you can use a plant pot on its side as a cheap hide too!
Ya know thats actually a pretty good idea, i might try it out tbh
do you have anymore ideas that are cheap🙁
My dad and I made a huge 8 x 4 ft enclosure for my tortoise, i has like wood all around, doors, heaters and all that
How. Much was it??
@@wyattbare2286
We only made walls, and a door
The doors had metal wire's keeping animals out
We also had a lot of scrap wood from cutting.
I'd say around 100 dollars
the size of the enclosure you made is nearly half the size of my apartment
U got like a Instagram or twitter or something? I wanna see it!
@@alanmusa7143 i can discord u it
If you put the half roof to the top of the box, you can increase the humidity, which is important for the development of the tortoise shell! :) On the left side the roof, the right side the lights!
Awesome idea with the mulch and the top soil. I use that stuff all the time and didnt know I could use it for my torti. Way cheaper than pet shop bedding. The plastic bin is awesome too, very spacious which is nice.
Can you tell me the brand of mulch and top soil you use please
You might want to switch out your hide spot location. The tortoise can climb over it and fall out. I would put it in the middle, surrounded by the plants. I would corner the water and feed dish so that the tortoise can walk around the enclosure.
Exactly and they need to be outside not in a flat
@@tiffanybarba1025 Yeah weather permitting! They can most certainly do well indoors
@@ashleyinked4637 no
Bruh y’all need to chill out at least he upgraded to a way bigger and nicer enclosure. Props to him!!!
Late but people love to complain
Love it 🥰
Good job on the video. Thank you for the info.
awesome setup
fire video mannn
This is helpful thank you ☺️
Love your tortoise
Clean asf bro , but you definitely need that uvb light closer to his crib
looks like you’re really passionate about them! we also have a tortoise. he lives in a basin and in the tub. :) kids are havin’ fun though the poop and pee smell awful. we have a vlog about it in my channel.
Aing teu ngarti, but so good lah mang 👍👍

How long is this setup supposed to support the turtle? how long does it take for them to reach the size you mentioned?
10:18 the tortoise can climb up the hide and escape
Gladly someone is pointing it out, she will climb out from there very easily.
He mention it's "TEMPORARY".
@@acrylleak4340 but it only takes a few minutes and thats how you lose your tortoise
My tortoise likes to climb onto the house I gave her, but she can’t climb out
Acryl leak yes, I am aware of that. It’s a good temporary home, but it needs to be escape proof at the very least. But that doesn’t matter anymore, as the tortoise is in a better enclosure by now.
Amazing
How do you control the humidity in the tub???
Thanks bro 😅
OP bro
Hey, thanks for the information. Can you spray paint the out side of the container? As I'm look for Eastern Box Turtle can you suggest a breader?
Stephen Garland unfortunately I can not recommend a breeder but spray painting is a good idea but make sure the chemicals won’t hurt your box turtle
How did you stick the light up top there & is there by chance a smaller rack to use?
Hello , love your set up. How did you set up the uvb floursecent light up and with what??
🧨
I don’t even own one but I love watching them.
That enclosure you have I have this and my Russia tortise been it he was little I had max about 8years now and he's is still in it he's so darn cool I let him out every now and then he knows his way around my 2bedroom apartment I live here in DC and enjoy your day God bless you
What is the bin called you use, just an 8x4?
Mine must be broken & part ninja lol - he would climb right out. Using the water dish, right on top of that hide and dive into the abyss.... it is a pretty set up though!
how do you keep the humidity where it needs to be
Awe..He's so cute☺💚🐢I'm sure your tortoise loves the new set up.I have an adult Russian tortoise. He's in a 10 gallon glass tank, which is too small really "I never realized the clear walls is not good for them"😫....I want to get a large rubber bin instead.
IndoHati Carol yea that’s really small
@@finnsreptiles9326 Hello,I upgraded and got a much bigger home for him"A large Rubbermaid tote with clear sides but I covered them so he can't see out " ..plus I put some reptile sand and small river rocks. He's much happier.😊👍🏻
IndoHati Carol great to hear it :)
@@carolyn6689 i was planning on buying a clear one and then covering it up aswell
@@carolyn6689how much was that?
