Thank you for posting this! I indeed purchased the Kaplan book but with the wide range of the math subject, I did not feel as if it was assisting me with my learning nor helping me retain my knowledge for passing the test. I do confess that your light and salt learning is helping me understand the subjects at a bit more in depth view and the comprehension with your explanation is so much more helpful that what I received in the past from teachers of my traditional public schooling. Then again, sadly my public schooling was just that. Not in depth, nor captivating and things weren't explained properly in any specific detail. The teachers were cryptic and just assumed you were following along.. Thank you for everything you do for us students. I'm still a light and salt unofficial video learning student with hopes to pass the test one day soon. Just the math portion left and I can feel the success of me passing it! I believe that I can do it!

I have wanted to literally die sometimes bc of math. I’m a mother of 4. I am going through a divorce. I spent 16 years being a stay at home mom while he served the army. And now I am left with nothing. I have no career, no job. Nothing. And In order for me to get hired I have to at least have my GED. I’ve passed every single test but math. It’s so overwhelming. I get discouraged very easily bc there’s just simply too much to remember. There are thousands of rules. I learn one topic and then BAM right on to the next. I feel I have to learn math in a few months that everyone else had from K-12 to learn: I was not given the luxury of a good childhood. So I am left feeling beyond hopeless. Who the heck would want to hire a loser like me compared to others? I could use all the help you have to offer. I need to be able to provide for myself and my children. Mahalo🌺

You are not alone! Many students with situations similar have been able to get their GED® with some hard work. Here's some starting points.
Read a book you ENJOY for a half hour every day -- this will help you with ALL the tests. And work on readtheory.org, reading each passage slowly and carefully. Take your time on each quiz and don’t work on it when you're stressed or rushed.
The best way to get help for the math portion is to use the website www.lightandsaltlearning.org/ged-math-crash-course. Start at Unit 0 and work your way through doing one worksheet for each video.

As well as receiving my teaching degree and now doing my masters in nursing. 🙌🏻 I didn’t know this was even possible as I thought the GED had to be taken in your state only. Let alone a whole different country. Thank you GED program! Definitely a life saver, if I would have had to complete the Dutch high school program I would have most likely not pass. But i feel that if i do fail it would be due to word problems and algebra questions i don't know. So im really depending for the slopes and lines to come in clutch for me to pass my GED.

Hello, There are 5 main parts to the GED math.
      1: Algebra Essentials
      2: Slope & Lines
      3: GED Geometry
      4: Data Analysis
      5: Word Problems
Instead of trying to learn them all, it's likely you'll do better if you go deep on one portion. Especially since they all tend to overlap.

As a 18 year old the best thing I can say to help you is to actually do what she said and study 2 high school maths from a basic level and then expand your knowledge on them. Again do one first then move to the other you should be fine. Consistency and repetition is key with Math. Use khan academy and go to your nearest library and get a textbook with specific math subjects. There are also tutors you can pay online to help you. You can use preply and you can find tutors with decent prices.

Go to ged.com/ to create an account. This will allow you to track your progress through the GED® tests.

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  Před 3 měsíci

It really depends on which you need more work on. There are 5 main parts to the GED math.
      1: Algebra Essentials
      2: Slope & Lines
      3: GED Geometry
      4: Data Analysis
      5: Word Problems
Instead of trying to learn them all, it's likely you'll do better if you go deep on one portion. Especially since they all tend to overlap.
