  • In this video, I share why I think Mexico City could be a great place to live and work, especially for expats. If I didn't make Thailand home, CDMX would be my next best choice. #mexicocity #cdmx #expatlife
My current base is in Thailand, between Bangkok and Phuket, but there's something special about Mexico City that draws me in, particularly the neighborhoods of Condesa and Roma.
I explore these areas, known for being suitable for remote work, and talk about why CDMX is an ideal place for expats. The city is friendly to dogs, which means a lot to me, and it's easy to get around by bike. The parks are full of life, with people enjoying the outdoors, which adds to the city's charm.

Food is another big plus here, with amazing local dishes everywhere. I take you to some favorite spots, like Tacos Guo, a place with a long family history. Despite the higher costs, areas like La Condesa are safe and full of life, making them attractive to foreigners.
We'll also look at the everyday culture of Mexico City, from cozy cafes and bookstores to the incredible architecture and historic sites. Even with the challenge of adjusting to the altitude and a different service style, the city's active lifestyle, safety, and friendly people make it appealing for anyone considering making it their home.
Whether you're a digital nomad looking for your next spot or just curious about life in one of the most dynamic cities, this video is for you. From the easy-to-navigate streets of Condesa and Roma to the hospitality of its residents, find out why Mexico City might just be the perfect place for expats. Follow me as we discover what makes CDMX a strong candidate for a home base where history, culture, and convenience come together.

I lived in Mexico 3 years and Thailand 3 years. I love Thailand for ease and safety. The food is amazing, friendly ppl and beautiful landscapes.
I would love Thailand more if they would offer better visa options for long term visitor's. Its such a hassle and racket with their immigration.
Mexico gives you 180 days visa free which is so easy and stress free. Its easy to qualify for a 4 yr temporary visa and you can get permanent residency. Thailand makes it hard to get permanent residency.
Mexico is getting very expensive now but I plan to retire there

Doesn't the endless barking dogs annoy you?

Nicely done! For a long time the massive population of CDMX kept me away. A couple years ago I decided to rip the band aid and fell in love with CDMX. I am a runner and thus felt at home in Condesa. Thanks for showing the cost of a haircut and laundry. I have a barber in GDL that charges about 150 MXN. I am definitly looking forward to returning and meeting up with the local running groups. Enjoy your stay!

Its Thailand vs rest of the world now. Perhaps a decade or two back, it made some sense to compare Thailand vs Philippines, US, UK, Mexico etc, however, Thailand has moved so far ahead in all metrics leaving rest of the world in dust. Thailand keep building more condos, so no increase in rental even if a million digital nomads move there, internet is already 5G, infrastructure is world class, cheap food, transportation, great culture, good service, nightlife, beach, its all there plus low crime.
Thailand is doing everything right while rest of the world is going in reverse.

Ramon, the distiction between *immigrant and *expat/digital nomad maybe: "immigrants" flee their land for opportunity and to make income from the country they go to. Often, they cannot return to their home country, such as Chinese attempting to immigrate into the U.S. through Mexico. Often, China will not accept them return of the U.S. does not grant them a visa.
"Expats or digital nomads" leave their home country for "quality of life" or a unique experience that they cannot find in their country, but they can return anytime. They do not rely or need the new country for income. A form of extended tourism. The latter is the case for me.

But they never set foot outside those neighbourhoods 😹😹, because of course, insecurity is more present. You don't seem to be showing the real side of Mexico City... Like Iztapalapa, and others...
And of course, Mexico State (Estado de México) is the most forgotten part by foreigners, literally it amazes me how there is literally NO FOREIGNERS here, because Estado de México is indeed, the place you get to see in news, very dangerous at any hour, with horrific traffic, horrific public transport, horrific arquitecture and urbanization. todas las ciudades en el mundo tienen sus lugares feos ,peligrosos y menos turísticos. si es que realmente eres "mexicano" deberías de estar contento que se muestre los lugares bonitos de México. te noto muy recentido,¿no serás sudamericano?

@@peanutnukle I think so🤔 but this is not the problem, the problem is that some retirees do not like the Mexican culture because we are very noisy, we party celebrating everything, and we really like loud music. I think some Mexican places are not for them due to this.
