I just lost my best friend, Poncho. He was 18 +5 mos. He will always be in my heart till I'm gone and hopefully into eternity. Still have Mikko who is now 17. Mostly blind and deaf. Still very happy and loves to romp around. How blessed I am to have been gifted these wonderful animals in my life.
I feel your pain, brother. My wife and I just put our Fergie down yesterday 😢 Havas are such cute doggies. We were truly blessed to have had her in our life ♥️
Most dogs cost more per year for maintenance. Grooming alone costs more than you mentioned. I just got my second Havanese and I’m in love with this breed!
My white male Havanese, named Finn, is 9 and he's the best dog! I've had him since 4 mo's. So loving and playful! Easy to potty train. He's kennel trained, but I'm retired so he just goes an naps in there when he wants. Havanese are smart. They do not like to be left alone. Truly Velcro dogs. Mine is food possessive around other dogs.. a negative. Wonderful with my 3 yr old grandchild! He steals my socks and buries them outside! If I catch him with one in his mouth, I tell him he can't have that and he puts it gently down. If he gets ahold of Kleenex he will NOT put it down. He absolutely loves to run after a squeaky toy. I love him completely!! He doesn't bark at other dogs at all when we take walks. Havanese are THE BEST!
Love ❤Havanese are best for training very smart & loyal to their owners. I have had one for 11 yrs he is my baby boy , he ❤️ his mom & Dad Blessing to ALl. 8:35 Always Havanese! Pat Wilgus
I have one named Jake. I got him at 2 months old and he's now 18 months. I love, love, love my little man! He's playful, smart, funny and very loving. I'm a senior and I couldn't ask for a better companion or best buddy!
Both are mostly deaf. Oldest is on anti seizure medication. Oldest is showing some signs of early kidney problems but to be expected at his age. Still happy go lucky dogs . The best little dogs.
My Havanese is short haired. This is the easiest, most gentle dog I've ever seen. She has never showed the first sign of aggression whatsoever. She'd let you eat her and never whimper! Totally passive nature which is what I wanted around my new born granddaughter.

Mr. Cooper is about to turn 4 years old. He’s the best little dog. I’ve had him when he was a newborn puppy. He loves being around my dad since my dad always feeds him and always sits near our window and couch to scape out the front of intruders or guests. Big barker when someone comes home or someone arrives. He has a morning routine of scratching my door and sleeping with me before I wake up🤣 most beautiful cute little dog ever and he’s white with black spots.
My little girl loves to ride around the house pushed in her stroller - after she had been sick and was on the mend, she would lead me around the house using the same path, walking …stopping, looking back, to see if I was coming…and continue - night after night. She also does this when she wants to go to bed - she looks back at me, waiting for me to follow her to her kennel and tuck her in bed. Oh, so sweet! 💕
I always thought my pups (Charles) was a shitzu mixed haha this description is quite accurate. He’s my first dog and I was always amazed how smart and responsive this little guy was truly a blessing for my family ❤️
my wife says. it the best dog she's ever had. Bentley is just an awesome dog. everyone says the male is suppose to be 14 lbs, 11 inches tall. My dog is about 12 inches and 20 lbs. Bentley's gait is more like a prance, especially when, Bentley leaves the groomer.
My little lady is so much fun .. and I love her soo much . She just turned 6 1/2 months . She’s black with beautiful white markings . My vet is great and he told me he won’t spay her until she 9 months old .. there have been changes . He said they have found that if the the dog goes through their first heat ... it’s medically beneficial, and beneficial for their joints ... so, it’s worked out .. for us .. I highly recommend this breed of dog .. they are very trainable .. and intelligent, Very loving .. not barkers , only when they deem it necessary.. They are very active , love to play fetch. Mine looks directly in my eyes for approval and are definitely a lap dog .. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@trawlins396 She’s not aggressive, but she is very much a mommies girls.. when she sees neighbors she gets crazy ,, she’s so social .. , but she’s never been aggressive ..
I have little mister Winston Furchill, he’s almost 6 months old and incredibly smart. He was the one who began playing fetch and giving me the thing to throw for him to get. I wrapped him all up totally in a blanket and made it hard for him to get out just to see how smart he is. He got out of it in 1 minute. He’s gorgeous and looks like a brown teddy bear. He’s slim trim and is so much fun. I cannot put his leash on him he runs and hides, but if he gives me the leash he’s ready to go for his potty walks. I buy him puzzle games with tiny treats in them and it takes him mere seconds to figure them out.
