I just love the Chaal. I live in an area where there are a few Indian weddings and I'll never forget waking up to this at 7.30 on a Saturday morning. There's nothing quite like it. The timps come close.
Random question but is there a big difference in the sound quality of dhols made by sheesham and those made by mango wood? Which one is the most common also? Thanks in advance
kuljyot singh ruprai I know this may sound really annoying but practice! The more you play, the better you will get and your strength will increase. Try to play for at least 30 minutes a day and you will see improvements within the first 2 weeks!
Ok grt !! Thnx for the advice n ur videos r amazing !! I thought hw wld i learn to play !! But ur videos r amazing !! Thnx a ton !! Keep up the good work!!
Hi Taran, do you always release tension in the dhol (on the bass side) once you've finished playing for the day? I'm looking to practice the dhol every day or two, and am wondering if I should leave the dhol tight or release the rings for the bass side after I've finished playing for the day and retighten it every time I play again. What do you do?
Thanks for the video. But I don't get the double beat part because music is so loud, you are not audible and I am too dumb to understand just by watching your hands move. You need to explain in words what you are doing but it's inaudible.
When you play the bass side, I see you're pointing the dugga down - are you making contact with the whole curve to point bit? or does the only thing that hit is the edge of the curved part?
We live in an Asian area and discovered these drums with all of the amazing weddings they have here. This bear is the best. 2.06 Brilliant 👏

where do u get the dhol from

+DoubleOh9 the curved point shouldn’t hit the dagga skin. It should be the whole side of the dagga - that way it won’t rip
Thanks bro, liked and subscribed for your speedy reply! Cheers !
Can you do another video
