With many of Bob Dylan's songs, you have to listen to them many times before trying to interpret them. And even then, many people disagree in their lyrical interpretations. This song is from 2020. You might want to also check out the song Highlands from 1997. I think they are somewhat similar in what they are trying to say. Great reaction. I’d never try to pin a meaning on Dylan songs like this, just feel it ~ Key West is the last island in a chain of islands off the southern tip of Florida, end of the road for many dreams, schemes & getaways, a lot of American beauty & ugliness. I guess it has a special haunting beauty now, as it will soon disappear beneath the ocean.
Key West is at the tip of Florida in the US. It used to be a great place to go hang out, and for many, disappear from the mainland. Far back in history, it was known for smugglers and pirates who could go there and not be bothered. The weather there is beautiful and many people visit to party and vacation. I think it went downhill when cruise ships began stopping there.

The marrying a prostitution comment has a spiritual undertone, Bob Dylan was Jewish, at 12 he had his barmitxvah, He later turned Christian. I’m not going to criticize the Jewish faith but I think you can figure out what he meant
Dylan is a Very Jewish Soul....a beautiful thing.
Dylan.has always been Jewish and he also has been Christian since 1978. Judaism and Christianity are the same. The only difference is that Judaism does not accept the idea that Jesus was the Messiah. The Messiah has yet to come!
