VIDEO-In this Free video we show you the inside of a modern day Harley Davidson primary drive. We show you how the starter works and engages with the starter ring gear, thus starting the motorcycle. We took footage directly from our very popular Harley Davidson Starter & Starter Clutch Repair Video! www.lawabidingbiker.com/harley... - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Another great video from the LAB team. It's nice to see how the starter actually engages.
+Mark Arnold Thanks Mark for your ongoing support! U da man
What are your thoughts about using small diameter hi collar split lock washers under the cap screws on Harley Davidson Motorcycles to stop them from working loose?
I've got an 02 wide glide that keeps sheering the teeth off the ring gear and pinion gear. what could possibly be causing it to keep doing this.
Thanks for another clear and concise video. your videos take away the fear of having67
You're lost welcome Patrick. I'm glad you liked the video.

Hay Ryan, my 07 road glide makes a horrible noise on start up and won't start. Any idea's and videos

Why did it go forwards and backwards? Thanks
I replaced my entire starter and it still makes the spinning noise similar to the one at the start of this video. Any suggestions?
You just saved me draining my chainchase floorboard removal... On my 07 Electra Glide. I thought outer had to come off, at least for thrust washer like in shovels. Thanks! P.S. I'm getting a click only until I"TAP" solenoid with a screwdriver. Battery is full and load tested. Must be solenoid, yes? Thx bro'
Man im in the same boat.. I think my starter clutch is going bad and I’ve been searching for hours for a clear answer if I need to remove my primary cover or if I can just pull the starter and replace the starter clutch.
so why would I be getting grinding sometimes hen i hit my starter?
Did I just miss a Starter Clutch R&R ? Worried Shit goes flyin. Looking for some video. Brushes make me uneasy. Thks
Hey , need some tips , just change the clutch , that make me a New problème, bendix always touching the flywheel , dont want to pops in ??
I remove primary covert for better view , and i see the bendix is touching and spinning on flywheel ... wath is my problème ?
My 07 makes a horrible grinding noise during hot start sometimes any suggestions
I got a 07 Softail Customs doing the same thing that you ever get any answers on the grinding noise on a hot start
Did you get a fix for the grinding? Mine on 09 Fatbob does that sporadically. Thx!
@@JoshSanders1 I put in a drag specialty gear and did away with the compensator also new tensioner never had a problem since
I have a 2011 road glide, I do not have to remove the primary cover to remove the starter ???
No
I have a problem with my starter, everything engages but the starter ring gear doesnt move. It makes the same noise when solenoid hits like in the video but it wont crank the motor. Any ideas?
Great video
Sounds like maybe a starter clutch. Here is a video we have on replacing your starter clutch. gumroad.com/l/harleystarter
Ryan Urlacher
Hello Ryan the compensator went out of my 13 Glide with only 17,000 miles.
The solenoid is engaging the drive but the starter motor is not turning the drive gear...possible causes are the starter motor is not getting voltage through the solenoid when it engages, starter motor,or engine locked up
Ron DUNNING I replaced jack shafts spring and coupling on 2005 road king but works in termination it spins but doesn't turn out error everything seems to be coming apart at starter to jack shafts coupling I made sure it was put in with keeper towards clutch side what would cause it to not stay engaged
Question: I have a 2014 Fat Boy with the 103 engine. Over this winter I had SE 585 Cams put in, but now it is harder to start. Does that make sense? It still starts no problem but it sounds like it is struggling to turn over? Any ideas?
phil giordano.
phil giordano compression releases. you can get aftermarket ones that you flip open and closed by hand, it'll save you a few starters too.
Thanks 😃
No problem 😊

thoughtful post🇨🇦🐢
Just go belt driven BDL or Primo that’ll fix all the hot start issues embarrassing
No need to remove oil tank.. just sayin
That's for another video. Search this channel
First off, it's not called a "solenoid", it's called a "pinion gear"
Second off, Calling it a " ring gear" is the appropriate terminology.
It's actually necessary, it's what the object is called, please, stop being condescending to your buddy, he's just trying to help you.
