When people ask for proof, they’re asking you to perform a miracle in front of them. They’re asking you to build a Time Machine and show them the resurrection of Jesus.
Jesus encountered the same type of attitude, and He would always perform miracles, and they still didn’t believe in Him…called him a demon, in fact. Even when His actions were in perfect alignment with Scripture.
Ironically, Jesus is more than willing to reveal Himself to anyone so that there is no doubting. But it has to be on His terms.

Maybe some people, but not rational people. No one can prove God exists, or Jesus was his Son. No one can prove God doesn't exist, or that Jesus wasn't his Son. One can only review the information thus far available. People interpret information differently which is why you get different conclusions.

God designed his kingdom perfectly. He wants us to have faith. Faith is the evidence of things hoped for, things that are not seen. People that ask for proof don’t really want proof. The Pharisees asked Jesus for miracles as proof and he told them that it wouldn’t matter if he did miracles for them, they still wouldn’t believe. The next time someone asks you for proof, tell them to call on God for proof.

I think that God provided us evidence and truth we can present to defend our faith. We should be able to make a logical argument that is convincing.
I agree that it requires some amount of faith. My argument is usually that it requires significantly more faith to believe an alternative because of the evidence of biblical truths.

That's not what the bible tells us. Jesus being God knowing what's on their hearts and the future could say that. Us being human not knowing people's hearts or the future (who will reopent and trust in Jesus) can't say that. 1Peter 3:15 is our marching orders on that matter and you can pray for that individual. Prayer and supplication must be made for all men....
So learn the bible start to finish pray to God for understanding(wisdom) and find all the credible evidence (eyewitness accounts in the bible being primary), then there is archeological evidence, scientific evidence (real proven science actually points to God), historical documents (though these are not authoritative as the bible).

"Truth" is demonstrated dear not asserted, its that which best conforms with the FACTS and EVIDENCE and has nothing whatsoever to do with "faith"
Knowledge of FACTS, also called "propositional knowledge", is defined as true belief that is distinct from opinion or guesswork by virtue of justification. A "FACT" is a point of data that is objectively verifiable ( demonstrable ) Absent "Facts" one has only the opinion or guesswork and no justification to claim such knowledge.
Science has all the FACTS yet claims nothing as "absolute" truth. Christianity conversely claims absolute truth in everything yet has no FACTS 😜 I actually care about the truth of my beliefs so I have no use for "faith"
Your "faith" is no more reliable or valid than the faith used by followers of Zeus, Thor, Allah, Buddah, Mithrah, Dionysius or any one of a thousand other man made "Gods". Obviously if "faith" can be used to believe in God *X* and also used to believe in God *Y* then faith is NOT a reliable pathway to truth.
_"where there is evidence no one speaks of "faith" - we do not speak of faith that two and two are four or that the earth is round_ _We only speak of faith when we wish to substitute emotion for evidence"_

A few days ago when I was evangelizing, someone asked me the same thing and my answer was close to what the wise pastor said. I asked the gentlemen if he witnessed the founding fathers signing the Declaration and how does he know the signatures are real? He looked at me quizzically. The same faith one has for historians, I told him my faith is deeper for God who wrote the Bible. Then there's plenty of prophecy that's been fulfilled. Jesus is King.

Yep, we have no corroborating evidence for the Declaration of Independence, or for World War I (and soon World War II) and the Civil War or any of the events of past history, so of course they are all imaginary. Yep, anything that happened in the past for which I was not present did not really happen. I was not here for the building of this house, so obviously it does not........wait a minute, it does exist! I have independent tangible evidence, something not available for the supernatural claims of the bible.

@stevepierce6467 It's very easy to corroborate. The Bible itself is an independent corroboration of many different witness accounts from multiple sources from different ethnic backgrounds. It's not the monocultural work that atheists always (predictably and laughably) claim it is. It is literally an amalgam of Greek and Hebrew historians, travelers, documentarians, rulers, and chroniclers with their own accounts of what happened.
You won't find a historian with any credibility that would doubt the veracity of the Bible, because doing so would be to deny history itself...and that would be a very stupid thing for a historian to do.

@@theusher2893 No one doubts that the bible records many important events in the history of the Middle East. I am presently reading a World War II spy thriller by Alan Furst. It mentions many people and places which existed and still exist and events which took place. I know this because I can find independent corroboration from other sources. However, it is a work of fiction, which means that the events surrounding the main characters never took place except in the imagination of Furst. There is independent corroboration anywhere of any of the depictions of supernatural events described in the bible. And you hit one nail on the head, the bible is literally an amalgam of previous Greek and Roman and other earlier religious mythology. Every single book of fiction has many elements of credible verifiable reality, even Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, but that does not make them "true" as you would want us to see the bible.

What Voddie Baucham is arguing against is the philosophical belief called Scientism. Roughly, scientism is the view that the hard sciences-like chemistry, biology, physics, and astronomy-provide the ONLY genuine knowledge of reality. At the very least, this scientific knowledge is vastly superior to what we can know from any other discipline. Ethics and religion may be acceptable, but only if they are understood to be inherently subjective and regarded as private matters of opinion. According to scientism, the claim that ethical and religious conclusions can be just as factual as science, and therefore ought to be affirmed like scientific truths, may be a sign of bigotry and intolerance.
As an aside any time you begin a conversation with "YOU HAVE NO IDEA!" out of the gate you are probably gonna lose any person you are talking to to persuade them to your view.

