosis. Shit sucks and it ruins lives. If you wanna feel unique why not actually develope a personality instead of this stupid ass "self diagnosed" mental illness shit to make yourself feel special. Like shouldn't the goal be to be mentally stable? I think we shouldnt obviously look down on people with actual mental illness but why the fuck would anyone want to be mentally ill? Maybe I'm just salty at teenagers being angsty teenagers but it's extremely frustrating seeing something I and many others suffer with being devolved into some quirky personality trait.

As someone who was actually diagnosed and struggles with actual anxiety, to the point where I've had such a sever anxiety attack I was catatonic for 7 minutes rocking back and forth on my kitchen floor crying and not blinking, it is genuinely infuriating how many people with just general day to day anxiety, as in, the _emotion,_ say that they actually have _anxiety._ No you don't Ashley, those are called emotions. I've had people spread rumours and slander about me about how I'm such a "downer" and I make everyone around me depressed. I don't even do anything, they say I just have a "depression vibe" no I have _DEPRESSION._ And these are the same people who pretend to have depression and say, "no look, I have depression and anxiety! I wasn't diagnosed with either of them, but I watch dream and Wear graphic eyeliner with an upside down heart drawn under my eye like a 17th century french aristocrat that got confused"

    • @bluepheonix2455
      @bluepheonix2455 Před 2 lety +1

context: I am actually a very left-leaning person. I'm LGBT, I'm on the autism spectrum, and I'm not conservative about literally anything except weed and that's just because I have sensitive lungs and would rather people did it in their own time instead of around me, because the smoke hurts my lungs. I'm also not an outrage person; I'm generally calm even when I'm absolutely fuming. But the culture of faking mental illness, or more specifically, confusing "normalising" and "popularising" and turning mental illness into a trend, is a massive trigger for me (not "trigger" as in being offended, "trigger" as in it causes my _actual_ diagnosed anxiety to flare up) because I've had a lot of struggles with my mental health and wellbeing, and have been actively harassed and bullied by people for my mental health problems and mental disabilities, while at the same time they pretend to have "the cool depression and anxiety~" and movies like Tall Girl just sensationalise this weird trend even more.

Of course there are a lot of people with anxiety, I won't dispute that, but
I've gotta wonder if someone in the medical/therapy industry is encouraging the spread of the idea that everyone needs their treatments. Any seed of doubt about oneself can become a weed, with self-diagnoses of mental illness that weren't present before creating more permanent versions of themselves through placebo.

I love your content, and I agree this is a terrible movie, but one thing I have to disagree on is anxiety, which I mean anxiety is different for everyone so that makes sense. But as opposed to that schizophrenia hallucinations you mentioned, I have really bad anxiety and there is a voice in my head always telling me that I’m not good enough and that everyone hates me. Granted- this voice is my voice- this voice is me rationalizing the worst possible situation and then telling myself it’s real because I can’t control it. I think obviously the voice in the show is a directorial choice to show this voice that people with anxiety like me deal with. Yea it is really clunky the way it’s done, but I think the message of “if you told your therapist you suffer from anxiety and you hear voices, that isn’t anxiety that’s schizophrenia hallucinations”, while a bit funny, is a little harmful. No hate at all, I’m sure you didn’t intend to offend people with anxiety who actually deal with that, I just hope I made my point clearly

i also found it a bit weird how in the beginning he says:"*to me* anxiety is the feeling of your fight or flight mechanism about to be triggerd" i get that is his perspective but that's more being scared than anything else, anxiety is way more complicated than that. Of course that is his perspective and we can't expect him to know this stuff.

I can't tell if the "no black people in the audience" bit was a joke or Lewis just didn't check because it doesn't actually matter to the context of this video... I paused it and there's actually a pretty good mix of people.

Louis, I would love to see you branch out into world news. Your outlook on many of the issues that plague society is just the right thing for so many people right now, and the amount of humor and levity you bring to everyday people’s lives is very much needed. If WW3 breaks out tomorrow, I would love to see you making videos about the war and cracking jokes at everyone’s expense until the world ends. But seriously though, if you ran a news channel it would be fucking hilarious. Anyway, keep the ripper jokes coming, and have a great day!

It’s because self diagnosis has become such a popular thing. You no longer need therapy/medical professionals to say you have a anything. Depending on the severity, it’s the equivalent of me telling everyone that I have cancer and only a couple of months to live, but really I just have the flu.