Can you please link that water bowl or try to find were you got it I'm obsessed with it
Where did u get the dish with the water in from
How much did you pay for all of this?
I have a Baby DT! I also have a tub but it’s high...do you recommend maybe a lower one? Cause I’m
Having problems keeping temperature and humidity!!
I'm thinking of getting 2 tortoises. Did you mix a 50/50 mixture of organic soil & play sand. And I was also looking at a Western Hermes Italian tortoise because they remain small.
Thanks, I would appreciate your input.
Bro what is the demension by CM for the width ..and the demension for the length and the demension of the hight ...
All by c.m pls
How much was the price for everything including both uvb lights
Jesus Sandoval use your head
summer’s nostalgia Jeez...he was just asking
everything even to get the tortoise in the UVA and UVB light is around $400 depending on size
Abigail Chaiyasate ;-;
_ふ_ wjeee did u get that number just grt arcadia under 100$ and its one of the best
he said PROBABLY poops in it when there is literally no where else to poop
True
Wood will hold in humidity.
Water dish...
why are you negative?
do you ever bring it outside on the grass?
Where can i get a water dish like yourss
You won't be able to maintain the correct humidity with an open top enclosure. He will probably end up Pyramiding even more. Look into closed chambers. It's the most efficient way to grow them out smoothly the first few years.
Hi. What are the two types of light I need and do they have to stay on day and night??
Hes the car guy from TikTok I like ur s2000 btw😉
THANK YOU!
Where did you get your UVB light strip and how much did it cost?
It costs around 20-45 dollars and u can get them at pretty much any pet store
Do you use a ceramic heater at night or just room temperature?
Wait where you get the big bin
What substrate do you use
I have my tortoise and I want to set-up his house, plz tell me where you get this plastic big tray? I need it for my tortoise. 🙏
I have also tortoise thank you
Where did you get a shelf like that from ?
Home Depot!
what equipment do I need for a tortoise
A garden!
What’s the best UVB and Heat lamp ?
What plants can i plant in terarium that are safe for my tourtle if she eat them
Hey man, I am getting two baby redfoots on tuesday and I was wondering what substrate you recommend. Its the one thing I am not certain on because a lot of people say different things.
Coconut fiber or eco earth
How often do you change the substance?
Getting a Russian tortoise soon. Have an aquarium type tank it will be going in. So it sounds like you recommend putting something around the clear area so it wont hit its nose. Did you try the coconut fiber? Thanks for the video.
Please, please, block off any clear/ see through spots. Sometimes they try to walk through it and if it’s glass they can hurt themselves; scratch, break, or cut themselves on the tank.
They are also a lil… dumb. They won’t learn and will continue to walk into the clear wall. You’ll be hearing the lil guy/gal bump into the enclosure all day.
@@-obsessedwithpenguins8806 i will put something around the clear area so it looks like a wall or background like an aquarium background
Pls don’t get one of you can’t provide a living area in a garden. It’s beyond unhealthy for them to have them in a terrarium… most become cripples
I'm a beginner for sure but everything I have been reading so far its the females that grow the largest of every breed I've looked into. As I said I'm new to this and keen to learn .
its only big enough for a baby tortoise right? what's your plan for the future?
Can he climb over the sides and fall off? So tortoise like to escape their enclosures?
So quick question where is the heating pad at?
Will the enclosure melt with the heat?
Does the light have to stay in all day and night ?
😍
where did you get that tub
You didn’t indicate the exact products that you used such as light and heater
I have two baby greek tortoise and having hard time to find light and heater
Does this enclosure work for Egyptian tortoise
Insint that uv light way to high?
What lamp do you use
How did you like this substrate combo? Would you recommend for a desert tortoise?
If you look up desert tortoise you can see where they would’ve lived at
Is it a UVB light?