Very simple: he is making claims, but he cannot provide evidence-and to make things worse, he will ask you to have "faith". If he had evidence for his claims, why not present them? Why faith? Faith is the excuse people give when there IS NO REASON TO BELIEVE! THEY LIE TO YOU! Anyone out there, demanding you must have faith-is a liar. And their biggest lie is that some magical being chose to make you a sinner and that you should repent. They only want to keep you from THINKING for YOURSELF!

I learned that iniquity is one who has a depraved heart and means a conscious decision to proceed without repentance, and to be a transgressor is to choose to intentionally disobey; its willful trespassing. I know true faith means obedience to God's Word and it produces fruits of righteousness. I know that I deserves God wrath but Christ took it on so I didn't have to and out of love and a grateful heart, I surrender my will to his to conform daily to his image to become a better woman, mother and friend daily. • @thebeliever5337
      @thebeliever5337 Před 6 měsíci

@@18dot7 First, it seems a basic understanding of prophecy is needed.
"Prophecy" is the noun, and "to prophesy" is the verb.
To prophesy is simply to pronounce prophecy. Prophecy, at its most fundamental meaning, is “a message from God.” Hence, to prophesy is to declare a message from God.
Let's look at the definition for each for more clarification:
      Prophecy: Noun
"a prediction; the faculty, function, or practice of prophesying."
      Prophesy: Verb
"to utter by or as if by divine inspiration; to predict with assurance or on the basis of mystic knowledge."
In short, we can describe prophecy as the message and prophesy as delivering that message.
The great prediction, which runs like a golden thread through the whole contents of the Old Testament, is that regarding the coming and work of the Messiah, the great use of prophecy was to perpetuate faith in His coming and to prepare the world for that event. But there are many subordinate and intermediate prophecies also which hold an essential place in the great chain of events that illustrate God's Sovereignty and all-wise overruling providence.
With that said, there is no question that regardless of what prophecy I provided, you will scoff at, criticize, highly doubt, and most likely end in another question or sarcastic remark.
Nevertheless, I will provide a couple, and leave you to do the research.
      Genesis 3:15
15I will put enmity between you and the woman,
      and between your offspringe and her offspring;
      he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel.”
(note: this reveals God’s redemptive plan and clearly depicts Christ defeating the enemy at the cross.)
Psalm 22 - Depicts the Crucifixion of Christ 1000 years prior to his death and during a time in which there was no such thing as crucifixion. Christ even calls out on the Cross telling all who will hear go look at the scripture, for it is fulfilled.
The Psalm speaks of the crucifixion in detail, as well as the events which unfolded during it.
These are but 2 of many prophecies in the Bible. These are not interpretations but can clearly be seen if one takes the time to understand it.
      Psalm 22
1{To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.} My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
(Note: These words are uttered by Christ on the cross and for good reason. He is telling all that will listen, go, look- it is Fulfilled.) He is pointing to Psalm 22. Why this psalm? Psalm 22 depicts the crucifixion of Christ.
However, the fascinating thing is that it was written 1000 years prior to the death of Jesus. Moreover, it depicts events during the crucifixion. Still even more compelling is that crucifixion had not been invented at the time of the prophecy.)
6But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
(note: Christ was despised by the pharisees)
14I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
(Note: This is Christ on the cross, bones disjointed. His chest weighted into his bowls due to the crucifixion )
Psalm 22:7All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
(note: this occurred 1000 years later, see Luke below)
Luke 23: 36And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
      Luke 23
34Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
36And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

This from Voddie is life changing
When it comes to history, you use the evidentiary method to look at different things such as reliability and collaboration of sources, internal and external evidence of sources, whether it is falsifiable, and whether other things are contradicting or confirming it. These are the areas in which the evidences that point to the trustworthiness of the Bible are strong. In fact, stronger than any other ancient historical event. These historical documents from the Bible go back as early as AD 120, and there are over 6,000 manuscripts or portions of manuscripts. For ancient writings, this is an impressive amount of evidence. For Aristotle’s poetics, there are only a dozen manuscripts, the closest date being over 1,000 years after the original. The best example in terms of number of sources is Homer’s Illiad, having a few hundred manuscripts, but still the earliest manuscript being written over 2,000 years after the original writing. The Bible is by far the most reliable collection of manuscripts in terms of the number of sources and how closely they date back to the originals. If the Bible can’t be trusted as an ancient document than no other ancient writing can come even close to being accepted as trustworthy.

To be chosen is to be saved but without humility, repentance and the ability to turn back from sin and turn to Jesus, you cannot be saved. It is a response to a call. It is He that chooses us, not we who choose Him. Faith is a gift from God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Sorry dear but i actually care about the truth of my beliefs so I have no use for "faith." Instead I use FACTS and EVIDENCE to determine reality.
Christianity conversely claims absolute truth in everything yet has no FACTS 😜 Your "faith" is no more reliable or valid than the faith used by followers of Zeus, Thor, Allah, Buddah, Mithrah, Dionysius or any one of a thousand other man made "Gods".

