I don't know why phone and cameras can make us forget about our previous life when there is a disaster instead of us to run for our life we will be busy taking pictures and videos why?
We as humans need to understand that NATURE is a force not to be played with. This is HER way of reacting to what's being done to HER. She was here before us and will always BE!
I feel so sorry for the men and women who worked on this project and saw it crumble in an instant. You could feel the disappointment of the men watching the flood happen.
They installed a spillway by stacking the dirt up Loosely and waiting for the high waters to come down from the mountains washed away all of the dirt without meeting people to do the job great project

I saw this video a while ago but I didn’t realize how close the river was to the bottom of the suspension bridge down stream. That’s crazy. And this river looks very deep with a massive volume of flow. Like the Colorado river in the Grand Canyon on a MUUUUUCH larger scale. I mean that construction zone it breached was what 40-50ft deep???
Yall should see what the Missouri River looks like when it floods in Nebraska. It's so intense when you see rivers like these surging from too much rain.
It was of 2013 when India faced most deadliest flash flood in the state of Uttrakhand in Himalayas which killed many that we don't have proper records.
Still gets me why they never used those square-corrugated steel panels driven into the ground to prevent this sort of thing from happening. This has been common knowledge since the Roman times (and probably before that).
It felt nice to hear the cameraman feeling sorry for what happened. Even felt sorry for a bird I guess. And it felt really bad to hear some people whistling.
Whistling is the universal danger signal, recognized in all countries. It's easy to do and the sound carries a long way. These people are not celebrating, they are warning anyone within earshot that the earthen dam has failed.
It's a shame this happened and all that work wasted. When you are dealing with a very large powerful river like this and then heavy rain or mountain runoff swells it even bigger, any country's chances of success are questionable. This was a catastrophe, these men are bumming, a lot of work to do over, when the water comes down. They deserve some respect for trying to control this massive river. I'm sure the dirt dam was temporary until the cement portion was built. Terrible letdown for these people. Peace

guess these guys never thought of using a sheet pile coffer dam... they really thought the dirt would hold that river back at the point where it turns....
Everyone are blaming the engineers, but I don't think anyone was remotely expecting such a big flood on the way. It is a natural disaster than a negligent disaster. And to all the misguided people this not because of china, this is due to the Kedarnath floods and landslides happened on 2013
is it not the engineers responsibility to understand and expect the worst possible scenario up AND down stream? That being said you are right, its the neglecting government putting the citizens and project itself in danger before profit. The result of such carelessness is spending more money due to your greed, have fun fixing your mistake! A REAL coffer damn would have held back and redirected the river to the desired direction no matter the flooding.
@@JosephVeee engineers try hard to design and estimate the maximum runoff but the equation developed by man are not always holds true for natural phenomena like this. Well, as an American, I can tell you that our history is flecked with hundreds of just as stupid engineering mistakes.