Super
While this work for sulcata tortoises
I have two and I want to know if this works for sulcata tortoises
Edit: where did you buy the uvb light and the basking light bulb I already have the lamp
You could search for it online
Did you have any luck with the topsoil and mulch ? 😊
why do you have to tape the sides to stop him from seeing trough?
I didn't make it but tortoise get frustrated being able to see the outside because they want to be outside and will ram into the walls trying to escape
I don’t know what substrate I should get for my Sulcata tortoise and what I should give him for a home I am just using a 20 gallon tank and coco coir
do not use a tank, tortoises don’t understand the concept of glass and will get stressed because they cannot walk through the glass. a concrete mixing tub is good for the first year, depends on the dimensions of your tortoise. also a mixture of eco earth and mulch works as it can retain moisture.
peepee girl I put tape all around the tank so he couldn’t see and I am getting one of those tub it’s 50 x 36 x 10 and I cypruss mulch and coco fir
Oww. That's great! I'll do that tomorrow :))
Did u do it??
@@madaxe9989 Ow yes I did it! I will upload it soon on my CZcams channel too:))

Getting a sulcata tortoise
those grow HUGEEE
U got it ?
What’s the name of both soils ?
I wonder is the plant still there?
What if the plastic melts
Make a wooden flat incline structure like stairs without steps inside the encloser your tortoise will be more happy.
they love to climb.
like a ramp?
@@promisjones3506
Yes like a ramp
Impressive
2 years no update?
👌👌👌👌👌
What do you do for heat at night?
The heat lamp?
My sonaron desert tortoise lives out side and he is 3 years old and his name is Rengo and his favorite food is broccoli
So what is the point of the UV light? I am interested in owning a tortoise, and I know they are cold blooded so they need light to get heat. But why can I not only use a regular lightbulb? What is the purpose of the UV light?
They can get metabolic bone disease. It needs to mimic the sunlight, a regular light bulb won’t do. UVB Lighting is essential for tortoises to process calcium in captivity. Without UVB lighting tortoises will develop serious health problems such as abnormal shell growth and other deformities. UVB Lighting should be left on for 10-12 hours a day and turned off at night.
@@ohkaykaykayla2891 Thank you! That was good to know!
@@kevinbayas7869 You don't need uvb if you keep your tortoise outside or give it natural sunlight on a daily basis.

How often do you have to change the entire sulfate?
Exactly what I was going to ask
I'm looking for a small tortoise. Something around 4 inches at average length or at least something close to that. Can anyone give me a species name please?
What type of tortoise do you have?
Why does the 3 inches of visible space matter?
Because tortoises can be confused when they see through transparent materials. They'll think it's clear and try to walk through it only to find out there's an "invisible barrier" keeping him in. This can confuse the tortoise, that's why he mentioned that he'll put a tape to avoid confusion
Ahh been looking for a youtuber that has a redfoot housed indoors in an apartment!! I wish you would upload more! i think i am getting a cb baby redfoot so i am anxious in terms of housing since i live at an apartment right now
I hope you did not get one. Tortoises NEED to live outside. A terrarium can be used in an emergency, but not for ever. They need actual sunlight, otherwise they’re getting deformations
@@kunsile I used to have a russian tortoise (it was actually my older brothers but i used to feed him and take care of him more than my brother bc my bro forgot to feed him and stuff ;-;) we kept him in a terrarium with a basking lamp but we took him in the sunlight mostly everyday depending on the weather.
What type of tortoise is that??
is a UV or Heater lamp needed? like the turtle cant live without it?
Tortoises and turtles will need a heat and uvb bulb
i don’t think they need it when everyone says they do i have leopard geckos and tortoises that are very healthy without them
@@slumberpartybard6355 not good dude. All reptiles benefit from uv and overhead heat. Learn about advanced Husbandry. You're pets will thank you.
@@slumberpartybard6355 Tortoises REQUIRE a uvb bulb or natural sunlight. They will develop metabolic bone disease without proper sunlight or uvb. Geckos don't need uv as they are mostly nocturnal.
lol i only wasted 40 dollars on a 9x5 enclosure cus i found the free wood near the bins
Thanks dude but the dollars in my country is tripled so it's above 100
