  • Royal Robbins, an American rock climber famous for his first ascents of some of Yosemite National Park’s biggest mountains, died last month after a long illness. He was 82. BBC News spoke to three legendary American climbers to find out how Robbins inspired them.

    I remember climbing one of Royal's routes on Daff dome in "the meadows" called "grey ghost". Man I feel fortunate to have made it out in one piece! That dude had huge huevos!

    Guy at the end was like "we need more masculine capitalists" (I don't think we do? that seems to have caused/exacerbated a lot of our current bullshit?), which is a weird personal opinion to add to a remembrance of a climber.
