Capcom really messed up on forgeting this series, so much potential for comic books, anime, merch, TCG and even a live action movie (if done right) but Capcom just left it to dust
Ger Her Supposedly its because the director that made this and Project Justice hasn’t been put to work on fighting games in a long time. Recently he worked on DMC5. He said that if the community really wanted another good fighting game they have to bring it up to Capcom so they know what the ppl want.
The problem with Rival Schools is that the IP rights and licenses for the soundtrack aren't those that can be retrieved or revived according to a CAPCOM statement. It's why they haven't remade the game yet.
Ah yeah, Street fighter, Breath of fire, Megaman X4, Breath of Fire 4, Marvel vs Capcom, and so many other, I wonder why capcom abandoned most of it's series....

Some were popular for a while but were just left in the past. Only Strider has had another game made a few years ago. JoJo is now made by Namco Bandai. Powerstone collection was only on PSP Project justice never ReReleased Neither did cannonspike.
Me too. I love Rival Schools a lot and I was glad my uncle educated me on playing this. I love the characters, they’re likeable. It disappoints me that Capcom never once adapted this and made it into a series.

To any fans of this game, Ono jokingly mentioned making a new rival schools game sometime in the future during a recent interview. Who knows if well ever see another.. I'd love to see this game get a reboot, love this series

i totally see credits rolling in those opening and ending sequences. if people didn't ignore this game (i mean, even UDON couldn't get a comic adaptation to sell), maybe someone could make an anime series out of it.
Andrey Kusanagi the UDON comic didn't sell because everyone expected them to use the same artist who worked on the SF comic I actually bought all the variations of the RS issues they did, the art wasn't bad but it was far from being attractive for a commercial comic
I still have some of their issues and variants, but not all because they were hard to find. The cover art and story were the only good things about it.

I almost forgot this masterpiece from my childhood ,but i SAW a Video on FB from Bloody Roar and Then remembered this Game also ❤❤ but one Game is still Missing....the one with the people transforming to fire bird ICE bird and so ....the Intro was amazing
gosh i remember selling my copy 10yrs ago and i still regret it. i was so sure i was gonna get the jp ver which had character edit mode, but i never ended up getting it so to this day i'm stuck rival schooless.
Just looking at this make me so nostalgic, i loved and still love this game, i play whenever i can (even now with better fighting games out there) i simply love the idea of school vs school of different theme against each other, i really hope that capcom will make a follow up soon :) ill buy it thats for sure..... and yeah i know im a "Fan"
GREAT GAME! i remember trying to unlock all secret endings and mini games(baseball,voleyball,football-penalty kicks) and special character! that game keep me busy for months! :) the game was sooo awesome. one of the best CAPCOM games! hopefully Rival Schools 3 will come out some day!
At first i thought this was a spoof on satreet fighter when i first saw the game, then found out later it was a Solid Fighting Game, I think this was the first time i saw the tag team ability used, I loved the extra games like baseball!! At least its now got a part to play in the Street fighter universe in the Manga. Thanx

I didn’t even know what Rival Schools was until Tatsunoko vs Capcom was a thing.
I mean they were still right, the game still got a sequel after this that did at least end the series on a high note.
I remember when Kyosuke was in Capcom vs SNK 2. His x3 was when he called on Batsu and Hinata to team up. That was so sick!
