    Ahhhh...okay. That makes perfect sense! I knew there had to be a reason why you used two sheets! Thanks for explaining before I set off to make one using one sheet and didn't like the end results! :-) Keep up the FANTASTIC job!

    Is it possible to do a sliding box? Kind of like a match stick box but for small gifts or soap?

      I'm so glad you like it! Yes, all of the boxes were made using the same measurements, folds, etc., the only thing different is the cardstock. You're welcome, anytime!!! I can't wait to see the ones you make! Please feel free to share this video on your blog if you want to for reference!

    This is great. Thank you so much for showing us how. What would the dimensions be for a soap box that is 3.25x2.125x1.25? How are the measurements figured out? This was the first vid of yours I've seen. I'll def put on fb, but more importantly on google +!

    • @OrigamiTwist
      @OrigamiTwist  Před 10 lety +1

      Thank you! Yes, you could do it with one sheet of 6" x 12", but the lid would not completely cover the bottom (I did it the way I did in the video because I prefer it cover completely and the box is sturdier when made out of two pieces - which worked great for the weight of the soap). To create the box with a 6"x12" you would score at 1.5" on the long sides, just like in the video. Then score at 1.5", 5.5", 7" and 11". Fold and glue/tape as per the video (that is, the video After the two pieces have been attached to each other), making sure that the 1" end becomes the lid of the box. At this stage you will probably want to trim the sides of the top to 1" to match the front as they will be 1.5" by default. As I said, it isn't quite as sturdy and the lid doesn't cover the bottom completely, but it is doable and you would be able to get two boxes out of a 12" x 12" that way. Let me know if this is clear enough, I would also be happy to make a video.

    • @OrigamiTwist
      @OrigamiTwist  Před rokem

      As mentioned in the title of the video, this box was made with cardstock. You could use a heavy weight cardstock if you want the box to be a bit sturdier but standard cardstock that you can purchase from a craft store is what I used in the video. I hope this helps.

    Hi, thank you for the video loved it. If you would be so kind to tell me where did you get that tool you use to cut the front of the box I would really appreciate it, thanks!

    • @OrigamiTwist
      @OrigamiTwist  Před 6 lety

      Hi Stephanie! You're welcome! :) The exact tool in the video is a paper trimmer made by Fiskars that I purchased from a craft store in the states back in the very early 2000's. Unfortunately, that specific model is no longer made. However, Fiskars and other brands are always coming up with new models, so you should be able to find something similar at your local craft or office supply store (i.e. Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Joann Fabrics, Staples in the states; Spotlight, Officeworks in Australia). Most of the party plan craft companies also sell paper trimmers (Stampin' Up, Close to my Heart, etc.). I hope this is helpful and that you are able to find one that will work for you! :)