When the murder is investigated person C covers for person A. - People make exceptions for love.
Person A is in group A, and person A loves group A. In fact Group A is perfect to person A and they think it shouldn't change. Person B from group B also loves group A so much they are abandoning group B and joining group A. Person A no longer loves group A because, group A is changing now that it has B's in it. - People can create double binds for love of their groups.
Person A loves person C. Person C cheats on person A with person B. Voddie was right in the beginning when he addressed the idea of why we have faith. Proof of history would be how we have faith in Biblical history and the Bible as true. To go down that latter road is a dead end. "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." This world is not what is true. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

The historical accuracy of the bible has *ZERO* relevance to its authenticity. Even if the bible were written by mere ordinary superstitious primative tribesmen. They would still know about towns , places, people , leaders kings ect . That's the very LEAST we would expect.
Herodotus wrote about life in 500bc he spoke of real people and places does that mean his works are inspired of god ??? Of course not .
If some future archeological dig discovered the ruins of New York and the empire state building would they be justified in thinking *KING KONG* was therfore real ???? Nonsense.
The ruins of the city of Troy have been discovered, does that therefore mean that a whole pantheon of God's live on Mount Olympus?? ? 🤭
There is no archeological evidence for anything supernatural only the normal mundane stuff we find with everything else. Almost every fictional book ever written will contain references to real places and people even Harry Potter it means nothing. However if there were historical INACCURACIES (and there are lots ) that's a different story.
When was jesus born for example ? Because the historical evidence disagrees alarmingly with the bible on that for starters. Quirinius's census we know conclusively did not occur until 6 ad not 3 years before the death of herod but several years after. And yes I know there was more than one herod, I can go into detail if you like about how we know exactly which one it was and can cross reference with Mathew ect.

You speak of "Righteous judgment" but I'm rather skeptical of the god of biblical narratives ability to even comprehend the word. For when he aledgedly destroyed Soddom and Gomorrah killing EVERYONE for being "immoral" ( including babies & children ) he spared Lot and his daughters.
He discribed him as a "Righteous" & Good man But an omniscient god would know *IN ADVANCE* that Lot would immediately proceed to have drunken intimate relations with HIS OWN DAUGHTERS 🤮🤮 not once but two nights running !!!!
Are these the kind of morals we should aspire to ?? Do these people deserve to be called *"RIGHTEOUS"* and be spared when children and babies are slaughtered for being "immoral" ??
Just what was their punishment from god for this act ? Fireballs from the skies ?? Turned to a pillar of salt ??
No, perhaps execution was the punishment like when a man gathers stick on the wrong day of the week ??
Nope I remember now *NOTHING* for god obviously thought drunken intimate relations with your own daughters a misdemeanor in comparisons to the gathering of sticks. 🤮🤮

Admire Voddie hugely. He makes a really good point here.
Science has a method that he outlines.
Law has a different set of rules-we can't observe the alleged murder and don't want to repeat it. And in many jurisdictions you can't use hearsay evidence.
In History sometimes hearsay is all you have.
Asking for scientific proof for events around Jesus' life for example shows a complete lack of understanding of these different types of evidence.
Worth remembering that some 20th century scientist/philosophers-some of the Logical Positivists-claimed that you could observe one piece of metal expanding under heating, but you don't know for sure an identical piece will unless you test that one, and all others-making the whole process quite absurd.

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11 Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.
12 For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but give you opportunity to boast on our behalf, that you may have an answer for those who boast in appearance and not in heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you. 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

I'm an atheist. I'm glad that he started by discussing proof. I don't think you can prove anything outside of mathematical equations. I couldn't prove to you that I exist if i was sitting right in front of you, because I can't be certain that I exist.
That's why "I think therefore I am". My only evidence for my existence is that I can think about my experience. This is why there are brute facts that we have to grant in order to determine what's true or not true.
Scientific evidence is how I determine if anything is real or true. Evidence either supports a claim, or it doesn't support a claim. I'm in agreement that it's observable, measurable, and repeatable.
Historical accounts are the best, most reliable way to determine if it's accurate how events happened, and people behaved, or what they thought if they shared their thoughts and were honest about them. The more evidence we have that supports a truth claim the more believable it is. The more separate coobarating documentation that exists the more believable the historical claim. Geology, paleontology, astrology, and archeology are scientific, not historical. Legal evidence sucks, because even if it's solid it can be rendered inadmissable, people can lie in testimony, and a bunch of other things can happen to aquit a guilty person or convict an innocent person. When popular court cases make the media, I reserve my judgement on their innocence, unless the evidence shown is undeniable.
I believe Socrates existed, and that George Washington was president, because of the multiple separate cooberating historical accounts.
I believe that some of the Bible is historically accurate, because some of the Bible has separate cooberating accounts. The parts of the Bible that I don't believe, are the parts that don't have multiple separate (separate as in not related to the Bible) cooberating accounts. I don't believe the parts of the Bible that make claims that aren't supported by scientific evidence. The extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
