He sure did. I think there's a bit more to the story than what Slash says. I'm sure he was there to settle a lawsuit like he says, but it's quite possible they kicked the tires on the reunion idea. Especially considering the fact that he wasn't too happy with VR at the time. Given all the info from this video, I could see a scenario where Axl proposed a deal similar to what's discussed in this video. It would've been a win win for him.

All GNR members were millionaires when they left the band to form other bands or do other projects. They did everything else for fun and to show that they are doing something. The only solid thing was the reunion in 2016 followed by the ongoing tour for the past seven years. Every member gets paid $ 4 million dollars per show. This made them "put their differences aside." GNR was their money making in the 1980s through the 90s and then again from 2016 forward. Franchise.

I loved VR for me the 2 albums were the real follow up from the UYI albums, not whatever Axl was doing. If Axl wanted to do his own thing, why didn't he just do it as a solo or side project & get back to the boys later, rather than takeover the whole thing. Being a wannabe hard rock/metal singer in my youth, I usually follow the vocalist but the greatest magic only comes with a great guitarist(s) & rhythm section. Just like Axl was better with Slash & co., so was Scott. I also think Chris Cornell was able to make his best magic (outside of Soundgarden) with the RATM boys in Audioslave. That was awesome too.

For sure--but it shows what an impact a band like G n' R had that 10 years, 20 years, coming up on 30 years, PEOPLE WOULD STILL CARE! There's a certain magic in real music--no one can really express what it is..."lightning in a bottle" they often say. That's what G n' R was. And yeah, there were lineup changes, but they kept the magic going a little longer. Matt contributed to that. Granted, Axl's business sense may have served the band well in terms of becoming as successful as they did (he is super smart and won't let himself or the band he's a part of get taken advantage of), but Slash definitely has a more like-able personality. That's why they make such a great duo, imo...it's like a frickin' marriage.

Exactly...I am not a fan of alcohol and never have been...but I love xanax. They are she same as far as being the only 2 substances that the withdrawal from could potentially kill you...so maybe they have the same bio effect in your brain...but as far as feeling the same no they do not. Not for me personally at all

@@Danisobrino1992 I wouldn't say incredible, was good though. He was good with GnR the first year or so of the tour, and honestly he shocked the hell out of me with ACDC. Knowing Axl, I figured total trainwreck, but he knocked it out of the park. He definitely gave his best to Angus though for sure.

Lol Axl about broke up Velvet Revolver. That’s funny considering a VR show was way more entertaining than any of the mediocre crap Axl n the other guys were doing at that time. Nowadays you couldn’t pay me to go see Gn’r live lol it’d be like seeing a pretty good cover band fronted by Donald Trump’s stuck in the 80’s brother 🤣

@Joel Veedler I agree! It started with Adler n after Izzy they just lost that Rock n Roll grit n danger that they once perpetrated. Like when Matt Sorum once said about all the stage dancers n piano he was like damn I thought I joined a rock band. When he voiced it he was ax’d by Axl “diva” Rose
