I was once in an airport, going to a con, and I got to a security desk. The guy who was checking my backpack was about fourty, and looked bored as hell. So he looked into my bag, and it was all normal until he just stopped. He was looking into my bag as if there was a bomb inside. He reached in, in the most strange way possible, and pulled out my Death Note. 'What the hell is this?!' He said. Well I didn't know what to say! This had never happened to me before! 'It's my Death Note.' 'Your... Death Note.' He looked at me suspiciously, and then he actually called someone else over to look at my bag. 'This lady has a... 'Death Note' in her bag,' said the man. The other employee just looked at me, then the man, then back at the man. Then he suddenly burst out laughing. 'Don't worry, I won't tell L,' he said to me, 'You can let her through.'

DevilsWatchOverUs idk man... I just go alone and usually end meeting some pretty chill people and hang with them but ya it's way easier to go by yourself. It saves you the stress of worrying about your friends and you can go to the booths/panels/or whatever that interests you

Could not agree more on that last topic. Take a full walk around the Dealers Hall before committing to a purchase. Also if you happen to see a figure you like and don't see it at any other booth, take a quick look on a few sites just to be sure your getting a fair price. I found one I wanted but I found the same one online at half the price so don't let the dealers trick you. I found a few that were overpriced than getting it from the site and thats including shipping. If your on a budget, take your time especially on the last day, not every dealer wants to bring everything back with them.
Yeah, almost everything at a convention is overpriced. I usually just go home with Artist Alley stuff (not dealers room stuff), and I'm happy with that.
My favourite purchase last year was a Steven Universe themed coin purse. :)

hello! this is last year, i know but going alone in a convention is totally fine since 99% of the people there is hella nice, i mean not all of ze convention will have those people but you'll enjoy it just fine even if you're alone. I went last year and it was a blast. i was only 14 with my pocket money... I didn't bought anything..

At my second convention I lost my phone and realised shortly after I got in line, keep in mind my cosplay was Kaneki Ken.
In a panicked state I pulled of my mask and wig and frantically started searching my bag. It ended up on the staircase to the convention centre and a girl gave it back to me. It wasn’t until I was calm that I’d realised I was looking quite ridiculous. Embarrassed by my appearance, once I’d entered the con I ran to the nearest bathroom and put my wig and mask back on.

I remember the last time I went to a convention, someone asked me in my Izaya Orihara cosplay to take a photo /with/ me and it was lit. I was so happy, please ask to take photos. Also one time a Shizuo Heiwajima cosplayer asked to step on me. That was also really fun and creative. Do not be afraid to ask for that kind of stuff!!

How old do you have to be to go to a con? Because, I'm only 13 and 1. My cosplays suck xD 2. I'm freaking short and idk what will happen if I try to talk to like, an 18 year old with a great cosplay xD
AkikoX There's no age limit to go to a con. I've been to Anime Expo when I was 9 and now I'm 14 and coming back to AX after a while. I was short at the time and I still am. Even though my cosplay sucked back in 2013 (I wasn't into anime at the time so I cosplayed a non-anime character) people still approached me to take photos of me. And don't be shy of 18 year olds with great cosplay. Like Aki said, there are other people who are experiencing the same as you (and me, but since I'm going back to AX, this time I'm a casual con-goer, if this is even a word). And don't think your cosplays suck though. I may have not seen your cosplays, but I bet it would be better than I can do in my power. I don't know if I even want to cosplay the next time I go to a con :-/ I'm pretty shy. I'm pretty much there to see cosplays and to buy merch lol

Depending on the con you can go you just have to have a family member sign a permission form. At least that's what the requirement is for Kumoricon in Portland.
Most cons you'll even see toddlers in there in cosplay and I know that bc I went to one to see a really cute baby harley Quinn

i normally just say “i’m a cosplayer, i dress up as characters for events” if i’m asked about things in my luggage
same but sometimes the person looks so scary I don't say anything
Another important tip: Stay hydrated ! I almost past out due to me getting overheated in my cosplay, luckily I got water into my system and slowly cooled myself down
Also if you need to make sure to take breaks especially if your planing on being their for a long time.
Food is also important make sure to keep yourself fed so you can enjoy the con and not be focused on being hungry
Fun fact: if you ever see me at a con as a cosplayer I’ll probably happy cry if you take a picture with me. I LOVE PICTURES
look, i'm not a pro like Aki is (i've been going for 6 years now and i only go to like 2-3 max due to lack of cash to fly around the world and back), but take a lesson or two from me: #1) always, ALWAYS!, brings snacks, food and drinks to cons. not saying you can't buy them at the con, it's just easier on your wallet/purse. and #2) just have fun. stop to relax, buy the stuff you can't buy normally and just meet people with the same interests as you. heck! take a moment to just do Karaoke. it's fun to be part of it or just sing!

also, bring alot of tape. not ducktape, i mean Grade A construction tape of the same color or black. as someone who uses mainly cardboard props as a "cosplay", it's useful for everything! even when people need it.
good tips! idk if you know this, but lots of cities have smaller conventions that have cheaper and smaller cons that are nice to visit, so if you dont have to only go 2-3 times. look into them ;)

Ahaha, I paid £2.50 for a bottle of coke which is normally £1 and then found out that the venue itself had vending machines which had drinks for £1.50 XD

I can totally relate to the cosplay falling apart bit. lol The beading I had carefully hand sewn to my Neo Queen Serenity dress decided to break a part while I was in costume just 30 minutes before the Sailor Moon Photoshoot. Luckily I work well under pressure so I quickly went back to my hotel room and carefully hand sewn the beads back on while still in the costume.
I didn't get to see this video before I went, but when I saw the pictures part of your video, I was like, "THAT WAS ME!" So many people asked for a pic of me, and I was so flattered and happy. I had no clue that this was a thing!

I’ve been going to Comic Con for the past four years, an this is still the most accurate thing I’ve seen.
Everything is on point in this video since I been going to conventions for years. The more I think of doing cosplay with so much stuff to it, it starts breaking down before or during the convention. I'm like dammit. But I learned to spend my money wisely at conventions. Since I go to so many in a year, I don't need to go crazy in buying a bunch of stuff that I probably could have waited. Or, shopped on ebay for a cheaper price. I only buy in the dealer rooms for the rare stuff now, mostly hand made stuff.

I went to a con in Scotland(I live near London) and I was going for two days and I was cosplaying Sebastian And Ciel And I packed my cosplay and accessories and all my basic stuff....was crammed and shoved into a backpack 😂
