    A tip I learned from someone who was in the testing room with me: yes it’s typical to bubble in C all the way down when you’re guessing, but ACT expects that so they’re less likely to put the possible correct answer there. So bubble in A or D when you’re guessing. You’ll have a better chance of getting the correct answer that way.

    Marh tip: the answers for all math questions are listed greatest to least, or vise versa.
    Plug and chug "C". If the answer is lower, try the least... aka "A" or "E". If it's neither then it's corresponding "B" or "D".

    • @frozenvolcano859
      @frozenvolcano859 Pƙed rokem +123

      @@ja416 yeayea-
      Question:
      3x=15. What is x?
      A) 2
      B) 3
      C) 4
      D) 5
      E) 6
      Lets pretend we didn't know the answer to this. You would first start with C. (4)
      3(4) doesn't equal 15, it equals 12.
      Now we know C is less than 15, we will now try E (6)
      3(6) also does not equal 15, it equals 18.
      So if C is less than the answer and E is more than the answer, then In-between must be answer (D) (5)
      This stradegy only works faster than the human mind if the problem is harder to figure out, for example
      (14x^2)/(5-2X)=30.5
      Also though, you could use a function on calculators like the TI-84 Plus to calculate this.
      ‱ Press the Math Button, then press the up arrow on the white arrow wheel.
      (You should see an option called Numeric Solver)
      ‱ Press enter
      2 boxes show up. The 1st box is one side of the equation, the other box is on the other side of the equation. So in reality it looks like this
      Box1 = Box2
      You can watch a video on YT that can explain it better than I can.

    I am taking the ACT tomorrow and the hardest thing for me is hearing noises around me. It especially bothers me on the reading section. I made an 18 on reading last time because I just could not focus on it.
    This time around I’m gonna take my ADHD medication + get good sleep + remember to breathe deeply so I don’t get that fast heartbeat and overwhelming anger feeling 😁
    also next time i take the ACT, i should be getting accommodations!

    Thank you so much for the genuine help! I've taken the ACT a few times by now and one of the most helpful tips is to go in very comfortable with the test itself. Being anxious or fearful during the test can significantly reduce accuracy, and fear often times comes from the unknown. So basically, get comfortable with the ACT! While in the car on the way there, it's helpful to just remind yourself: "I know what to expect and I'm going to try my best". Good luck to all the test takers out there! Praying for you guys!

    Here is my ACT story. I've taken ACT 4x and about to take it a fifth. First time, I took it in my junior year and got a 19. Second time in my junior year, I got a 20. Third time in my junior year, I got a 22, but notably, I got my reading and English up by 5-6 pts to 25 and 26 respectively. Problem is my math and science remained both at 19 for the past three tests. The last test I took though, I got a 23. English went down by one, reading went down by 4... but my math went up by 3 and science went up by 6!!! If my reading hadn't gone down and my English and reading had at least stayed the same, I would've gotten a 25, which is what I am currently aiming for. I take it in four days and my goal is between a 27-30, a 36 would be lovely, but for me as a person who struggles to take tests, it's most likely not realistic, but hey you never know. One tip Ik is that reading and science test the same skill and they shouldn't be but at max 1 pts apart. I still haven't gotten there but hopefully soon! Wish me luck and I'll be back with my new score soon :)

    Thank you for the help! Not aiming for a 36, just a 29 or 25 for tuition purposes, but some of your tips helped a lot. I struggle most on the math and English portion. Let’s see what I get tommorow! And also, I don’t know if this is the case for anyone else, but the sleep all night rule is actually the complete opposite for me. I feel like I get in the right mindset with just 5 or less hours of sleep if I have adrenaline from something like a big test. And my short term works wonders when I’m in the zone, so even tho I shouldn’t, I feel like I get the most done last minute. Don’t follow my example kids lol, I’ve just got adhd.

    Although I don't have to take the test this year, this video was *really* helpful!
    Honestly, the English and (most) of the Math questions are pretty easy, and being an IB student I'm used to data being provided and being asked to analyze it + the ACT seems a little bit more fun compared to the SAT lol.
    I'd like to add that studying the night before (in most cases) does very little to actually improve how you do on a test, especially for skill-based questions. You don't just develop that skill the day before, at least in my personal experience.
    Good video!

    Taking mine in 2 days. My overall goal is to get my score to at least 32. Although I've done a lot of studying and practice I don't expect to do great on this one. I'm prepared to completely fail and I'm fine with that. I'm seeing this first one as a trial run for me, through this I will learn how to A. Pace myself, and B. Learn how to prepare better. I plan on taking it as many times as I need to until I meet my goal.
    That's what's great about this test. You can take it as many times as you would like and then choose what test to show the colleges you're applying to. You just have to opt out of the program that automatically sends the scores to them. Knowing that has caused me to be a lot less nervous, which in turn will hopefully help me during my future ACT's.

    I have actually improved my English score the most. My brain is geared more toward English than towards math or science, so I figured I would not have to study too hard on my reading/English. On my first test, I learned I do not know what I’m doing for math(which I expected and raised my score enough to get a 29 or a 30), I know enough science, I know how to read(only missed one on my last practice test!!!), and I forgot how to write apparently. A 27 in English shocked me the first time. By using this rule, I got it up to a 33. The simplest answer is usually the right answer. The ACT people don’t like convoluted, hard to understand answers, they just want you to think they like the fancy sentences. But when I actually looked at the sentences they gave, most of them are repetitive, redundant, and just don’t make sense. I’ve practiced the English section 5 times now, and every time I was tempted to put the fancy answer, I repeated my rule and circled the simple answer. Now I’m only missing about 5 questions per test(mainly because I do not and probably never will understand plural possessives).