Never have liked small dogs.. until my best friend Eddie came into my life. I found a dirty matted haired little white dog. While trying to find his owner my girlfriend at the time spilled a beer, I called the dogs over to lick it up. But when the little white dog smelled the beer he instantly ran to the corner started shaking and urinating on himself. That sealed the deal. I would no longer be trying to find his owner and now he is my dog. I do not drink alcohol so he will never have to smell beer again. I ended up getting him groomed micro chipped vaccinated and registered. He has so far been the best dog I’ve ever had and I love him more than anything in the world. I take him everywhere I go besides work and he never is on a leash. He will never runoff and always stays next to my side off leash. I just wish that he like to play with toys and balls but instead all he wants is me to be holding him or touching him and he is happy. Is it by far the best breed dog ever.
My little guy (Havanese) named Slippers fits this video’s description to a tea! He is my little shadow and he’s such a clown 🤡 lol He’s such a good boy and great for my mental health. ❤️😍🥰
I'm hoping one will be great for my mental health. I've been so down. I'm definitely getting a Havanese. 😊 I'm super hopeful and excited! I want a cuddler. ❤️
I don’t vaccinate dogs because I had three who when they were vaccinated were terribly sick and I won’t do that to Winston. He’s pure health and on a raw diet
Ahem, $200-$300 a year?! Uh, no. I spend easily $50 a month on quality food and treats, alone, for my Havi. I invested about $600 in grooming equipment and supplies to do my own grooming but will go to groomer, occasionally. Groom and tip, about $40, have a great groomer! I know others charge a lot more. Vet bills just for neutering and puppy plan that included shots and meds exceeded $300. Then there's leashes, harnesses, tags, and other equipment like carriers and I invested in a stroller which has been so handy on hot days, long walks and getting him into place he wouldn't readily be able to enter. The cost of chipping if lost, life preserver, foul weather gear, as all their hair is for insulation from heat, not cold. They are a tropical breed , thus sensitive to cold. Realistically, all total, per year, provided no sickness or accidents $700-$1000 a year. So well worth it for what they give in return...they're priceless in that respect! And yes, my profile pic is him!
$200 to $300 a year?.... um my havanese grooming cost $70 every month and her vaccinations are about $100 to $200 a year lol maybe I need to find a different groomer
My groomer charges $35 for a full groom, and I go about every 3 months. I know prices vary from place to place, but $70 seems high for a small dog. Glad I don't have to pay $70 !
I dropped $170 at the feed / pet store and of course he always gets looks being the cutest puppy around. He's mistaken for a Shi Tzu frequently . The cashier asked what kind of pup he was as I was paying my bill, I replied "Spoiled". In my defense, a lot of the $170 was for things that were "buy once", like a life jacket, leashes, harnesses, etc...
Stop being lazy...treat your dog right....brush your dog and bathe them and once every 3 to 4 months is more than enough with a groomer. I only pay maximum of $40 for full groom....bath , nails, trim etc.
My Havanese is 7 and is starting to bark a whole lot and also growl at my nieces and nephews who are 9 and 10. I adopted him at age 5 due to his original owner passing away. Has anyone else had any issues with aggression? 😩🤦🏽♀️
After making sure he is getting enough 'daily attention' (walks, grooming, sitting on your lap, playing in the yard) I would consider 'dog training' lessons as it sounds like he is trying to be dominant in the home (too many treats perhaps?). Growling at your nieces and nephews is not a good sign (particularly for a Bichon Havanais), there is also (in addition to dog training / domination issues) also the possibility that there is a medical problem such as eye problems, tooth pain, or persistent injury, so perhaps a quick visit to the vet is in order? Best of luck!
I immediately wonder if he is sick or in pain... hope you took him to a vet! A sudden behavioral change after you have him two years doesn't suggest this is a personality issue.
I have a 3-year-old female named Chica. While visiting my niece, I caught her grandchildren teasing her when she was out of my sight. She barked and growled at them and finally chased and nipped at them - so out of character! She hated being around kids after that and I was afraid she would bite one of them! Now I am constantly working on socializing her with quiet, well-behaved kids and she’s doing much, much better. For a sudden behavior change, I’d start by keeping a close eye on the kids just to make sure they are behaving appropriately.
