  • The humble bottle jack is probably the single best jacking solution for off road, overlanding, and general DIY Garage use. And the Safe Jack with accessories is the Last Best Option.
Doc shows off the basic Safe Jack kit with extension and frame plates, along with some accessories of his own choosing.

Nice jack set and video. I've got a saddle similar to yours from the Buddy company. Works great. A bottle jack is much better than the manufacturer's scissor one.

Looks like a nice product. I’ve got an idea on a bottle jack handle holder so the handles not rolling around. Let me know. Thanks.

good video. One consideration: In order to take advantage of the increased surface area, the plate chosen must have enough bending strength to resist that. One assumes the ground is soft, otherwise the plate serves no purpose. Also consider creating a pocket in the plate reduces the bending strength of the plate.

Thats a great idea for the base. A double-thick piece of plywood is just as good and a lot cheaper than the one Safe Jack sells.

Would you go for 12 ton over 6 safe jack for a 4Runner when overlanding solo?

None whatsoever. And the jack lives on it's side in my bag.

Good idea. I usually have a small tarp as well for those wet and muddy days.
