I´ve had depression in my teenage. I always said that metal music saved my life, and this is one of that bands who supported my mental health. Now I have 35, and Im starting a Metal Band, to return to the metal family all that they gived to me. Love for everyone.

Awesome video. Oddly reassuring to know that someone I looked up to growing up deals with some of the same depression/anxiety issues I have.
And man, what a nostalgia trip, The Impossibility of Reason was the album that got my friends and I in to "real metal" back in high school. I must have watched that Dehumanizing Process DVD a couple dozen times.
PS: Please make "Stick a Knife in Your Enemy" in to a real song. :)

Honestly, Chimairas music now matter how brutal or dark it was saved my life. As a person who also struggles w depression and mental health. Something about the songwriting and music that Mark wrote for chimaira was a breath of fresh air. Especially after my mom committed suicide at 39 when I was 13, 2 yrs after the incident, perhaps one of the greatest metal albums ever comes out. The Impossibility of Reason. Lol as a teen struggling w mental health issues and going to therapy at the time. Looking at the lyrics, the blasting drums and riffs what stood out the most was how much Mark Hunter inspired me thru the music. Granted I can only imagine how he's gone thru yrs of hard tours, traveling, band changes etc plus whatever in his past life. I can just imagine how much of a toll it took on the guy. Honestly, I feel blessed I got to see them in 2003, 2007 and 2009. I'm glad to see he's doing well health wise and glad he's got a new passion to express while calming his mental health issues. Mark Hunter, a God and genius in metal. Thank you for some badass yrs and badass music

Chimaira got me back into heavy music after a long hiatus due to the direction metal went in the late 90’s-early 2k’s. And every record they followed up with delivered more and more each time. Can't go a day without blasting a fucking classic from these bad mothafuckas

I remember being at Ozzfest 2003 in Raleigh NC and seeing these guys. Had never heard of them at the time.
I was at the second stage and they were doing the metal moses part the crowd sea to 'Pure Hatred' I believe. I had just come back from the beer tent with a fresh 7 dollar cup, and I'm at the back of the crowd mind you when it kicks off.
It starts up and I immediately get pushed by someone behind me, throwing me forward into a guy who was already down but in the process of getting back up. So I'm hopping over this guy trying not to spill my beer, and as hes getting up he flips me while Im hopping over him. Totally accidental on his part. This was all in a matter of seconds. I'm on the ground coming to while there's total chaos around me and the first thing I did was look to see if I still had beer, and somehow, not sure how, I still had three quarters of a cup. Couldn't believe it !!
Anyways, that was my first encounter with Chimaira. Loved them ever since.
That was the biggest mosh pit I had ever witnessed at an Ozzfest, which was my fifth one. Good times...

    Great and deep documentary.
I known Mark Hunter for many years and loved chimera for many years. And around the time 2003 and 2004, partying and drinking HUGE amounts of alcohol with Chimera was outstanding.
Chimera are one of the greatest bands ever, they are like if you take the best elements of slipknot and mix it with the best elements of morbid angel, you get chimera, they are death metal with a nu metal feel. Very interesting indeed. And amazing musicians.
I can see where a lot of the mental illness comes from, and trying your hardest to get off alcohol is the hardest thing in the world. And that in itself is a life killer.
But I can see people still love this band as I still do as well. And it is awesome Mark Hunter found another thing he can get himself into. And make amazing photos.
I hope chimera get back together as the original line up and have one more go at the world of metal.
Because at one point. THIS WAS THE FUCKING BAND

The band broke down because Mark choose to continue with 5 different members, not cause the music business broke down. When you come to a certain level it isn´t the music coming first. You still hear of bands like Lamb Of God, KIllswitched Engage and sucky bands that cannot be compared to Chimaira, but they had/have people who understood/understands the business better. It seems like you guys just didn´t had the tools for it at the end. And that´s a shame because you´re in the big league, especially at my place along with Slayer and Metallica, because you sounded unique!
Sorry, I´m drunk, but still smart.
