You know, honestly, that's all fine. Single young-mid 20s chic? Hey go for it. Sparse, "I didn't have time or can't put in the effort to decorate?" You do you; call it "minimalism," even. A table or two that obviously is the drop table for odds and ends and papers and other random things - maybe a chair or bedroom corner that collects clothes? Hey, we all have a space like that - blame gravity.
Just *clean that shit up*, for god's sake.
It's when you have surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom, in particular, that are so covered with junk / old dishes / food / products that you can't wipe a paper towel over them (and can see that it hasn't been done in weeks or more), that you have me slowly backing away and shaking my head.
It's just a certain ick level for me. No thanks. Deliver the, "ahhh... I'm not really prepared for guests," line and suggest we go hang out in public or my place instead.
That said, bless Connor for his honesty lol. My eyes were wide and my head was shaking during his old apt tour. I was amused from the genkan - the shoe placement and just right amount of random coats and clothes and things looked like a movie set where someone is intentionally trying to make a space look haphazard. 10/10 execution to him for that.

I experienced rejection in Korea for being a foreigner. Luckily my real estate lady found an identical apartment 2 floors above it within a day and that is where I live now. Being able to speak enough Korean to communicate with the real estate lady helped.

It took us 2 months to find a house in Japan that fit our family (2 adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs). We looked at so many different places that had an insane variety. The Japanese will build a house anywhere in any shape that fits the space that is available. Most of the time the layout makes no sense, and parking is usually a pia, and if you have more than one car it's even harder. After we finally found a place that we liked, we had to negotiate the price and then to move in we had to pay $13,000. Also, believe it or not, a lot of Japanese are r a c i s t and refuse to rent to foreigners of any kind (as stated in the video), a lot of them also hate half Japanese because they feel they aren't good enough. With all this said, I still like it here and am glad we are here.
Yes and no, I mean, look at the London rn, whereas there is almost no ppl left who represents British peeps. So I think it's a good thing, that Japan keeps being traditional and strict

I'm a filipina and the first problems we encounter apartment hunting is because we are gaijin (foreigners) the racism specially on the older people and rural places are worse than in the cities.
Lemme get this straight:
1. You pay key money (2 months rent, NOT deposit you don't get it back) to make sure the landlord will be covered if you disappear
2. You pay a guarantor company insurance money to cover your rent if you disappear
3. You still won't get apartments as a foreigner because they're afraid you'll disappear
4. You can cancel your contract and just move anytime anyway??????????????

It's funny that a Bidet toilet is not a luxury in Japan, but an Oven and a Dishwasher are.
I guess bidets are pretty normal in most parts of Asia cause it's just the way things go as far as hygiene. Ovens are a luxury because it consumes a lot of gas/electricity, plus they're hella expensive. Like 10-20x more expensive than a normal stove. Same with dishwashers, you pay a lot for them and they consume electricity. It's just cheaper to wash everything in the sink 😆
@@AnonymousGentooman you have a point there, in the long it could be cheaper if the machine is used efficiently. But there is still the original cost of the dishwasher to factor in, not many people would be willing or have the means to pay for one outright, that's why it's considered a luxury for us 😊
An oven and a dishwasher take up a lot of floor space and space is at a premium. A bidet toilet takes up the same space as a regular toilet.

I just commented this as well, lol. I have a brother I room with (only for 19 more days, whoo!) who treats the majority of the house as his closet. We're about to split homes and both of us are moving and I'm super excited to get to finally be the only one living in my own place. It means being the only one to clean but the only one messing things up as well and I'm pretty methodical with my actions so as to avoid making messes. To have a house that's clean all the time...it's finally within reach 😂
