- Royal Robbins, an American rock climber famous for his first ascents of some of Yosemite National Park’s biggest mountains, died last month after a long illness. He was 82. BBC News spoke to three legendary American climbers to find out how Robbins inspired them.

I remember climbing one of Royal's routes on Daff dome in "the meadows" called "grey ghost". Man I feel fortunate to have made it out in one piece! That dude had huge huevos!
