- Michigan football is expected to name Alex Orji their starting quarterback ahead of this week's season college football opener vs Fresno State Saturday night on NBC. We discuss why this is such an interesting story.
MOORE ALLEGATIONS?
It promises to be a busy week for the Wolverines as the Michigan football program received its second NCAA Notice of Allegations in two weeks, this time for SpyGate. And it could lead to a suspension of new head coach Sherrone Moore given that he was already suspended with Jim Harbaugh for BurgerGate. Stay tuned.
URBAN TOUGH ON BUCKEYES?
Plus former Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer says while his former college football program is loaded with talent, he added their 2024 schedule early on is kind of a joke. We will explain.

And leave it up to former Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard to poke his rival Ohio State last Saturday on ESPN GameDay. He suggested that when Ryan Day gets fired for losing to Michigan again, it is fortunate for the Buckeyes that Chip Kelly is their offensive coordinator. Since he has so much head coaching experience at Oregon, UCLA and in the NFL, he could easily transition into the head coaching spot at Ohio State. We are sure that comment went over well with the Buckeyes faithful! LOL.

QB Brian Greise had never completed a pass going into his senior year. In 1997 Greise won a Natty for Michigan at the Rose Bowl ...not bad for a beginner QB.

Anybody who calls Michigan, "that team up north" is questionable in my eyes. Michigan and its fans are right up front about Ohio State. We like all the back and forth between the two schools. You don't actually know if Tuttle is a "better passer" than Orji. Also, nobody seems to be concerned about a true freshman starting at Nebraska and nobody seemed concerned about DJU at FSU despite him never accomplishing anything so far in his career. Will Howard has a career completion rate of 58% and the best two defenses he faced last year were Troy and NC State. Orji will be fine. He's a Michigan Man.

He’s also been in and around the big games, albeit in a very limited capacity.
Though Ohio State will never admit it, they’re decentralizing their offense from the QB position; that’s why Chip Kelly was brought in, to establish a run game independent of Ryan Day’s “Grasscapades” finesse football.
My guess is that year one will be a struggle. In all seriousness, if Ohio State wanted to win, they’d make Kelly the HC and Day the OC. But hey, I’m a Michigan guy; I don’t mind seeing Ohio State underachieve. Put some whip cream on top with a cherry and serve up another loss. lol.

Interesting anecdote about Will Howard: he was set to go to USC in December until Miller Moss played the bowl game. Afterward Lincoln Riley told Howard he will stick with Moss, so that’s how he ended up going to Ohio State.
It took ONE meaningless bowl game for Riley to say never mind to Howard, which tells me he was never that excited about Howard being his QB. But Ohio State wasn’t Howard’s first choice either. Sounds like a settling situation on both sides. Interesting to watch this unfold.

Nice video as always. But regarding Orji, I have tried to follow this as best as I can. Not a lot of solid info out there. What you said about Tuttle not being able to start cause he is banged up. Did Michigan actually phrase it like that? If so, I just got very worried. I had heard that he hasn’t been in the mix at all because he is injured. I know that is a slight difference but it seems to me to be meaningful. Then again I am a lawyer, so I parse words for a living.
Big Ten Network phrased it like that so we will have to see.

OSU had Washington on schedule for this year. Washington bailed on game after it was announced they were joining Big Ten. I think the OOS thing will be making changes for all schools with the expanded playoffs.
Washington didn’t bail, the B1G cancelled the game due to Washington joining the conference.

Urban should know that Washington was on the schedule, so they had to be dropped since they are in the Big Ten. In coming years they play Georgia, Alabama and Texas 2 times each. Does anyone else in the country play all of those teams?

Moore has been the OL coach, OC coach making play calls and HC in big games...he builds plays on plays, show a formation from previous plays then run something different on a squad. He's got dudes all over the field. No matter what the situation, it will be figured out like run 32 run plays on ya, one pass play but was a pass interference. The D a little concern there, see if Wink can call a college game. Still dudes all over the field and no body hits like M defense. No one talks about that. Look at Q Johnson nailing Ebuka early in the game and never heard Ebuka name for rest of game. M defense is lights out. You might make a play on them but look out, they comin' full speed to knock u out. 💪 That mentality goes way back in M defense. Go Blue!!! God help you all, u gonna need it.
