Hi, Can I use this to apply polyurethane varnish? Also if yes, what do I need to clean the sprayer after using with polyurethane varnish?
Hi Michael,
Yes, TM-71 works with polyurethane varnish.
(you could use with small size spray tip sets, 1.0mm, 1.3mm or 1.5mm)
To extend product life, please always clean the sprayer after using.
►► Tips for choosing cleaning solution:
Clean with the thinner which is suitable to thin the paint you're using.
For example, water-based paint is usually thinned by water, so sprayer can be cleaned by water; Oil-based paint is thinned by solvent so use solvent to clean the sprayer. :)

The thinner to use oil-based polyurethane varnish is mineral spirits (White spirit).
So you could use it to clean the sprayer.
Please UNPLUG the sprayer as mineral spirits are flammable materials.
You could dip the cleaning brush in the mineral spirits, and brush the spray tip, nozzle area(paint outlet), paint tube, then wipe all parts and surface of the sprayer by cloth with mineral spirits.

Here are steps for spraying lacquer:
** Put on a respirator before you begin working with lacquer or lacquer thinner**
1. Fill the container of TM-71 about half full with fresh lacquer.
2. Hold the sprayer about 6 inches from a test surface and spray a coat of material. An uneven spray pattern, sputtering gun or grainy feel to the surface after the lacquer dries are all signs that the lacquer should be thinned.
3. Pour in about 1 or 2 ounces of thinner. If a particular type of thinner is recommended on the lacquer container, use that thinner. Otherwise, use generic lacquer thinner.
4. Stir the mixture in the cup for about 10 seconds with a stir stick.
5. Spray the surface again to test the pattern and check the finish. If you have added enough thinner, the pattern will be even and full and the surface smooth and free of bumps. If the lacquer isn't thin enough, add another ounce of thinner.
6. Add more lacquer to the mixture if the finish runs or separates.
When the consistency is optimal, the finish will level smoothly to a glass-like consistency before it dries.

The cleaning way is same as spraying polyurethane varnish.
Clean the sprayer with the thinner which is recommended on the lacquer container or generic lacquer thinner.

1. UNPLUG the sprayer
2. Fill 1/4 lacquer thinner in paint container of TM-71.
3. Plug in the sprayer
4. Spray toward the recycling bucket until paint inside the circuit is fully clean.
5. Unplug the sprayer and discard the remaining lacquer thinner.
6. Disassemble air-cap, check valve, paint tube, spray tip, etc.
7. Dip the cleaning brush in the lacquer thinner and brush each component, and wipe all parts and surface of the sprayer by cloth with lacquer thinner.

Hi, for kitchen cabinet doors, we recommend you to use 1.5mm spray tip & 1.5mm needle tip and black air cap.

Hello, I'm about to purchase, great reviews..does it work with chalk, latex paint and varnish? What paint won't it work with? I upscale furniture.

Yes, this paint spray works with chalk, latex paint, and varnish.
▸ Recommended spray tip set size:
1.5mm or 2.0mm for chalk paint
2.5mm for latex paint
1.0 or 1.5mm for varnish
◎ spray tip might get clog if you spray high viscosity paint with small size spray tip set.
TM-71 cannot work with
1. Paint includes sediment (grit, iron filings, etc.), the spray tip will get clog.
2. Extremely thick paint. (paint is not flowing liquid, ex: cement)
Paint should be at least liquid.
**Flexible cement is flowing liquid, so TM-71 works with it after thinning.
And flexible cement is high viscosity paint so we recommend to use the largest size 4.0mm spray tip set.**
if you have seen people successfully work with that paint by other sprayers, then TM-71 works with them.
It would be great if you can have paint store to introduce you paint which is suitable for spraying, and ask for the thinning guidelines, because materials differ from brand to brand.
Before starting your project, please spray on a discard cardboard and turn the volume control knob from - toward + and notice how the spray pattern changes.
Adjust it until you get the desired spray pattern.

你好，影片中白色和粉紅色的是噴水泥漆，用2.5mm的噴嘴＆針頭，
木頭是噴透明漆，是用小尺寸的噴嘴＆針頭1.0mm。
