It varies from unit to unit. Some receive 1908 equipment quite quickly, others retain the 1903 much longer. After leaving France quite a few Indian units receive 1914 Pattern. Many British Infantry units continue using elements of the 1903 equipment (belt, bayonet frog and supplementary pouches) well into the 1930s for Guard Mounting.
@@GreatWarHuts Fantastic thank you kindly. After the war its quite common to see colonial police forces like the British Palestine Police being equipped with the 1903 quipment.
Another rare and very interesting piece from the collection, thanks Taff.
Our pleasure, Andy 😊👍🏻
Fascinating
Thank you very much, Bobbie 😊
One of the best yet, fantastic. How they coped in that first winter 1914/15 is beyond me.!
Thanks, Rick.
Absolutely. It’s a miracle they didn’t all freeze to death.
When dose the Indian army stop useing the 1903 equipment?

@@WWIIUK Yes indeed. For infantry equipment which was pretty much obsolete on its introduction it certainly had a long life!
